I find tutorials are lot like a 12-step meeting, and one thing I learned is “Take what you need and leave the rest behind.” Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge.
"Someone asked why don't I use a brush to add the Gold Leaf - because I don't want to" - 😂😂 brilliant response, I love it. Deb you are not only a fab artist but also honest to a fault. Thank you for sharing your ideas so willingly and bringing us your sense of humour.
Dee, your faux crystals/stones are so very close to what the real crystals that I work with look like. My jewelry clients love crystals but cannot always afford the jewelry I design. These polymer clay faux crystals make for beautiful affordable jewelry. Thank you for the tutorial, when I make these, I will definitely say "YOU" are my inspiration.
Not a dang thang wrong with using ur fingies!! We are adults now we can get, do, and be as messy as we need to be 😂. We usually cleaning up others messes too. So enjoy 🎉❤😊
I love it when you get messy it’s like the inner child is coming out which is backed up with your naughty giggle 😊 you are so fun to watch and the sassy sarcasm which unfortunately is needed to straighten out moaners is hysterical 😂 don’t ever change being yourself, all of us that appreciate you love it 😍 I suffer with severe depression and your tutorials make me giggle so thank you tons xxx
I REALLY like this project! It looks so elegant. I will definitely be trying it myself. I made my first "chippy choppy" canes and my first mokume gane cane. It was so much fun and I appreciate you sharing your talent and skills and PATIENCE in teaching these techniques! 🌟
I tried this last year and mine didn’t come out as nice as yours. It’s been a year and I’m better than I was then so I think I’ll try it again. I love all your tutorials!
These are wonderful! I really like this technique. I don’t think you were being snarky - I find it odd that anyone would care if you got messy fingers or used a brush. I mean, j guess I could understand it if it were in the form of a question, such as, “Is it okay to use a paint brush?” It might be insipid, but reasonable. You enjoy what you do, which is such a large proportion of my own choice of finding you so worthy of watching. I love how authentic you are - you do make me smile, smirk, and even get loud whilst laughing as I listen to you. Love these pieces so much! All of them. The ones with more trans showing are my favorite. I really like the way you cut the gold flakes in. Thank you, Deb.🌸💕🤗
Love this! I’m a beginner, about a month now, and trying everything. I’ve subscribed and , BTW, doesn’t bother me at all that you use your hands. The best tools! Thanks for this.
So happy that you are on the mend and starting to feel better. Never mind what other people think - you do you - we love you for it. Beautiful pieces today - love them. Thanks for a great tutorial and keep feeling better.
This is really beautiful! I tried your chippy-choppy method by putting everything (once chopped) into a small plastic bag that would normally be discarded and giving the open bag a nice firm, directional compression. it worked pretty well first time out, and prevented my own abused skin from requiring a harsh scrubbing without wearing the hated gloves. Just thought I'd add my trial experience. Glad you are well again!
Hi Deb, lovely to see you back, and fit and well too. I've never had Covid, but know many who've had the strain that you had, and they all say it isn't nice at all. So I'm glad you've recovered and you're raring to go!! Great tutorial, and LOVE the jewellery you've made it's all so gorgeous, and very pretty. Thank you for sharing it with us. Take care, xx
Oh Deb you are a wild one! All those metal leafy fingers! LOL! Well I like you just the way you are! This is a really beautiful technique! Even though I'm still sick, I may try this one tomorrow. I'm just itching to get back to my clay and wire! You've inspired me! Thanks again!
some people just have to be critical. Gives them a feeling of power. Too bad for them. You do it the way you want. It is right for you. I am going to try this for myself. I do not have any pearl, but think for me for the first I will do it without. Once I am able to get some of the pearl then maybe. My mom and cousin and I went to Alaska years ago and my cousin, who has way more money than me, bought a lovely ring with the gold in the matrix and it looked just like what you made. I was so envious. Now maybe after seeng your method I can make something for myself that I can wear as a pendant. thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial.
So glad you’re feeling better. Wow these are amazing….can’t wait to try!!!! You just keep amazing me, getting better and better. Thank you so much for generously sharing with us. 💚💚💚
Hi, To anyone who has trouble with dry hands, don't we all! I have used every lotion in the book my whole life, I'm not young, and even Vaseline with gloves every night. But since using (Aveeno skin relief moisturizing lotion - Helps heal Very dry skin clinically proven, Soothes sensitive or itchy extra dry skin Therapeutic with triple oat complex and natural shea butter) Not the generic. Seriously this stuff really works, not kidding! No cracks since using!! I don't work for Aveeno! LOL ✌
Ahhh no problem Deb I've learned so much from you, that's the least I can do. I wore the set to work this week and they were a big hit with my coworkers and customers... and I sent them all to you on Facebook and RU-vid. 🤗
I love the chameleon character of polymer clay, especially faux art. Your work is beautiful. Have you found a good way to make faux wood, such as planks or slabs?
