I’m a Toyota technician You can do those actuators with out taking out the dash apart all you need is 1/4 palm ratchet but for the radio just get a harness kit they have them at Best Buy and you literally just plug it in to the OEM harness and it only gives you the wires you need to do an aftermarket radio
Wow great vid. My issue is lack of heat in the winter here in Canada. Dispite flushing the system twice and the heater core separately I still get only modest heat. This helps to clear up some issues with the approach to solving my problem so 👍👍. My fan resistor failed today so this will help big time in deciding the best approach. It's always a challenge to figure out how much effort to invest in an older vehicle.Thanks
Very nice! This will be handy reference if I ever need to do that service. One thing I've done in the past to my Vibe was using some silicone to glue some aluminum window screening across the opening for the cabin fresh air intake under the cowling to keep mice from entering the cabin. I've seen too many photos on the forums of mice chewing through the cabin air filter to one dying in the squirrel cage fan, and I'd prefer not to have to deal with mice on the inside of the car.
i own a basic 2003 pontiac vibe and was wondering if it is possible to add the automatic door locking mechanism, aswell as the automated windows? ive tired looking it up but the are no good videos explaining how. is this something you would be able to demonstrate?
I changed actuator, and it stays constantly in position outside air. To svitch on inside, I have to hold button. Once I release it, door goes back. Is there any relay for it?
What is the assembly with the blue relay boxes seen at 19:06. I have one of these and one of the slots for the larger relays is melted. I cant find the part anywhere. Maybe im just looking for the wrong name
Is there any chance that you know how to remove the trim around the gear shift and knows for the ac? I'd like to replace the cigarette light with a panel mount usb port for my aftermarket radio.
Regarding the blend door actuator... Yes you can open up the actuator to rotate the output gear by 180 degrees but why bother? I just put the actuator on the bench, connected the motor to 12 volt power, let the output gear rotate 180 degrees, disconnected the power and re-installed the actuator. It has been running fine for about 10 years now. This is a lot faster than disassembling the actuator to rotate the gear and eliminates the risk of breaking the plastic clips that hold the halves of the actuator case together.
does anyone have any explanation as to why my matrix cooling fan comes on when the car is just started when the ac is on? turn ac off and the cooling fan turns off until needed when the car get to running temp ... then turns on and off when needed
Is the A/C on max/recirc? That will often trigger an override on the fan making it come on - helps ensure maximum A/C efficiency. But you are saying it comes on and then once the car warms up it goes back into on/off when needed even with the A/C still on. Must be something in the programming. I can't recall if this car did that - I'll try and ask the owner if I get a chance, especially as we are entering summer season. Maybe someone else with a Vibe or Matrix can comment if theres does this also - if so, must be part of the programming. Cheers!
@@VortexGarage thank you for responding, the car is cold and the high speed cooling fan is on without the AC on, the car gets to temp and the fan comes on and works intermittently without the high speed fan relay in, the fan won't come on even when at running temp, the cooling only happens when the compressor kicks back in I'll try starting the car with ac on and inside air turned off however, my inside/ outside mechanism isn't closing and reopening the outside air door ... on the matrix, it seems to be on the right side of the cabin filter, is this the blend door? or is the blend door for the cabin heat control and in a different location? if so, what's that mechanism right side of filter called and what's the quickest way to change or repair it?
