i expected the camera women (his sister?) to speak meow^^ how chilled was that cat? i was pretty stunned to see a cat chilled like this while ppl are doing weird stuff in front of it's eyes. and also it had a nice cushion^^
@@ohhrelic8804 That's why there's divisions in language. He never said he spoke all of them fluently. If you can get by with a basic understanding (make a request, directions, order a meal, etc.) the claim is valid.
Krane claim is invalid. He cannot express himself on a deeper level in most of his languages. If you ask him what he thinks about climate change he won’t be able to say anything.
Boo Bella filipinos often use english and tagalog mixed together. sometimes if we can’t think of certain words in tagalog, we substitute using english... aka taglish
There was a video from Asian Boss, where Filipinos were asked if they could speak only in Tagalog and NO Taglish. The Filipinos said, yes and once the conversation started, I think all subconsciously did Taglish and realized, they were not able to do only Tagalog.
Love this guy so much! Don’t mind the haters man :) Obviously you state in almost all your videos that you talk to the people who speak different languages to improve your vocabulary in a particular language. I wish people would just stop with the hate and appreciate the video. This video makes me happy seeing the reactions!
A fun fact at 10:53 : the guy speaks "parantu" for "but", while majority of Indians use "lekin", which mean the same. Parantu is used in formal conversations, but seldom used in spoken Hindi. The only place I ever used parantu was in Hindi literature in middle school. . Whoever is reading this, I hope you're safe, and I appreciate this man, being a polyglot is not featherweight task!
As someone who loves learning languages, I really want to like this guy but I can't. I mean, yeah, he speaks maybe 5-7 languages, and that's impressive, but why the need of claiming he speaks 20-30 languages? In most languages he claims to speak he's just memorized a bunch of phrases, that's why he throws around some random questions so often. And before you say he's never claimed to be fluent, look at the titles of his videos and tell me if it's not implied that he's fluent in all those languages. Also, some of his supporters are just playing semantics, saying a thing or two in certain language doesn't mean you speak that language.
@@shuneughu4244 he literally told the greek people he wants a chicken gyro, what a connection. They clearly had a good laugh and wanted to move on with their day.
yea like a lot of the clips is him just saying things he has passively learned like how for example I know random phrases like "una hamburgusa con queso" and stuff like that from Duolingo and hearing it
My question is… but according to you all, that watch his videos and comment them, if he really spoke 30 languages VERY GOOD, would he get around his city parks to annoy tourists or would he work for international companies as an interpreter or something like that? So I am an Italian mother tongue, I can speak Spanish and Portuguese (from Portugal) and I studied some Chinese as well So about Portuguese his accent is funny, it is an accent that is not natural at all; about Spanish is ok but there are a lot of mistakes, always exchanges male and female genders for example. About Italian, his Italian is not good, he can says some sentences but there is no accent, it’s look like google translate voice, there is no energy, there is nothing, his sentences are totally empty, about Italian he cannot work anywhere with this level of italian, About Chinese he speaks well, but the tunes for example are not taken into account, he knows just a few Chinese characters.. the most beautiful and difficult of Chinese language… So I think for my experience that learning a language is not only to speak it, it is studying his culture, studying his country where it is spoken, traveling to his country for a period of time… and so on.. Studying a language at home, without experiencing like that.. according to me it is an half work, ok he speaks them, but the problem now is not how many languages does he speak, but how does he speak all these languages…
first, to motivate myself I started to search for multilingual videos and I found yours, and I have tried to find a video you speaking Korean and here it is. I am glad I found one. 약간 어색하긴 한데 언어 감각이 좋네요. Great job man.
Learning languages is a beautiful thing to connect with others and show a loving respect. Went to a Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam, and the place was cash-only. I walked outside and found some French people my age and they didn’t speak English, so I used my best, broken French to ask where the ATM was. Nice guys. Amsterdam, I’ll be back. France, see you later!
I love your videos dude. I speak 4 languages myself and you're pushing me to learn even more because you showed me how cool it can be to communicate with people in their native language.
This guy knows maybe 3/4 languages at a high level, and the rest are just a small set of phrases he has memorized. The remaining 18 or so languages are not at a very high level yet.
It's not necessarily that he's not at a high level with those languages, it could just be that it's hard to switch from so many different languages that you don't speak consistently enough for the switch to be easy.
Parents from Indonesia, but can't speak Indonesian. Sad. Bahasa Indonesia is one of the most easiest language to learn. Anyway your Bahasa is on point Wouter,, keep up the good work. 👌
You very improved your level in speaking those languages and your conversation is much much better than in the past . Maybe one day you will speak all those languages every single one of them like it's your native language. Each and each language that you speak will improve with time .
@@krane15 actually, his replies are incohesive to what speakers will say especially when they ask him something off-script. He uses memorized sentences in some bleak languages and not actual conversation
@@jedidazed3390 I got that. But you have to start somewhere, and this foundation will only get better with time. He also clearly states that he wants to practice and learn with native speakers, so he's not being disingenuous. Even though he may not be fluid in all those languages, some understanding is better than none. Knowing as much as he does, you can't help but admit its still an impressive feat.
I wouldn't call yourself a polyglot, yet. You only know a few phrases in many languages. A true polyglot actually SPEAKS and UNDERSTANDS many languages.
2eleven48 lol there’s no agenda. I’m just explaining the colloquial use of “inshallah”. Yes, literally it means “god willing”. But in every day speech it is used as a polite way of saying “I hope so”
Oh wow I looove this! Inspiration for me to become polyglot! I know spanish and English... now Italian, Portuguese and French are my next languages I must conquer!
