Dear Pastor Bob: I am a long time fan of punk and metal music and I'm a Christian so when I came across your youtube channel I was pretty excited. I see all the time on people's social media profiles that they are in an open relationship. In other words, they are polyamorous. Not only is this against God but it obviously doesn't work. It is a very unhealthy lifestyle and it is horrifying that it's becoming mainstream. It was even mentioned in a pamphlet given to me at my job as if it's normal. Also, I am a recovering sex addict who had to get help through a 12 step program so I know from personal experience that multiple sex partners is miserable. What should we do about this? Should we speak up and inform the public? I'm afraid it's too late!

I’m 19 yrs younger than you and I was a strong Christian from a young age but lacked any mentorship and never had this explained to me. I think people back then when I was growing up might have been afraid to tell anyone to do this for fear of being labeled? Either that or they just didn’t care enough. Anyway I also appreciate the heavy metal.

I think for Christians we also need to understand that when we enter into these things intimate relationships we are also bringing Christ into it. He becomes the centerpiece of the relationship. Because of this it also becomes a symbolic relationship that reflects the triune nature of God. Too many Christians think the relationship is just between the two people, because they leave God out of the relationship it automatically becomes unbalanced and immediately becomes a “tug of war” of wills. Will the marriage work?? Yes, but with much more difficulty than if they had Christ as the center of their marriage relationship. Just some thoughts from the peanut gallery 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi Pastor Bob. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am a 55 Christian woman who spent most of her twenties and thirties having multiple sex partners. But by the grace of God go I. I appeal to all these young girls and men to really wait for your husband or wife. Having multiple sex partners left me empty and lonely inside. If I can reach any of you, don't make the bad choices I did. I deeply regret my bad decisions, but thanks be to Jesus Christ who loved me and gave Himself for me.

I have an addiction to certain things. Not really sex, but other things. But I believe you when you say don’t ever start. I never started drugs, or smoking and I don’t have any addiction to those things. But the things I did get started with I became addicted to. I actually am polyamorous, but I also love all of my partners. I don’t view that as an addiction. It’s so much more than just sex. It’s about love. And I do love multiple people. I’ve also noticed that polyamory was common in the Bible. Several biblical patriarchs had multiple wives and God never says anything against it. So I suppose it’s about the heart. And what you’re doing which is healthy vs. unhealthy, what is okay and what can become a bad addiction. Some people indeed are polyamorous because they’re addicted to sex. That’s not all of us but some for sure. And it’s not healthy.

With that thought in mind...What do you do with an old bond like that? I grew up with True Love waits propaganda, and, ehhh, It left a lot of things out due to peoples attitudes around sex.
