Hey guys! GullYY here, welcome back to another epic Polytopia video! Recently, a new beta update for Polytopia was released that altered some of the aspects of the naval rework currently in progress. This update buffs lighthouses, nerfs rammers, and alters many other aspects of naval combat and the game as a whole! I hope you enjoy!

I'm really happy that taking a village doesn't produce fire as I feel like I'm peacefully teaming up with smaller settlements and fighting against other empires. Also if you burn other villages, it feels like they would hate you and work against you (ie. daggers and cloaks)

that could be an interesting comeback mechanic. any time player A loses a city he gets a cloak would be interesting

I love this dev team so much. It feels like the disconnect between players and devs is massive nowadays, so it’s refreshing to hear devoted devs listen to the community to make a fun game. So excited for this update!

Yup! There was a lot of communication, especially on the official poly discord server. Zoy, one of the devs, even did a q&a about the patch and answered questions. The devs have a really really good communication with the poly community

The new sprites are so pretty. The old ones looked like toy boats (esp. the giant boat). The new ones look more polytopiacore.

I had a bardur spawn with no turn 0 upgrade in the live game which was both strange and frustrating.

I love to see a "destroyer" like boat that's durable but not quite tanky and either has high damage and but can only hit water units or has mediocre damage but deals significantly more damage to water units and is somewhat quick

I don't think damage increases for specific units fits Polytopia. Counters against units should happen naturally. Knights don't counter catapults cause they deal more damage to that specific unit, but because they're fast enough to reach them and have persist to chain through units.

IF you've fully maxed out 4 branches of the tech tree and somehow found a way to place a forge, windmill and sawmill next to the market which is also next to a port

I play elyrion a lot and not having juggernaut sucks they are basically water dragons that are supper cheep and very tanky I go catapults almost every game because I’m very scared of navel units

I felt the bombers were stronger than the rammers because of the area of effect that was similar to the dragons that I find to be like damn f16 fighter jets. If you station a few of them, they can utterly obliterate brigades

Non aggression pacts already exist in the form of peace treaties, and why make an opponent a vassal if you could just take their land?

@@Superficial_Intelligence Peace treats are more then non agression pacts. They are like friendship pacts. Non-aggression packs can be concluded between enemies.

@@Mark-qk5sr But you get more resources from taking them over so it isn't really a waste. Also how would a non-aggression pact be diffirent from a peace treaty? It's have the exact same mechanics of tribes not being able to attack each other.

@@Superficial_IntelligenceOur peace yreaty make you friends, that concludes 'silly' opinion to tribe in war with your friend. It makes this pacts "Friendship" treaty. And yeah, vasals can be forced to pay an a half of their income. Why not? 🤔

Upgrade Cost : 10* ATK : 3 Defense : 2 Range : 2 Movement : 3 Traits : Sneak, Hide Hide - you can see the unit, but can't hit it while Hide. The unit gains it after moving So you have to choose : Move or shoot.

@@generalpierogi7781 Don't compare Polytopia's fantasy elements to literal nuke weilding submarines from the cold war. No tribe has the tech to create an air tight submarine with pressure resistance and oxygen supply. At least Giant bugs and dragons can be simply explained as just the local wildlife.

I really dislike the lighthouse change because it will cause balance issues in pvp, spawning in the corner will have an advantage compared to spawning in the middle. I’m don’t think the extra space from spawning in the middle can make up for the early pop difference.

@@drenz1523 polytopia is based on snowballing, so one pop early can be a pretty big deal, especially for specific tribes. For yadakk for example, the additional pop can let you build less roads, and also upgrade you capital 1-2 turns earlier. For t0 tribes, the extra pop lets level your capital to level 3 earlier, also letting you use those stars earlier. And in general, it’s equivalent to at least 2 stars, or an extra t1 warrior which can explore and capture villages(technically the bottleneck is usually cities and unit capacity, but you get the point).
