Good information.. But according to my practical experience.. Single screw is better for scrab material special if its pvc.. And twins screw for fresh material.. What do you think of that?

Both types of extruders have their strengths and limitations. Twin screw extruder is generally preferred for color masterbatch production due to its excellent mixing efficiency as it gives better dispersion compared to single screw extruder.
Crystallization and drying are separate process but certain polymers like PET, Nylon, PLA etc do crystallize during drying. The purpose of drying is to remove moisture to protect polymer during compounding from hydrolysis degradation. Whereas crystallization and annealing is process to enhance strength or reduce stress after product formation. Level of crystallization in final product is also controlled by controlling the drying condition during product solidification. So crystallization and drying are different steps but for some polymer they can happen at the same time.
I want to mix polymer with FR and UV additives but twin screw extruders are much to expensive. Would you recommend a single screw extruder? Or do you think it wouldn't be worth it.
Single screw is suitable for polymer plasticizing extrusion and granular material extrusion processing, the raw material is relatively pure or single; Twin screw have better mixing&plasticizing ability, can proceed different materials, add additives , liquid,or powder.
By decreasing the distance between the flights which is also called pitch, we will increase the compression/shear thus can achieve better dispersion but it will also increase the back pressure so there has to be a balance between dispersion and throughput.
To achieve better dispersion of additives mostly twin screw extruder are used for cpvc pipes. But specially designed single screw extruder can also be used.

Price for twin screw extruder will depends on many factor especially throughput rate and l/d ratio. Basic one will be in the range of Rs10-50 lakhs and high end in the range of Rs 1- 5 cr. Some small low shear may be below Rs 5 lakhs too. There are several online platform where use can check the price for different types.
