Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. The D24s are great bikes for the money! You’ll love it.

We bought the base model yellow one and upgraded the dropper and brakes we were able to get it on sale for $750 at its lowest point so it was a great deal and my son loves it. He’s been to several lift access bike parks and recently did his first downhill race on it. Several decent crashes, it’s a great bike!

A screaming deal at $750. And it is very solidly built. It will get outgrown before it gets wrecked. Have an awesome time with it!

Great and detail/honest review. Just curious what size water bottle you have there in the d24x. Wondering if the 450 fidlock will fit?

Many thanks for the feedback Vu Le. The bottle is a Polar Insulated Breakaway 12oz bottle. It’s pretty small and i don’t think a larger bottle would fit. Regrettably i don’t have any experience with the 450 Fidlock. Good luck!

Duplicate post but hoping you see it. Any experience with upgrading the rims/wheels to 26"? Bike Dads said a 26" wont fit in the rear as is with the 400mm chainstay? I just scored the D24X for $1050 on Black Friday so I'm pumped! Just concerned it wont grow the way they advertise. Marin makes the same upgrade claim and run a 428mm chainstay.

Hey Ken, many congrats on a great bike at an awesome price!! You’ll love it - its a quality product. We haven’t had any experience actually converting to a 26”. I have seen some pics of someone converting to 26” rims and it certainly looks tight at the back. I don’t doubt the Bike Dads have the right info. I think the takeaway was that it would fit a 26” rim but you would be very limited as to tire width. That said, I think we’ll be skipping right through the 26” and heading to a larger wheel size & bike when we’re ready to upsize. Enjoy the new ride!

The Marin Rift Zone Jr is a 26" bike they put 24" wheels on and different Casset and derailleur that doesn't hand so low like the 26" Version, hence the Rift Zone is actually a larger bike and better suited to the wheel upgrade, but is also more expensive. I am currently struggling between deciding between these two bikes, I love the look of the square frame sections on the D24(x) and the blue in the D24 looks cracking, however I think the Rift Zone might be my preference due to it lasting a little longer with longer reach.

How much weight could be reasonably dropped by swapping wheels, cranks, bars, and dropper?
@dizidoesdownhill

We didn’t change much at all on the bike. You could certainly save a few pounds going that way but Dex didn’t struggle to handle the bike or peddle it up steepish hills given the low gearing.

Do you know how much that wheel set weighs? Thinking of getting this and upgrading wheels to stans crest, then tubless with lighter tires and a lighter crank. I'm hoping with that we can get the weight down to 27lbs and still be under $2000.

Thanks for checking out the video. Sorry but i dont know what the weight of the wheel set is. Unless you’re racing or have a very small kid, the 30lb weight hasn’t been a big issue for Dex. It’s a great bike for the price.

Would this bike work for a beginner adult 5 feet tall 110lbs? It's on sale right now for $699 would it be better for me to get a hardtail for a similar price with a small frame?

Hi Jose, I think the D24 would be too small for a 5ft person. Dex is now just over 4’10” and we’ve put him on a Specialized size S1 which I think is essentially somewhere between XS and S. He is able to ride it quite happily but I think he’ll be happier when he is a couple of j ches taller. He could’ve stayed on the D24 a little longer but it was definitely close to the limit at 4’10”. Good luck with your searches.
