Great video of what's probably the UK's only "double crossing"! Those Pike LEDs have certainly gotten a bit crusty-looking over the years. The two wigwags mounted on the same side of the road's a bit strange as well, though it makes sense given the sharp curve and the lack of room on one side. Also interesting how many crossings on this railway only have only one alarm at them, kinda reminds me of most of the gateless crossings here in Alabama (and much of the southeast), lol.
Thank you very much! I've never seen two quite this close together at all, even two in Woodbridge (Sun Wharf / Lime Kiln) seem very separate compared to these. There are actually four alarms here, though it seemed to me like possibly just the two worked (those on the 'main' crossing it sounded). Those two near Blaenau Ffestiniog (Glanypwll and Stwlan Dam) both had just the one alarm each, though.
The B crossing alarms are disconnected, have been since we recommissioned this crossing after a car wiped out the interlocking locations in 2017ish. They are a hang over from the original 2009 Henry Williams install, as are the Pike signal heads. There wasn't any point in them as the main crossing sounders are perfectly loud enough for the pedestrian traffic over the B Crossing. It does sound like the sounder on one corner of the A crossing is dying though! There is also a UWC "C" crossing right next to the B crossing.
@@EastAngliaLevelCrossingsUK Any others I've heard that people have called 'faulty' have been set up incorrectly, and I really meant more 'with wobbly, faulty tones' to be honest
@@JPLCUK Both actually, in both directions. For trains coming from the station, the train has to stop for a token exchange, so you'll easily be able to predict the activation for that.
Those LED lights look similar to Northwood Halt but they're retrofitted with LED's Also the B Level Crossing alarm is very bad there. Has it been replaced with a new one now?
These are also PIKE wigwags like those at Northwood Halt. I don't believe either alarm works on the 'B' crossing, and the faulty one is actually coming from the main crossing. Not sure if anything has been done to it since.
