I started using it right after watching and has helped my game a lot. I'm new to the game so experience will only help me use this and some of your other videos. My rank is only a 3 but have won a few matches over opponents ranked 5 and 6 using this video (and another video you made). Will be watching more and thanks for sharing the techniques and making them easy to use.
Huge compliment! Thank you very much and by all means keep playing and improving! We never stop learning. This sport we play can be frustrating but also very rewarding. I love it. Cheers 👍
Great system. I have a couple of refinements. Once you are comfortable with the system, change the order of steps. First identify the diamond that you will use and then calculate the amount of variance. That way you have to remember the adjustment for a shorter period of time. The second is when making kick shots do not aim your cue at the center of the ball but at the spot where you would hit the ball in order too make the shot. As in the eleven ball kick shot, instead of aiming directly at the center of the ball with your cue, aim at the spot where you want to strike the eleven in order to pocket it.
Wow! I tried this today. To date this is the best system that has worked for me. I was surprised how well I was making my banks. My percentages went from about 15% to 65% and I only practiced it today less than an hour. The hardest part was seeing the diamonds, and also estimating the diamonds in between the marked diamonds. I think with more practice my percentage is going to improve. I am actually thinking about taking a hole punch to some sticky back labels and using them to mark the diamonds in between till I can visualize them better. I thought I saved you video on my phone, but somehow lost it. Since is had worked so well I wanted to watch it again. I searched on my laptop till I found it tonight. Thanks so much!!!
I'm really glad it's worked for you! Everyone learns differently but for me this system really resonated with me after I learned it. You made my day with this comment! Cheers
@@HereAfterBilliards I noticed that you didn’t have any recent videos up. I had played on and off since the early 90s and I have never seen this system I had gotten lessons from Hunter Lambardo, Rodney Morris, Steve Cook, Tommy Kennedy, Mike D, no one has ever showed me the system . Videos from buddy hall, nick Varner, bugs rocker, read, and countless other people it’s amazing to me that it’s very simple I don’t know if it’s a subconscious thing or just Magic but it works great
@@andyharris3376 Honestly it's like I said in the video. We watched a guy in Vegas using it and he explained it to us after we asked. Whether he made it up or he was taught it by someone else I don't know. I'm the same as you. It just works for me. It's gotten me out of trouble countless times. Thanks for watching? 👍
@@andyharris3376 OH and thanks for calling me out on content. Summers are very busy for me but I have to make time to shoot more videos! This is on me. Stay tuned👍
All of this boils down to your accuracy at hitting the "spot" so using this approach is probably about as good as I'm going to get anyway. Whether anyone wants to argue about proving this to be useful or not, I like it and it is just simp[e enough to make me think I can do this. It's all about confidence and if it improves that, you are ahead of the game. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video and system, Andreas. I have seen SVB use the cue stick on the near rail in tournament shots. I never realized what he was doing. It now makes sense to just lay the cue on the near rail to visualize the line from the near rail to CB center and beyond thru the OB center. He just does it without bending down.
He should also say ....it depends on how hard you hit the ball. notice he was hitting the cue ball with some force. If he hit it softer the object ball would fan out....harder it would shorten up, etc.
Hi again. Just want to say thank you for this simple technique to you, andrew and the guy who shared it. Yes, it is very effective and Ive used it for several times. Never got a bad shot. 👍👍👋👋👋
Thanks so much. I totally agree which is why I've used it since learning it all those years ago. It still takes practice but I'm very happy you found value in it. Cheers!
@HereAfterBilliards thank you, and what I mean is some tables or places have low light or worn diamonds so it tuff to use certain kicking systems, I'd like more of a system where diamonds are always needed , most of the time i use parallel or incorporate several systems ,the SID system is nice too,but if u could make a vid on simplifying kicking ,it be great ,thanks
If on kick shots you aim for the ghost ball spot (intended contact point) and then do your transition you'll be more likely to pot the ball than just hit it, unless you're trying to do a kick-safe.
Yeah that's the way I feel about it too. I'm good at math...but I don't want to do it when I play pool. I'm glad you find value in the system. I use it to this day
Thank you so much! Think I can do this. I am really still trying to learn and have watched so many videos. Determined to get my fundamentals down pat before I tried bank shots, or English. Think I am ready to try and make some bank shots in my game. This is the first system I have seen that is inline with the way I think about my angles.
