I've been a player for most of my life, (52 now) & I find your instructional videos very easy to follow. Pool is not suppose to be difficult although difficult shots do appear, you provide the solutions to make the game easier. Great work. Be well, Al-Fu
Totally agree a seemingly simple perfect stop shot can speak volumes about your technique. It took me a long time to figure out why I was putting inadvertent side spin on the cue ball, even when it looked like a perfect center ball stroke. Eye position and stroke. Now, I feel great when the cue ball stops perfectly in place. Seeing someone execute a nice stop shot gives me a clue as to how good they are. He or she knows what they are doing. You asked how many in your video. For long stop shots, I'll keep that secret for now. A few maybe. :)
Yesterday I could not make more than 4 balls on the last drill. This morning, I chocked on the 21st, so final score 20! Sometimes, sleep changes everything! Thanks a lot for the good videos! A++
Damn man that drill for cue control is insane! I absolutely love it and will give it a try! I have been watching a bunch of these types of videos and it has dramatically improved my game, thank you so much for these videos and please keep them coming!
Good clip, short and to the point. I will be checking out these drills next time I’m at the pool hall. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, saludos amigo from south Texas.
Great drills. I like how you make a game of the first one with the target landing zone. Im trying to teach my 9yo & 12yo and their friends how to play on my home table right now, but these drills will hell my own game too.
I did the drill at 2:30 in the video this afternoon. I'm no where near capable of doing it in one go, so I'd keep trying a shot until I left myself reasonably without hitting another ball and go from there. I learned quite a bit that way. I left myself close up by the 10 ball for my shot on the 3 with only a slight angle to the short rail. I couldn't hit the bottom of the que ball because I was shooting over the 10, and I ended up using heavy follow with a bit of left english to get position on the 4. Then I had to thread the needle again to get position on the 5. Those each took me around 20 tries to figure out. I was getting to the point where I was building a bit of consistency in my position, and I was just trying to fine tune the speed or the angle. At least that way I know I'm not just fluking the ball into position. I still need a lot of practice.
That's refreshing to hear. Usally I just hear that I am a good teacher. But a lot of people forget that I am also a player. But the be honest, I have way more success in teaching :)
I could make ONE (in a row) on the last practice. It improved each time I tried it, though. On the second practice, I could get up to 7, after a few tries I got to 11, need more practice! (A lot more!) I was doing pretty well on the first practice, but, that was a fluke, after that, mostly 30% success.
Great practice drill,I also am left handed, looks like your body is sideways when your over the cue ball, can you go over your stance in one of your videos, thx👍
Love you videos! Thanks for the tips! Was wondering if you could tell me the best way to shallow or widen an angle when hitting a cue ball off a rail, such as when an opponent's ball is blocking a shot and you have to play the cue ball off of the rail and into your object ball in order to bypass their ball. Any help would be appreciated. Not necessarily a kick shot, but say cue ball is on the left side at one end of the table and the object ball is also on the left, but at the other end of the table with a blocker in between. So a skip off the rail into your object ball cutting it in down the rail into the corner
Thank you! I am not sure if I got your explanation right. But I am currently planing a video on how to widen or shallow the angle when hitting the rail, with the exoplanation why this works physically. If you want, you can recreate the situation on www.pooltable.sharivari.net and share the link with me.
Your last practice shown is very close to one of mine. I try and pocket the object and the cue ball at the same time. My technic sucks!!! I can't get enough backspin to stop the shot over a 9 foot table. And potting even just the object ball is tough for me. Do you have any videos or hints that would help with my cueing accuracy? Great video!!!! As always!
That definitely requires a very accurate stroke, but a very good drill. Well, that's hard to tell because I don't know your technique. I can only suggest things like to check your stance, eye alignment, 90° angle of your arm, baseline, smooth backswing and grip on the cue.
@@Sharivari , last night a friend noticed that I sometimes have my back hand move away from my body, and other times I tuck my hand towards my body. I adjusted my stance to let my hand pass forward more. I then took extra time to ensure my whole cue was in a complete alignment with where I wanted the shot to go. In the past I had the tip of the cue where I wanted but the back hand had me cueing across the ball. Another friend told me to think of the back hand coming forward and coming through to pick up the cue ball. All that started me winning regularly against friends who general won most of our games. Thank you for all the great videos! The time you put in is greatly appreciated be all, I am sure. The production quality is top notch! All the best, and peace be with you. Some Guy
@@Sharivari , I have been working on getting my stroke straightened out. I can usually get a reliable stop shot up to 4 or so feet. Longer than that and I'm not hitting the object ball well enough for a stop shot and the cue ball usually moves to the right with some small spin. Your demo got me ticked off at myself for not having the skill to get that stop shot working well. Where I usually hang out, I'm now finding it difficult to get just practice time at the tables are well used. But I shall press on. Great videos!
Would it be beneficial to use back hand english on shots like at 2:10? Where you have little to no angle but need the cue ball to move further along the tangent line??
I sill have a problem understanding when and how to use English. I guess I’m slow. I used to play better without it, but I’m determined to learn it and just want to. Can you please help,me better understand?
As a beginner, I'm not a fan of that second drill... I'll make a mistake after a few balls and have to set everything up again. I ran into this with a similar drill... I'd make two shots, and mess it up, and have to walk around, set up, only to mess up on a different shot.