I like your videos but unless you stop with those "can we be friends?"/ "I want to go there"/ "can we drink together? Your videos will always be the same and therefore they will become soon boring. Less languages and more content please (dont think speaking with strangers in 5 or 6 languages would be less impressive...)
you right i told him once his japanese so bad in japanese we have 4 ways of conversation and he uses basic conversations he should focus on 3 of them to become better then speak other language like my mom is french and i found writing in french so hard
I agree with jonrocker1983. I wonder how much he actually learned through Italki though... Luckily, this guy lives where there are multiple languages being used every day. In some parts of America, I still find it hard to find people that speak languages other than English. But also, what's the secret to developing such a strong vocabulary in each language?
@@Nick-qi3pv I can tell you that his Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese are very basic, and with an awful accent too. He is funny and sociable. That's his only secret. Strong vocabulary? That's your impression, I guess. Of course he opened this channel for a reason. If you like languages it's not that hard to memorize new words and expressions. Especially if you want to impress people.
With only 3 weeks learning Vietnamese, your Vietnamese is so good. I'm a Vietnamese but I think it's so difficult, especially in pronounce with foreigners.
You’re progressing really well Woulter! I recommend that you practice your Vietnamese and Thai more so it doesn’t sound as unnatural and robotic when you speak, but overall awesome job!
what does "talk /know" a language mean ? i can play a few chords on piano and play asimple tune on a one octave recorder. Does that mean i can play two instruments or am a musicain?
That teenage Mandarin guy was so arrogant. He claimed to be a doctor, but he's obviously a teenager and he didn't even try and talk with Wouter. He just stood there trying to act cool.
I agree, that taiwanese guy was arrogant and rude. Only spoils the reputation of Taiwanese people, his behavior makes me sick. But I am sure there are good taiwanese people out there, he's just a really really bad example of one.
Nah he’s too awkward she dropped so many hints like she doesn’t know what to do I would have been like I’ll show you around if you’d like and broke character and stop using chapter one of the phrase book immediately.
What could be interesting is you travelling to countries where you are fluent and making vlogs, giving people an insight into culture while speaking with locals.
Hola me llamo Sacha. Soy de Filipinas. Hablo inglés, tagalog, y español. Nakakatuwa itong video na 'to. Gusto ko rin matututo ng iba't-ibang lenguwahe gaya mo. Keep it up!
I am just a stupid American. I speak English poorly and just a little Tagalog (my wife is from the Philippines). You sir are amazing. I think this is one of the best ways to bring people together. It is much harder to hate when there is mutual understanding.
It's easy to tell the daughter was VERY impressed. Should have asked for her number, good chance she would have blurted out her number before you were even done asking
Hello Polyglots, has anyone already expanded his vocabulary linguistically about series or generally gained experience with it. I had planned to watch two series in the evening with subtitles from next week on. Mainly for English and French. I'd be happy to hear about your experiences.
That is so cool Bruh. We should all learn to speak at least 3 language because it helps us to connect. I only know polish, English and Spanish. Then I can understand Italian a little German but that's as far as I go.
You know, I was pretty proud of the fact that I can speak fluent German, but then I watch a video like this and think, damn.... it's not that impressive really lol.
@dissapointment 2 ne, aus Amerika. Hab Deutsch in der Schule seit 8 Jahren oder so gelehrnt. Hab aber einige Monate in Österreich gewohnt für einen Austausch.
ok wouter i have to admit that you are really good at speaking...i have a suggestion for you my friend...LEARN PERSIAN! its really Goooooooood...موفق باشی دوست عزیز
Such metropoles/ big cities like Amsterdam must be perfect for meeting people from worldwide and practise new languages (I only speak German, English and a bit Spanish, but I love Amsterdam and the Netherlands ;-))
Heel Leuk 😅 i do speak 6 languagges, Albanian Italian Spanish English German a bit of Dutch, i do understand very good Portugues from Brazil, i can speak a bit, i am now learning Russian 😊
English-- You are amazing bro . Spanish-- Mucho gusto para conocerle no hay palabras para describir sobre ti 😉😂 Hindi--- aap lajawab ho Bhai achha laga apse milke apka channel dekh ke. Portuguese -- bom dia amigo encantado 😉😉👌👌
I doubt it. It's great that he can talk a little in different languages, but his English and German skills aren't even that good for a Dutchman. If you want to watch someone speak decent Mandarin or Japanese for example, I recommend laoshu505000 on RU-vid. His channel is blowing up right now. Doubled his subscriber count in the last week.
I've been thinking of learning new languages and you definetly inspired me. What have been the easiest ones to learn and what would you recommend trying to learn for first? Speaking finnish, swedish, german and english at the moment.
While watching these type of videos it becomes clear why you need a dominant language like English to conduct business around the world. Sure, learning many languages is a very cool but its not reasonable that most people will walk around speaking several languages to conduct business and travel around the world.
Hala ang galing marunong din sya mag tagalog...ahaha idol na din kita..parang si xiaoman at lingo Louis... Mga language polygot...gusto ko din matuto..
Makes me realize how fucked up my day is. My native language is English. I speak a fair bit of Russian. My work crew speaks Spanish and the other half of the folks at work speak Pennsylvania Dutch. There seems to be no middle ground besides hand signals.
Wish i was as social as you are even though you dont speak all the languages that good approaching a language by speaking to natives is the best way for you to do so
Hoi Wouter!
How do you approach people and start talking their languages so easily? I'm kinda shy and don't really know where to start. Can anyone offer some advice?