As I'm watching you trying to get the two pieces of gold leaf to stick together, I'm wondering if you put a little liquid clay between the two pieces of gold leaf, would it help stick OR would it just slide away from each other. I would try it myself but I'm in the process of moving my craft room and my house is trashed. Just a thought!! I'm loving how this is going.
Another alternative is to mix the gold leaf in with the liquid clay. Whenever I do my chippy choppy style, the metal leaf always tends to pull away. It’s just the nature of the beast. You just have to keep working it.
@@clayboutique If you only use one layer of gold leaf instead of two on either side, that also works. No meddling needed. Love that you show the harder way tho - always more than one way to get something done!
Wow!! ❤ i absolutely love love love this tutorial, thankyou. I find all of your tutorials are so easy to follow . I’m glad your better and back at it, take care xxx🌸
Gorgeous 😍 I can't work in gloves either! Haven't gotten around to using my iv resin yet and am sensitive so probably will have to wear, and hate, gloves then.
Every time I think I can guess how one of these faux stones is made... I'm embarrassingly wrong 😂 So thankfully that you (and other artists) are sharing your techniques you learned over time. Thankyou so much.
Lol…it’s almost like the last piece had a little mouth on it that was back-talking you as you rolled it Deb… lol Beautiful pieces - I’m going directly to my craft room to give this a try! ❤️❤️
The exact same thing happened to me with resin. I was making all kinds of things with resin and I had a bad reaction. My hands were so bad for months! That’s why I started learning to use clay. That way I only use uv resin to finish and don’t really expose my hands to resin too much.
I'm not a gold person but these are awesome! Love the translucency in the flat pendants. I'm going to have to try this. I cracked up at the foil pieces. 🤣🤣 Once that stuff touches you, it doesn't want to let go.
Deb these are so beautiful. I can tell by your tutorials, you are a rock hound like me! I love rocks and gem stones. I just love your videos. Stay well.
Good to have you back 😀and Glad you are feeling better! Beautiful pieces but I hate working with opal but may give it a try anyway 😀. I’ve been using triple thick sometimes as I’m afraid the UV resin will yellow over time.
I have just started working with polymer clay and your tutorial is absolutely the best I have come across! Thank you for sharing! I learned more in this tutorial than the 25 I have watched. ❤
🤣🤣🤣 I did have a bit of a ‘tude! 🤣😁 People are so demanding, annoying and critical with their comments, sometimes! I think they think they can talk to me exactly how the feel, because they’re behind a screen. Well, this chic won’t put up with those shenanigans 😊😁❤️
Beautiful ! Love your creativity and really love your accent ❣ Just a suggestion, if you generously coat the gold on both sides with the liquid clay you won't have the separation problem. You need to coat the gold entirely for it to blend and stick. Here you only coated the cut clay side where you then ended up with two "dry" gold sides that had no binder to join them, hence the need of more time working them physically together. Although this looks stable, it's actually not. This kind of joint has a high tendency to break apart if dropped on a hard floor. Where as, a gold vein that is more flooded with a binder will be better standing up to such a force. Hope this helps.
Again, catching up on the videos and enjoying it while rehabbing! You still slay me with your pointed remarks. Perfection. And if you don’t get your hands messy, and if you don’t make errors, are you REALLY an artist or a craftsman/women???? You just keep doing you because you’re wonderfully talented❣️ (I do wish you had a Facebook group/page, but I can understand why not to have one considering the snarky posts people can make!)
As usual, stunning pieces and I can’t wait to try, although they never look as nice as yours! ?- why does your translucent look browner. Is it the lighting? Thanks 🙏
part of the reason i love working with polymer clay is using my hands and sometimes getting messy 😆 also, for the issue of the cuts not sticking, have you tried smearing just a little liquid translucent clay between the gold leaf on each side?
Those are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your talent. I'm excited to try this. Do you worry at all about the integrity of the finished items at all, where the pieces weren't quite sticking together between the gold? Or do you feel like the resin on top helps with that?
