Hello GAMERS! GullYY here and welcome back to another epic Polytopia video! In this video, we're diving into the new map-type that was created in the Path of the Ocean Polytopia beta update. It's called Pangea and, well, it looks like Pangea! I really enjoyed this map type and will definitely be playing on it more. Thanks for watching!

I always though that it would be cool if the tribes had a little boost in their starting tech. For instance, now that roads cost 3☆, maybe it could cost 2☆ for yadakk

@GingerSalmon I'm aware how strong bardur is/was. I started playing back when chopping gave 2 stars knights had 15hp and luxidor had a lvl 3 city

They should do little rivers through it, not complete but like 4-7 linked tiles

It would be cool if the starting tech of each group was buffed like yadak gets 2 star roads and oumaji gets cheaper riders

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking though, perhaps imperius could harvest fruit for 1 Star, or Vengir Swordsmen deal more damage, zebasi get more food from farms. I love the concept of tribe specific boosted techs

My only complaint is that you basically don't need to reply on navy at all, maybe they can add in a few rivers streams here and there, could also lead to more bridge play too

That's what continents is for, pangea is pretty much supposed to be drylands but with water around the border

In online games it will not go like in this video against AI. It will be longer games, so naval unites will be used

@@seventeen777 Yeah but its kinda sad that the new bridge mechanic wouldn't (can't) be used on the new map type, not to mention that really only half of the map _can_ (not will) even be affected by naval units since they have limited range, so people can pretty much ignore it the naval aspect of the map if they get mathematics and prevent a naval buildup whilst rushing the cities on land. At some point, why wouldn't you just play drylands since the water aspect of the map type isn't really impactful at all?

Yadaak seems like it is doing fine with the nerf. I personally actually kinda like it, because prior to the nerf, the early game investment of a few roads for what are essentailly better riders would almost always pay off with how fast you expand.

Are the Pangea maps proportional? Meaning like do massive maps have a larger water ring around the central land mass. Or is it always a band of 1-3 water tiles around the center. I phrased this question badly but hopefully someone can answer it.

@@GullYYGamer I was hoping that was the case because as soon as this update is fully released I was planning on making a massive Pangea map with all my friends, but if there was only a small strip of water I wouldn’t bother.

I think Quetzali are maybe buffed by the Naval Update? They don't massively rely on lumber huts, plus once you get on the water you instantly have access to 15hp naval units

Pangea map is perfect for competitive games. Imagine a 4 player free for all with only special tribes on pangea. Shit would be epic!

Do a challenge on this map type. For example you can only take coastal cities until you’ve explored all lighthouses. Only then you can take land based cities to win the game. Would love to see more challenges done by you!

This update looks super good! I feel like the AI would be able to solidly look better with just a few tweaks on how the AI chooses what units to train when it's under pressure.

actually capturing a vilalge forcefully causing a burning effect was a feature, but they removed it in a later update so you cant see it anymore

With bots Yadakk is fine, my worry is other players that has good economies or strong armies at the beginning because Yadakk's advantage was being very mobile and that is very expensive.

unfortunate that they took away navalons from elyrion, removed away some of the unique gameplay and now made it just like every other tribe on water

Yeah. However, Elyrion in general was absolutely buffed. They should add a fighting star fish doe.

@@deghui They got buffed indirectly: Since customs houses were replaced by markets, which are arguably worse, Ely's access to sanctuaries as an early income boost got buffed... I'll still miss the Navalon though

Heres an interesting tactic you could have employed at 6:43: You could have seiged that Zebasi city by spawning a Nature Bunny South of Ezorkkol and bouncing off it into the Zebasi city. Great video keep it up!

I don't understand. How did you beat the AI in less than 20 turns !? It takes me 35 to 40 turns, even with a 'good' start.

Skill and experience, basically. He's been playing this game for a while. If you are at his level of gameplay in those regards, crazy bots should be quite easy. But it's also the map type, number of opponents, rng, etc.

Due to the fact that the Yadak tribe has a bridge and a market, we can give up hope that this can be used profitably somewhere. But in any case, the yadakk became weaker than before. Economic tribes only strengthened their position in maritime renewal.

Personally, I think removing splash will suffice. But idk, a big issue with the bommer is that it's hard to kill it with land units.

I'd say just nerf the damage of both the main attack and the splash to make the bomber more about weakening land armies rather than just decimating them

Beta isn't coming to mobile, and all the devs have said is "expect a long beta development phase" so I would imagine atleast a few months

Neutral villages used to be seen getting captured through the fog, but it was changed sometime before moonrise so they couldn't, which leads me to believe that this is probably a bug

Actually, it's not as bad as it seems. Many will now be discouraged with getting roads, which means Yădakk has the advantage of already having roads. The start is slower, but only by one turn.
