You forgot to mention the most requested feature! You can now dim the lights and not be blinded by the light (revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night) I happy to hear all of those distortions and different ways to send fx.
I bought a Super 6 over the weekend. Spent quite a bit of time with it on Sunday and Monday. Just couldn't get into a groove with it. Meanwhile, my Polybrute is sitting there, rolling its eyes at me. I decided to return the Super 6 yesterday so it feels like karma that this update came out today lol. Wow - talk about binaural! That stereo layer feature is incredible. I'm guessing that you only get 3 voices though since it's layered, right? Also the visual feedback on LFO 3 is huge. What a great update. Thanks Arturia and thanks, Starsky!
II did the opposite. I got a Polybrute, I played it for several weeks, liked everything about it….except the sound. (kind of important :-)). If I worked at it, I could get a sound out of it that I liked. Problem was, it took too much work to get a sound I liked, so I returned it. To my ears, Polybrute has a very narrow sweet spot. I replaced it with a Super 6, which has the widest sweet spot of any Synth I have tried. Which means tweaking it is a real joy, as most sounds I stumble upon are in that sweet spot. IMHO a wide, sweet spot is the most important feature of a hardware synth, because tweak-ability is the main reason I prefer hardware over a software synth. I think that what constitutes a “sweet spot“ is highly subjective, definitely a case of “to each his own.“
@@jmcoffin1 There are so many testimonials like this online that I was sure the Super6 was going to be a home run for me. But it either must be a) a personal aural thing, like some people don't like cilantro and some do or b) some brains prefer different workflows and it's easier to find the sweet spot in one synth vs the other. Or some combo of the two. In two days, I wasn't able to get anything I really liked out of the S6, but I'm totally willing to accept that as a user issue. On the other hand, I was having all sorts of technical and "beta product" issues with the S6 as well. Since the synth does not do certain things the manual says it does (e.g. osc mix as a mod destination), it was frustrating for me to pin down which issues were user error and which were synth limitations/bugs. All that said, it's a gorgeous machine, the filter was buttery smooth and I wish I had clicked with it. But I'm happy (and happier still) with my PB. Cheers!
Nice overview! One little clarification re. Glide: The sequencer and matrix-arp already has its own per step glide track. If the glide took immediate effect there, that would result in conflicting functionality.
Just a note regarding the arp glide. You sound a little dissapointed that the glide doesn't work in the sequencer and matrix-arp modes. In those modes you can add glide with the grid-buttons as a part of the sequencer controls, so it would be redundant. Just to clarify.
To the tuning mod is for the range I guess? So 24 semi tones should in theory give you the finest adjustment (per knob travel distance)? Or is it exactly the opposite of that because the knob now has to travel 24 semitones? Which would make the 7 semitones setting the one you want if you want detune at a "cents" level rather than full semi tones. Do Arturia explain this in the manual? Thanks for the overview Starsky. That's very helpful.
Great updates for a great synth - particularly poly unison IMHO. Unfortunately no software update however nice will add a second pair of outs or make morphee mod sends dedicated instead of shared. No synth is perfect, but having those would have made this one awful close...
Still not the least bit interested in this synth … The sounds (most importantly) and even the features (there are better options out there for all of them) just do nothing for me … 🤷🏻♂️ I’d consider it, if I had to write a space sci-fi soundtrack … Otherwise, nope … 🙃🤔
On the other hand, it is a truly magical synth when you spend time with it. I always come up with a wealth of sound and texture with it. Most demos don’t do it justice, just like the Hydrasynth
