I am curious to know if the new skimmer helped with the cedar needles getting into the pump? We have to remove and clean our pump once a week because pine needles go through the skimmer basket and get past the filter pads. Put a mesh bag around the pump, but it jams up too. I am wondering if a solids handling pump will push them into the wetlands filter, or would they just wrap around the impellor? I've tried a mesh screen inside the skimmer basket but that got clogged and starved the pump of water. I'd be happy if I could get two weeks between pump removals. Great videos, lots of good information for us DIYers.
I have been watching all your videos and have learned everything and appreciate all your attention to detail it's amazing I would like to know when it's beneficial and or necessary to install a bottom drain and when you can only have a skimmer or two for a small pond with fish and thanx again
great series! i'd like to see a video on the workings of the bio-mechanical waterfall. there doesn't seem to be a product review or anything to inform on it's components or how it works. for me the nearest Helix dealer is 3.5 hr drive away. Pleae
Serious question, how many times have you fell into a pond I often see you standing on Rick in or around the ponds have any ever slept you you went in ?? Cheers thought that this could be a laugh 😜😜😜😜😜 Love the vids you've inspired be to get a pond and have some koi Cheers Tommy 😃😃
Is it ok to clean the surface of an existing liner with acetone? And, is it advisable to use the liner seaming primer on the skimmer and liner surfaces before the actual sealant?
OK Eric how many times did you fall in that pond? I want to see the bloopers video. Lol! Michael over Oasis Aquatics just got mine in. Can not wait to pick it up. Eric again great series. I'll be in touch soon to give an update on everything. Thanks Eric!
Eric, that's some major Sucking action there at the end. You've got me impressed with those Helix Skimmers. The concept makes total sense. Have been using only Aquascape ones since 2006 occasionally. I will be going full time installing all types of water features by the end of this season. Where do I get these in eastern Canada? Any contractors using in Ontario? BTW, these 11 videos on the pond skimmer swap out were well done! Love your Milwaukee line of tools also!! Keep up the great work Eric!
I sure wouldnt mind one of these for the rebuild, but I think I have to stick with my crystal falls skimmer since its not too old. But I do need a new a new waterfall filter since this tetra crap I have is generic and the attempt to make 2inch pvc pipe fit was not the prettiest. LOL
ThePondDigger Very nice! I got a big hole in the yard at my moms, I need to figure out whats going in and get working! I think she is getting upset. LOL
