In 8 Ball, the opportunity might arise to use this method to break out a cluster, if you have a hanger you can call for your shot. Of course you could hit the hanger first to send the CB into the cluster, but the distance between cluster and hanger might make that risky, or you might want to collide into the cluster from a different direction, to avoid sending the clustered balls into other balls.
Absolutely right. Most important lesson in this video is there can be quantifiable methods to solving problems. A lot of people use their gut and experience to feel their way around this topic👍
I'm pretty sure sending the cue ball off a ball to pocket another ball is called a billiard. A carom is when you hit the cue ball into a ball, and that ball goes into the pocket off another ball... Carom shot equals "kiss" shot. But you could probably use the same method to aim either shot. It's easy to get the names mixed up since they are similar.
Hello. To be fair, I never use the term 'Billiard'. I believe to properly use that term you actually have to be playing the game of Billiards. The definition of a Carom is this : "A carom is any shot where the object ball or cue ball ricochets into another ball to move or pocket that ball. These shots are helpful when pockets are blocked or in situations you can only see a piece of your object ball and need to use the cue ball to pocket another ball." You're right. Truth is depending on a lot of factors, even being on the same size of table there might be changes. Example...type and condition of felt. I'm all about giving a frame of reference though.
OK So I had to burn down to my table and try this out. Verrrrryyyyy good first start. If I had to add to you description of aiming at the contact point. In your definition of contact point, when you aim at it, it might be on the other side of the first object ball, which you can't see directly when shooting. That's taking a bit of visualizing but early results had me sinking about half my shots right away. These important shots seem to have little coverage like what you are providing. Thinking on how I can extend this concept to breaking out balls or safeties.
Absolutely correct. This video demonstrated my system. It's a baseline though. You'll probably twerk it for your game. Also remember that all tables play slightly different so familiarize yourself to the playing field. Hopefully this shot doesn't come up too much but it's good to know🥙👍
One quick question when you say you are aiming center ball to the contact point Are you disregarding the ghost ball. Are you aiming directly mid cueball (center cueball) to the contact point
Wow this is a nice trick. I have another simple trici for caroms using rolling cue ball or high action. This is another variant. I'll definitely but this in my bag. Maybe you can also use this for safety play since you're picking a target. I know because the trick I use can be used for safeties and it is very effective. I would like to see a variant for safeties from your future videos.
@@HereAfterBilliards hello sir can you please help me. Can you please tell me how to count increments in between the diamond segments you're help would be greatly appreciated
@@repentedheart To be clear...your asking how I count incriments between the diamonds of a pool table? If that's indeed what you're asking I'll admit that I'm not the most sophisticated player when using the diamonds. In my banks and kicks video I use what I call "halfway diamonds". They're exactly halfway in between the marked diamomds. From there I think in terms of finger widths😅. Does this help?
Thanks man! I've known and played with Andrew since the mid 90's. Damn we're getting old. I'll be sure to head over to your channel tonight and sub. Cheers
I found this to be actually fairly often and yes, I aimed "through" the first object ball. I think it starts to play into his zones concept that you might need to draw it back some.
Done and done man. Invested in a new light that was closer to the ceiling and a new overhead cam. This increased the distance and I didn't have to have the wide setting on with the GoPro. It was bugging me too😉. All my videos after the 'New Pool Light' video you'll find the overhead cam shot to be much more pleasing.
Allow me to look up the exact definition of a Carom for you... a: a shot in billiards in which the cue ball strikes each of two object balls b: a shot in pool in which an object ball strikes another ball before falling into a pocket I hate being a failure😉😂
The definitions you use are correct, but you misunderstand what they are actually saying. If you notice the 1st definition says, “a shot in billiards…”. The word billiards is the key here. In Carom billiards or 3-cushion billiards, the cue ball must contact, or strike “each” or both of the object balls. In billiards, there are always 2 object balls. The 2nd definition denotes the game of “pool”, not “billiards”. In pool, there is only 1 object ball. In the game of pool, a billiard is playing the cue ball off ball A and then the cue ball pockets ball B. Ball B being the object ball. Also in pool, a carom is when you shoot ball A off ball B, in order to pocket ball A. Ball A being the object ball. I don’t think you’re a failure or deserved to be insulted. It’s an easy enough thing to get mixed up and not important enough to lose sleep over. Even most pros use the word carom for both billiards and caroms. Ignore the rude comments and keep up the good work.
@@NaradaBluz Per the Oxford dictionary, carom is correct. Happy 4th of July, FYI Americans got tired of dealing with oppressive lords & now we do things our way.
