what you convey is the handling of the effects that arise. not treatment of PKD & AKD. I haven't found any treatment for PKD & AKD. stem cell therapy and gene correction may be the hope.
I've got advanced PDK. It's not a death sentence, but it's not pleasant. I've been on both types of dialysis and finally had a transplant. All has been well but the size of my native kidneys is becoming an issue and they may have to be removed.
Hi Paul. I was wondering don"t they remove the original kidney or both of them (if there's PKD on both kidneys), before placing a transplanted one? How have you been doing lately?
@@aidam.6231 hi. Unless there’s a real need to the native kidneys stay in place and the transplanted one gets put in the groin area. Had my kidneys been too big they would have taken one out to fit the new one in. The blood supply for the transplant comes from the artery to the leg. Doing OK at the moment. Got Covid in the summer and although I was in hospital with it, it wasn’t serious, more of a precaution as I’m immunosuppressed. Recently had a blip when I was put on medication for ankle swelling but I’m off that now and kidney function back to what it was. Thanks for your concern!
@@ukar69 Thanx a lot for you reply! My brother's got a PKD and it had been causing him a lot of troubles. He's been on dialysis for 3 yrs now and we're now at the beginning of compatibility tests process to see if I'd be a good match for him. I certainly hope so. I remember an urologist quite recently telling him and us that he should be taking a kidney out (just spoke about one) as cists keep making problems regardless of dialysis. It's all still confusing but I hope it'll get cleared out by time. It's great that you're doing well and even managed Covid successfully! @@aidam.6231 thank you very much. I’ve had the odd cyst go pop and depending whereabouts on the kidney it is, the pain is excruciating. As you probably know, kidney failure and dialysis can give a whole host of other problems. I wish your brother well and hope you turn out to be a good enough match, or if not, a suitable donor comes along soon. It will change his life. Best of luck to both of you.
Thankyou .... Actually I am just 24 years old and am suffering from a kidney cyst .and it is 5.5 mm... Doctors told me surgery is only the solution..wht should i do now
