I wanted to share this short tips with everyone before a longer video that will come on monday about planning a liveset with the Tracker as the main drum machine in a dawless setup. It's simply about saving instruments slots by rendering your drum kits into single files and then slice them.

Great tip, as always. Beat Slice is one of Tracker’s most versatile ‘secret weapons’.

Hahaha indeed, I probably use either Beat Slice or Slice for 90% of the instruments.

Yes this render your selection as a sample so you need to sequence first. But you can live record your stuff and then sample it !

Similarly regular slice can be used as a cheap multi-sample: put note together with the slice number.

@@StazmaI use the slice, not beat slice, together with S-effect. It takes one effect command but allows to pick arbitrary resolution for the multi-sample.

@@Stazma roll is subdivisions, re-trigger can be subdivisions too, but re-trigger can also extend way past the step length, repeating the note as many times as you want at whatever resolution you want

Great! Especially now after 1.5 firmware release where we can save slices as pti instrumets. have to try how to control synth midi out that way 👍

I can't get my head around render sections,it's so buggy...I did everything same as you yet each time length of rendered audio is different.but i saw they are working on it in 1.4.1 as well as some other bugs.

I never had problems with it but I don't use it much, most on the time I prepare things on my computer before. Worst case you just have to use auto slice instead of "equal slice" right ?

@@Stazma it depends,if I want to render long polyphonic chords it often just stops midway on the first note;for example if I put 3 chords in 64 steps most of the times it never renders last 2 chords,not eaven first fully.

@@Stazma people brought this bug on git hub so hopefully they will fix it,I've crossed some other bugs but this one is most annoying

@@MrXamanX Ah yes I remember having that problem once. It seems to happen more when you select more than one track. I hope they fix it in the new firmware, I was about to try it out.

Hello ! Merci pour ce tip. Du coup Polyend devrait pouvoir trouver de quoi faire ça de manière automatique ... Ou juste augmenter le nombre de slots ?! En tout cas la machine en est capable, c'est juste que le soft ne le permet pas.

En fait ça serait vraiment pratique de pouvoir charger un kit de cette manière, ou de la même façon charger autant de samples que de notes pour un synthé par exemple.
