In this lesson I am showing you whether it's clever to play a draw shot or to apply spin / side / english. I show you this on the most popular shot, that you already know from one of my other lessons.

A few people already made me aware that the angles aren't correct. 30° angle is actually a 150° angle, 50° angle is actually a 130° angle and 70° angle is actually 110°. Thanks for the hint, obviously I was a little negligent when I was making the graphics. Sorry for that mistake guys :)
@maximilian1706
@maximilian1706 6 лет назад
Nice video! 30, 50 and 70 are common angles even if it doesn't match with your picture. But I've got another question: are you sure that the last angle was 70 degrees? As for me it looked like approximately 60 degrees. this 10 degrees have very much impact on the tangent line and on the amount of spin induced throw you create (much less with 70 degress).

It's because the real angle is diffrent when u look at it with ur eyes without any measuring equipment the close the balls the more difficult it is to Guage the aim especially back cuts lol

I was about to make my own comment on the angles but since you've already made the correction, all I can say now is thank you so much for yet another informative video that will certainly improve my game. Thanks again and looking forward to the next one.

I agree with the comments by others that your use of graphics was extremely helpful. Another popular pool tutorial site relies on just a lot of talking with poor camera angles and minimal use of any supporting graphics. As a result, learning from that site is inhibited. While you’re running monologue was extensive, it was also directed to the point being made without a lot of excess banter, Again unlike the other site I’ve mentioned. Keep up the good work.

The combination of the illustrations and playback, especially the fact that you show the cue ball and the contact points are excellent. This is the way I learn, not just from being told, but from having a clear picture in my mind from all aspects. Thanks so much.. !!

This like many other videos I've seen from Sharivari is top notch pocket billiard instruction. Not only is everything he covers in this video true, but also the video production shows where to hit the cue ball based on it's location in relation to the object ball and we can see the cue ball move and as it moves we can see how the side spin changes. Simply put, this is a damn good video for those who are interested in improving.

Excellent stuff as always The 9 being off the rail allows the cue ball spin to take. If the 9 was frozen or just a hair off the rail, it changes the shot. Also you can overhit the ball no matter how much spin you put on it which will prevent the cue ball English to perform like you want it to. Speed is huge on these shots.

It's funny that years ago i struggled with this exact shot.. weather to use low right or just right on that shot. Couldn't find the answer anywhere and had to figure it out myself. You up and comers have a big advantage these days with RU-vid, you can take years off your game by watching videos instead of just figuring it out, or being lucky enough to have someone who would share that info with you. Back in the day, top players kept that kinda thing secret lol. Thank this man for helping you, this is the kinda information that will really help your game. In the end it's so much easier to just use left or right rather than using draw, you can hit the ball slower which improves the likelyhood of making the ball.

What a great video! I am an intermediate player and this concept has always confused me. You have explained it perfectly. Thanks so much. The one element to this that you could have added is the distance of the object ball from the rail. The closer it is to the rail, the less influence any draw on the cue ball will have.

Wow, incredible video. I love the detail you go into explaining this concept, and the visuals you use are invaluable to the teaching process. Not all pool videos show you exactly where you need to place the cue on the white ball when shooting, or explain how the change in english effects the path of the cue ball as well as the object ball, so thank you for explaining it so well. Yes, please make another video going into more detail about spin and throw. You can never go into too much detail in a video or make too many videos on this subject. That just gives me a reason to watch it again and again, LOL 😂. Also, a video on more banking techniques and how throw/spin will effect your banking or kicking at balls would be GREAT! I'd love to hear you to make a video just explaining more about exactly how the balls act like gears. That if one ball spins one way the other will spin the opposite direction. Also how the spin on the balls react when hitting a rail. Plus I rarely hear anyone talk about how chalk, dirt, oil, or water effect the balls, table, etc... Could you please make a video going into these things in detail (the way you always do😁) Thanks! Dee😊👍

@timothybolshaw
@timothybolshaw 6 лет назад
This is a good video. However, it is important to recognize that the reaction of the cue ball with side spin off the cushions varies tremendously from table to table. Side spin may also react very differently with a new cloth where the ball is skidding off the cushions. On an unfamiliar table, it may be better to use draw more often because the direction of the cue ball is more predictable. It is often a trade off between easier speed control and more predictable cue ball direction.
@sohailhines
@sohailhines 6 лет назад
OK, but the it's the same with draw or bottom-right english, so the concept is still quite valid.

Really enjoyed your video, very well explained and demonstrated. For me the biggest problem with using so much side would be the uncertainty of how much the path of the cue ball will be distorted by the side and feeling confident of consistently making the pot. For this reason I would normally prefer bottom with a dab of right, when possible. But I will be practising your shot first chance I get.

The simple rule to remember is you are using running side , this makes the angle wider and makes the cueball run at speed . Checkside ( woild be left handside here ) narrows the angle and slows the cueball down. Thats all you need to remember here .
