Deb, 1st I absolutely love your voice and accent, and your very casual/conversational chat/dialogue with us as if were actually in your studio with you! LOVE IT! Don't ever change. 2nd, I love all your faux techniques and that you share them with us. (btw, I love Clay Zoo too). 3rd, amethyst is my birthstone so these are perfect! I actually love the look of them not having resin on them. Surprized me because I do like shiny things. But I felt like they resembled a real crystal more. I collect crystals and lots are shiny but a little flatter shine is what most seem to have depending on the stone itself. But you always do a wonderful job. I really appreciate you showing us your work. Thanks ..... Tammy

So easy looking, wonderful finish. I love the resin shine, and the way it brings out the lovely colours. I could watch you all day, but that does not get anything made. The choppy one you did gold and silver, I spilt my paint, it was quite thin, so not as good a result. We live and learn. Thank you for your efforts. X

Great tutorial, steps very well explained. Clay zoo is wonderful, I watch whenever er he posts. I have a question..when mixing different types of clay I hear that you bake at the highest, but can't is considerably lower than premo. What did you bake at, and lol, what do you know about mixing clays
@clayboutique
@clayboutique 2 года назад
Cernit is only 10 degrees lower than Premo, and doesn’t seem to harm it when baking at 275. I wouldn’t mix Cernit with Fimo, for example. But mixing Cernit and Premo is fine, and baked at the higher temp. You need to bake it at the higher temp, otherwise Premo wouldn’t be fully cured at 265.

I'm a beginner and the translucent premo I got is crumbly. What's your best way to soften. I've tried mineral oil, petroleum jelly and even a few drops of Glycerin. I dont have a hobby store near me. I do wonder if the Sculpey clay softener is a must have. I just learned I need to bake longer to stop breakage. I love your channel and have learned a lot in a short time.
@clayboutique
@clayboutique 2 года назад
I personally use the clay softener. For your pieces not to break, it’s not the baking longer, though I always bake longer than recommended on the package, it’s to bake at the correct temperature. Your oven might read 275, but it’s not actually 275. If the temp is lower than it needs to be, the piece won’t fully cure and will be brittle and easy to break. Use an oven thermometer to check your oven temp. You can leave a piece in the oven for hours, without it burning, as long as the temp is correct. You can leave it in for hours and it not be fully cured if the temp was too low. I always bake for longer because it’s just better to be safe than sorry, IMO. I usually do an hour for a typical pendant/earrings.

@@clayboutique Thanks for the information. When I put the in for over 40 min they did better. I've got to find my thermometer in my appliance repair tools.
