Using an old rusty tractor I am essentially Excavating and dredging the small pond that has been overtaken by grass Mounds, and other Aquatic vegetation. This is the hillbilly way!
I use hog panel. Cut the bottom and both side wires off and bend the ends in to create a hook. Wire some junk to the bottom to hold it down. And hook a chain to it on both ends. Secure the chain with wire in multiple spots and hook back to itself. Secure hook with wire. Then use a truck to pull it across.
WELL DANG!!! This is the most excitement I've had in the last three weeks! I don't know how RU-vid's algorithm sent me here but DANG!! Nothing wrong with folks who think outside the box a little and have a nice mix of pride, humility and resourcefulness!
That was worth it just to get the satisfaction of seeing an old POS lawn tractor get dragged into the drink. How I would love to have ben able to do that with some of the equipment that I have had trouble with over the years! And you got the bonus of cleaning out your pond in the process. Very creative!
I love it. A large fabricated rake would do well but good use of the scrap metal you had! I’m doing my own pond restoration And am looking to use a similar method of steel cable and winches.
@@bobstranzenbach4700 Cleaning small ponds is serious work. For preliminary cleaning, to collect large debris, we use a harrow. And to remove bottom sediments, leaves, silt, dirt, we use a motor pump for dirty water.
@@bobstranzenbach4700 In general, it is better to have two motor pumps. One motor pump supplies clean water to the nozzle and loosens the bottom. The second motor pump is for dirt, pumps out dirt and dirty water is supplied to the sump.
