Another great video! I’m learning a lot about this 45 year old car I bought!

Could you have installed longer studs and run a non-stud spacer instead? Just wondering. Thanks for the video by the way👍

I could have but I’m running a 2” spacer so they would have had to be very long studs

great video, thanks for sharing. I just have to do it on my 1978 transAm, but I still have drums. I don't think it makes any difference. Cheers from France

Shouldn’t be any different on the drums just have to pop off the drum, shouldnt even need to pull the brakes apart

Great video! I’ve got a ‘77 Trans Am and think I may need to change mine out too..how come you didn’t do the other side too? And do they need to be packed with grease?
@hodgepodgegarage3911
@hodgepodgegarage3911 2 года назад
Cuz the other side wasn’t leaking lol it definitely wouldn’t have hurt to do the other side but I’ll cross that bridge later lol as for the grease, I’ve heard plenty of people swear by it but I’ve also never done it and I haven’t had any noticeable issues, but I’m sure someone will say I’m wrong lol

@@eliasmaximus4857 as long as it’s not red lock tite lol I used to work on cop cars when they were crown vics and they would eat wheel bearing all the time, and I had 2 of those bolts strip and not come out, you can’t drill it out only thing to do is torch it out 😳

@@eliasmaximus4857 Any heavy duty grease will be enough at least it until the gear oil gets to it. Dry bearings are cause for disaster.

@@danielesilvaggi thanks for that info. Just about at the stage where I’m taking off the bearings. Still have lots of crud in the tubes and need to wipe that all off first. Guy I bought the rear end must have left it outside too long

@@danielesilvaggijust put in my axles and almost done putting the new disc brake kit. Looks like you joist lube or oil the bearings, not grease, since the bearings get lubrication from the gear oil
@danielesilvaggi
@danielesilvaggi Год назад
@@eliasmaximus4857 Yes they get lubed from the gear oil but you need to pre lube them before you drive. Never drive them dry in the beginning just like you would never not lube your cam and lifters before he first start.
