Aviyah’s story
After losing both kidneys to polycystic kidney disease and cancer, 10-year-old Aviyah’s life completely changed. Aviyah now requires life-saving dialysis treatments in CHEO’s Medical Day Unit four mornings a week. Her treatment also severely restricts what she can eat, so she consults with a dietician. But through it all, Aviyah maintains her playful and artistic spirit. She revels in music therapy, craft projects and dancing. With the unwavering support of her family and her CHEO care team, she is anxiously waiting to be cleared to receive a kidney transplant and reclaim her life.

L'histoire d'Aviyah
Après qu’elle ait perdu ses deux reins des suites d’une maladie rénale polykystique et un cancer, la vie de la jeune Aviyah, âgée de 10 ans, a complètement changé. Aviyah doit maintenant subir des traitements de dialyse à l'unité médicale de jour du CHEO quatre matins par semaine. Ses traitements restreignent grandement ce qu'elle peut manger, ce qui l'oblige à consulter une diététicienne. Malgré tout, Aviyah conserve son esprit amusant et artistique. Elle adore la musicothérapie, les projets d’artisanat et la danse. Avec l'appui sans bornes de sa famille et de l'équipe de soins du CHEO, elle attend une greffe de rein et a très hâte de reprendre sa vie en main!
