Number of battery powered Korg Volcas I purchased to take outdoors: 5. Number of times I jammed outdoors: 0. I will keep you in check next time, promised :)
I love mine. It’s a keeper. The visual feedback from the grid. The chance and randomisation. Loading an SD card with samples is easy. Pop the card then Drag n drop.
Nice video, thanks mate. And your are right about the comparaison with the Oxi. After thinking a lot, the thing that I really need is a multi sequencer. The Oxi have 4 sequencers and that is what I need (1 for the synth, 1 for the drum machine)... I am gasing over the play because it looks fun and I really want to use it... but what I need is at least 2 sequencers and 3 would be a plus.
Look at the KORG SQ-64, you can find them for pretty cheap. 3 normal sequencer channels and 1 channel dedicated to drums, it does quite a bit for the little device that it is
This thing became my bandmate. When I have an idea, or just want to jam, it’s there and we are up and actually playing in less than a minute. Then it lets me develop and evolve my ideas AND offers its own into the process. A fantastic partner in crime.
@@krazywabbit Soz, that was a bit of a Planet Me comment...what I meant to lead with was; great vid, really interesting perspective and it got me thinking, thanks!
Yes you waz, Krazy wabbit. I've been watching videos on the APC64 thinking I need it for the CV outs. Then I realized I have enough CV and I'd rather sequence MIDI on my Play. Not into samples much yet.
I used to enjoy a music box called a Yamaha RS7000. I loved that thing and still have a very mushy soft spot for it. I was never more prolific, because of its limitations. Was a valuable life-lesson for me. I’m enjoying observing your journey, btw. Keep up the good work :)
Well I just sold mine yesterday and I will only regret the quick workflow. It's great to make loops but thats it. That thing is SLOW, memory is terrible, 20 folder limit (really Polyend ?) this thing feels like it has the power of a Nokia 3310 💀
Thanks! What if you have four analog synths and you would want to sequence analog synth pieces. Simplicity required for a first time buyer of tools like this. Oxi or Play?
