The question with the answer as 3x⁴ + 7, you selected answer choice A as the solution. It should be answer choice C for the answer.

I need a little help with this question and figuring it out 3x^3 + x + 2x^3 -4x^2 + 14y - 2(y + x ) I’m a little confused on how to solve this?

You can combine anything that is a “like term” here, but first, distribute -2 to (y + x): - 2(x+ y) so multiply x and y by -2: -2x -2y So now we have: 3x^3 + x + 2x^3 -4x^2 + 14y -2y -2x Next, combining like terms: 3x^3 + 2x^3 = 5x^3 x -2x = 1x - 2x = -1x -4x^2 stays that 14y -2y = 12y So when it’s simplified it should be: 5x^3 -4x^2 -x +12y Hope that helps!

Can you explain why we subtracted 4xy and 2xy instead of adding them on the first one?

Great question! Since we have: 4xy + -2xy When you add a negative, it's the same thing as subtracting it. So it's the same as: 4xy - 2xy Then, we can just do 4 - 2 and get: 2xy Does that help?

How do I factor polynomials with three terms?

You'll basically just factor the same thing out of all three terms. For instance: 3x^2y - 6xy^2 + 12x We can factor 3x out of all three terms. Giving us: 3x(xy - 2y^2 + 4) You can check this works by multiplying everything on the inside by 3x to get back to: 3x^2y - 6xy^2 + 12x Hope that helps!

On the division question why isn't the answer C if you minus 6x from 2x you chose A so do you divide it or minus it because you chose A as the answer that just confused me.

Hey there, good question! I try to go into a little bit at 2:39 since breaking down a^3 • a^2 gives: a^3 = a•a•a a^2 = a•a So multiplying a^3 times a^2 gives: a•a•a • a•a And since we have 5 a's multiplied, that's why it becomes a^5. So even though it's multiplication a^3 • a^2, you'll have to add the powers. Hope that helps some!

I get confused on switching the + and - signs.

That's a common difficulty! The way I think of it is if there are parentheses and a - in front, it'll switch all the signs of the things on the inside. For example: (6x - 9y + 5) - (2x + 3y - 8) Becomes: 6x - 9y + 5 - 2x - 3y + 8 And then we combine like terms: 6x - 2x = 4x -9y - 3y = -12y 5 + 8 = 13 So the final answer is: 4x - 12y + 13 Hope that helps a little!

Hey man I think you made a mistake on the the Quotient problem. Wouldn’t the answer be C since it was 3x4th power plus 7.?

Thanks for your work I learned a few things about the calculator I didn't know how to use it I want to point something by the way You get a wrong unnser In one of the equations A) you failed to divide 6/2 instead of 3 you wrote a 4 and show the final result as 3 in one side and 4 in the other, don't much
