@@TheCkhutton12 I can attest that they are on point liver. I saw them during their Look But Don't Touch Tour and every last song was played with absolutely 0 mistakes. Even the song "Look But Don't Touch", which came out 6 days before the show, was literally played to a T. You can't be on point 100% of the time but they damn well are 99% of it.
Tim Henson is one of the greatest guitar players of this generation. Super talented, been listening to Tim and Polyphia for a couple years. Made me pick guitar up again alongside your videos
Yeah I agree. Tim is one of the greatest guitarist of all time even. Definitely deserves to be on that list. Older guitarists would look at what he's playing and fry a circuit or two.
I grew up with Hendrix, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie and a huge fan of EVH and I wouldn't be surprised if someone said that Tim is one of the greatest guitar player, ever. Even Hendrix and EVH didn't have Tim's level of accuracy, and while I'm sure there's someone, out there, who's just as good. Tim arranged and produced his songs, just like the greats of old.
6:24 you're right! If you have to learn Polyphia, you have to give up any chance of any other music. I started Polyphia 2 years ago and now all my repertoire is Polyphia. Nothing else is currently at my skill level. I breathe Polyphia. I live Polyphia. I suck at their music, but their music is my life.
why is this exactly, word for word, my same experience? i haven't tried to learn anything from anyone else that isn't polyphia in YEARS. they have absolutely no business being this good, but i'm so glad they are
Straight facts... Take it from someone who went from learning polyphia's music to... I guess you can say "standard" guitar playing... It just.. doesn't translate... Like every technique I've learned for polyiphia can't really be applied to anyone else and vise versa...
My girls got spayed two weeks ago and I was sooooo anxious all day. When I picked them up they were so out of it and looked so broken. It made me feel so guilty 😭 But it's good for them because research shows spayed dogs live longer and are less likely to develop mammary cancer. I hope your boy will do well! Usually for boys it's muss less invasive.

They are really great. I'm friends with Scott's dad, also Scott, and from the early days, he was one of the greatest guitarist in the North East. Could play anything, and play it perfect. So happy to see his son took it to another level.
When you were feeling good about yourself after learning some Randy licks earlier and then you see this and you’re like hey wait a minute someone can do that on guitar , that’s crazy and I love it. It’s like super progressive flamenco on meth or something. Those are some of coolest looking electric acoustics I’ve ever seen and I don’t like it electric acoustic guitars because they sound like neither nor to me, but ah ha now I see what they are for . This generation of guitar nerds are incredible musicians.
It sounds more like rumba tbh. There is a little difference between rumba and flamenco. Some musicians have mixed up those styles (Paco de Lucía, for instance, played a lot of rumba flamenca). Really loving the exploration of sounds by the band.
@@FranciscoAravena it’s cool sounding honestly it’s the first song I’ve actually listened to by them I guess I’ve been missing out, I love Spanish style finger picked or in this case hybrid picking. I don’t study it or search it out but the acoustic intro to Crazy on You and Uncle Tom’s Cabin ( not really flamenco or Spanish style playing ) to the Flamenco part Synster’s dad plays towards the end of Sidewinder. My grandfather loved country and bluegrass and I don’t but flat pickers and banjo players mesmerize me too. I need to check out some more of Tim Henson I honestly thought he was a really shreddy sweep picker type player and that’s cool but just not what I want to hear.
Prayers for Howard's swift recovery. I was a basket case when I took my boy in for that procedure a few years ago. He did fine as I'm sure will Howard. We'll need to see Howard highlighted in a future video when he feels better.
Gorgeous! I love classical style guitar, nylon strings, and all of the highly talented musical skill in acoustic guitar music you rarely hear anymore. Even if it isn't technically acoustic, like an Ovation guitar, I love it!
When I was learning guitar and first joining bands as a kid, I remember wishing I knew of a band that could really be off the wall challenging. There were always guitarists or genres that had a band or two that were always talented but it's crazy to me that bands like Polyphia or Chon are more common now than they were so many years ago. It just feels like a really necessary evolution in how to play and every song feels so unique. Always so cool.
Tim said in his recent Twitch stream that the song was finished two years ago, so it makes sense that you recognize the riff and that he talked about it back then on your podcast :)
That was quite the introduction to a new group for me. I've never heard of them but can see I was truly missing something special. I think I'll call this new genre "Goth Latin."
It's their most well known song I suppose but you should give G. O. A. T. By polyphia a listen. Pretty much anything from the album it is from is amazing.
Tim Henson's neck is extra long and his head is a bit small. Always get alien vibes from looking at him, but then I remember that his guitar skills are out of this world so it all makes sense again.
I think its a bit silly to lose faith in musicianship, young people will always stumble across progressive music and push themselves, no matter how niche those genres are. There are massively popular progressive bands around now, same as there always has been. There's also always been an abundance of shit coming out into the industry. It seems odd to have your perspective shift over time towards 'musicianship' dying out when music and instrument players have always culturally been extremely significant in every society that's existed and been documented. I don't mean to be patronising, its just worth keeping in mind whenever you feel that musicianship is dying that you are likely projecting based off emotion rather than facts, you might be going through a phase of being disinterested in music, but that sure as hell doesn't mean that someone right now isn't composing a masterpiece.

They’re playing the vocals on the guitar. For instance the beginning guitar solo after Tim’s intro in God ,is not a guitar solo! It’s simulating a🔥azz rapper ,coming out hard AF and dropping the first verse! Immediately after Tim Henson then drops his verse just as 🔥! Their music is based on musicians writing ,composing and mixing all genres of music. Creating all the bass parts,vocal structures,guitar harmony’s ,hip hop rap and R&B vocals ,then playing them all at once, together on just a guitar done by one person ,or in this case ,individually buy each of the two guitar players. Polyphia simply mixes all genres of music ,their rock and rap harmonies and their vocal lyrics ,then all written,composed and played on a single guitar ,wether they’re live or in studio! It’s one man doing what a 5 piece band can barely all do together and it’s Ultra impressive to say least. Unequivocally this is next level complicated music with more emotion and structure than some give them credit for! The bottom line is It’s not just music but artistic writing and musical brilliance at some of it’s absolute finest and most genius! As a professional studio musician ,Drummer and lead guitarist I can say I both hear and feel the absolute magnificence of Polyphia! -Crisis

Been a subscriber to this channel for a couple years now and even listened to some of your much older vids and I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but something minor has changed. I don’t know if recently you started smoking a little herb, but you seem more mellow, mindful and chill in a very good way. Either way content is great and I love it Tyler. OMG my guitar teacher has recently introduced me to ployphia and I have been listening to them nonstop all weak I have not been able to stop I lover there style so much but what I trying to say is I think I found the musical style I want to base my own musical style off of. In case someone is wondering the guitars are/is custom Ibanez Talman nylon-string. First it looked like SC500N, which Tim also has, but it is not. Though I guess it's very similar with that one.
I worked with a drummer who would roll his eyes up & all you would see were the bottom of his eyes. Man could he play. I could tell the song just by his playing.
That genre in question, that one part with the whistling, sounds like elevator music or video mini golf or something. This is the sickest song ever and it's not even djent. I purchased it.

Hoping your boy is doing well. I have had dogs all my life and I completely understand the need for distraction when they are going through a difficult time. I have Dobermans so I get the bloat concern and staying on top of medical issues,. So much to worry about, but I wouldnt trade anything for their love.
