The Pontiac GTO's big brother was the luxurious and powerful Catalina 2+2 coupe, so it makes sense that our restomod concept would be as just as wild. The original muscle car - the 1964 Pontiac GTO - also had a bigger brother. It borrowed European terminology for its name: the 2+2. Pontiac’s 1965 Catalina 2+2 was a sporty, full-size coupe. When 1965 came around, the Catalina was all-new, and the 2+2 performance model came with a big powerful engine, suspension upgrades, and cosmetic differences.
This short-lived muscle car lasted only a few model years until 1967; it didn’t sell well, and buyers preferred the smaller, lighter Pontiac GTO, but there’s no denying the appeal of the Catalina 2+2’s long flowing lines.
