With so many different caddis dry fly patterns about, we really don't need another variation, but I do like tying this one, and it catches fish. So, that makes it more than worthwhile in my books.

cree hackle .I like the pattern and will tie some up.Caddis are a staple in Alberta Canada and I love tying them .I've never seen them done this way so thanx .The only thing I would change Bob is I would tie down the yarn first and taper the cut instead of cutting it bluntly like you did. But nice pattern overall .thanx again.ken Ps. I know tapering the yarn may cause the hackle to slip ,but, I over come that by putting a dab of zap-a-gap(super glue) on the thread wraps before palmering the hackle forward. Happy tying.

G'day Kenneth, they're a staple in just about every trout stream around the world! And it's not a Cree, a very nice Dark Barred Ginger, but any lighter coloured hackle will do. Grizzly, Light Dun, Light Ginger, Cream... or Cree if you so wish!
