In today's video, I install a brand new OEM 288mm Big Brake Kit made by ATE brakes on the Polo 6R which is still sold in India with the C54 calliper system. This same calliper does duty on Polo, Vento and Skoda Rapid and comes with a 256mm Brake Disc. This Big Brake Kit can also be tweaked to install a 310mm GTI Brake Disc for even beastly braking. Part numbers and detailed technical workflow followed will be up on my TeamBHP thread shortly.
This is NOT meant to be a detailed tutorial. Follow at your own risk.

Sujoy, you are doing a fabulous job by sharing great info for car enthusiasts 😲👍 please let me know if I can fix this in 2016 vento tsi dsg!! I am facing brake judder issue even after replacing discs... And have you faced this judder issue after upgrade??
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
Yes, your Vento 2016 is compatible with a big brake kit. Juddering could also be because of uneven lateral runout on your front wheel hubs. The hub needs to be cleaned and the runout needs to be checked before replacing discs each fime otherwise everytime a new disk is installed one side will have uneven wear. This is a much superior braking system, and is much stronger at braking even at higher speeds. Most of us using this brake system on OEM discs have no more juddering issues.

@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde Год назад
Sure, you can always upgrade to Yellow Stuff on Stock sized discs. Depends on which Brembo disc you use, because a stock replacement is going to function like a stock disk. Drilled, slotted, etc discs will fare better and improve braking but will eat pads faster. Either way, these are all cost effective than big brake kits, but none of these come close to the advantages of a better, lower maintenance braking system that the big brake kit offer. But yes, EBC Yellow stuff will definitely improve braking

Also, I was wondering about getting used FS-III Calipers from a totalled Polo here. Do used Calipers work well😅?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde Год назад
It'll be a marginal improvement. Slotted rotors, performance pads like EBC etc will cause braking improvement. You can't use FS3 caliper on your Polo, since the wheel hub bearing is different. Used calipers can have issues like sticking etc. If you buy them used, it's recommended to have them overhauled but this is a precision task.

@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
You cannot just install any random disc and calliper carrier to the rear. OEMs make brake systems and electronic systems with a calculation of brake sizes, weight bias etc. Polo 6R does come with an OEM rear brake disc option but a factory level installation ideally requires a new axle, OEM rear brake callipers, new hand brake cables, hand brake levers and a few more parts. For a street daily driven car, a rear brake kit is unnecessary. This front big brake kit was done for better brakes and not for the aesthetics, and a front upgrade serves that purpose of improved braking just fine. 😀

Hi Buddy, I was just curious to ask what lubricant you use for doors and hinges, as we all know Vw doesn’t use grease.
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
Hi, I haven't seen VW use a specific grease either. On our 12 year old Jetta, the doors had a slight squeak at the hinges, but I managed to sort that out with a liquid silicone grease (PetrelPlus)I found on Amazon. If not, I believe any decent bearing grease safe for metal on metal applications should be fine too.
@SujoyShivde

But they do use a small can of Silicone Door and Lock spray lubricant, maybe that's what has been keeping the hinges squeak free.

Need exact points for placing jack stands. Does the indicated points work? Or does jackstand hit running board?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
The indicated points are fine for a tyre wheel jack, but perhaps not sturdy or appropriate for a jack stand. But again, it all depends on the type of your jack stand. Some have a curved cup, some have a flat end. On the Polo 6R, you can place the jackstand on a curved portion of the metal frame which is behind each front tyre. I found this appropriate for cup type jack stands, like the ones I have. It's very distant from the running boards, so there's no chance of them hitting the running board. I'll try and share a picture to give you a better idea, but it might just be present on the TeamBHP thread

@pranjyotiboruah9325 You can look for more detailed videos also, but you won't be able to bleed the air by yourself, especially with precision, if you are doing it for the first time. If you have air in the system, you won't have stopping power, or basically you'll have no brakes to drive the car around. For that reason, better to have it done with an expert mechanic/garage if you don't know what you'd be doing

Bro please mention the part numbers for the same.. I am from New Delhi . And why didn't you opted for drilled bbk?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 3 года назад
Yes will share all part numbers on TBHP. Drilled rotors are expensive, and not a huge benefit for daily driving. Further drilled rotors are more susceptible to cracking and can eat pads unless they're meant for tracking. Plus, VW doesn't offer drilled rotors as an OEM upgrade for Polo. So considering these tradeoffs, I opted against drilled rotors. The brake system has been chosen in such a way that VW will be able to service it without a hiccup, in the event some parts need replacement in the future.

@@dieselhead5891 sorry, I haven’t looked at brake options for a Laura to tell you if 280 vs 288mm is the same hardware. As for the wear indicator sensor, if you don’t plan to retrofit it, you can safely cut it off.

Hey, Is that a sunset red or flash red ?? (Car)
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
It's a Sunset Red. Might look different on camera because of the nature of the edit. The calipers are close to flash red though, in their factory finish. You can have a look on my TeamBHP thread for better quality pictures of my car.

Hi which set is this and should I fix it on my polo 1.2 2017 model
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
It's an OEM Big Brake Kit. If it's a PQ25 Polo 6R, then yes, this Brake Kit would fit just fine on your car. You can go for it if you need better brakes

Was this done on a 15inc or 16inc wheel ?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde Год назад
This is a 16 inch wheel, 288mm big brake kit is fine even on the 15 inch rim size. Anything larger and the clearance is naturally lesser, but it has been done by many folks anyway

You can buy refurbished kits from few sellers in China. Let me know if you need help sourcing. For a new kit, you'll perhaps need to enquire with your local dealership

Does upgrading brakes void warranty?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
The stock brakes only have a 6 months factory warranty. This includes the caliper, brake disc, brake pads. Upgrading to an OEM Big Brake Kit is an international upgrade, which also involves coding of the ABS module. So, you can definitely consider a brake upgrade and the dealership shouldn't have a problem with it. If you use aftermarket parts like Brembo pads and claim warranty on the stock Disc, then you wouldn't get it. Hope this helps.

@@SujoyShivde I see. So you got OEM breaks from VW? Considering rear drum breaks did you really experience any breaking performance improvement or is it just for aesthetics?
@SujoyShivde
@SujoyShivde 2 года назад
@@adityashingoremusic The big brake kit is very much a functional upgrade compared to the aesthetics. If you get a chance, do drive a car with these brakes.