You absolutely can do this and that's why I like this system so much and I gravitated to it. I hate math and trying to calculate lines on the pool table. Eventually you'll get to the point where you might want to augment this system with another more mainstream system. Think of it as a double check. You got this👍👍🔥
Thats great. To this day it's the way I like to get there as well. We all have our own tendencies so we may have to alter this and that depending on the situation we find ourselves in but this is a great starting point. 👍
@@HereAfterBilliards I have tried many banking systems over the years and, while they worked if mastered, tended to cause me to lose concentration in my approach to the rack. This simpler method allows me to solve the immediate problem without losing sight of the plan I had mentally established to deal with the remainder of the balls. Thanks again for sharing.
Well thanks for that. I will admit that it's not by choice. I used to have a 4 1/2 by 9 but I had to sell it when we built out the basement.🥺 I miss my 9 footer. I'm planning on buying some pro Ridgeback rails to tighten up the pockets and make it more challenging and precise👍
It might be interesting to also talk about CUT INDUCED THROW as it is definitely a big part of banking. But to be honest, at 7:45 I really thought you were gonna be short cause you didn't make up for the lost angle by CIT, nevertheless it still went in, which was a bit surprising. Such a cool video though man!
Yeah nothing's going to replace getting to the table and testing the system with your own cue. I need to figure out a better angle for my overhead view. It's a GoPro attached to my pool light but because I need it in the wide mode the picture is fisheyed. This system is a base to go off of. There's lots of other aspects like you mentioned that need to be taken into account. Thanks for watching!!
@@HereAfterBilliards exactly the same way you line up the one rail kicks. That is all about figuring out where you need to aim on the rail. I actually find it a bit easier to visualize which one of "the diamonds" I need to hit near with the 2 rail kicks also.
Another great focus is to imagine the ball going in reverse out of the pocket towards your bank. Run in forward and backward in your mind until you see the angle where it aligns both ways. Should get you even closer to the right diamond quicker.
Geometry is MATH. Using a diamond system to even find distance plus or minus (MATH) from a diamond, then using a second diamond system guessing through trial & error to find a target takes more time. Maintaining a numbering system will allow a player to see lines required for banking &/or kicking quicker. Like all systems, including this one, practice is key! Therefore, numbering systems used for banking & kicking eliminate multiple steps.
To each their own I say. I can't disagree with you. All our minds work differently and some will prefer one way over the other. I just wanted to get this system out there as I've never seen anyone talk about it before. Thanks for watching and commenting✔️👍
@@HereAfterBilliards I wonder is there any ordinary aiming system (not kicking or banking) that also using diamonds? I found it pretty fun using diamonds as reference, when it work it feels like magic 😂
@@Danumurti18 Hmm not that I know of. There's a bunch of aiming systems but in the end it'll come down to you understanding all the physics that go into a shot and fundamentals. Search out SVB aiming system or CTE aiming system. There's a bunch.
Lol lol I've been to the Riv back in 2000 at the APA conv. That's on the old end of Vegas Strip . I remember the Bellagio Hotel with the moving Silver Statue in the lobby before you got to the Casino and The Hotel that had the roller coaster in it that came up threw the Sidewalk out side lol 🤣. Those was the Days .. Nice Video Brother !!
I remember seeing this video some time ago and ive been looking for it till I finally found it and downloaded this video and certainly works for sure! Thank you
It's definately my go to system for single rail banks and kicks. Just be cognisant of your pace and the English you're putting on the cue ball and adjust the system accordingly for yourself. Thanks for watching!
@@HereAfterBilliards Okay . Tried it today . Played a few hours and used your method for kicks & banks . ( I was surprised how accurate it seems and so simple to see .) ( knowing diamond systems I was a little confused on why it seems to work .) unsure about how to use it for 2 rail kicks & banks . i thought it excellent. Shot with 0 English . Thanks ! Pp
@@pete-do3fz That's awesome. It's funny that you say you're unsure why it works because I've been saying that since I learned it all those years ago. I'm sure there's some mathematical reason why it does but I don't know it. The system is definately only a single rail system though. Thanks for the feed back!
@@HereAfterBilliards Listen . I wondered if it would work just for aiming any shots ( not banking and kicking ) Yes ! I used the cue ball and any rail through the ob ( similar to poolology ) to visualize the shot . ) accurate .
In a given bank shot, the aiming point for the object ball on the rail should always be the same, irrespective (more or less) from the exact cue ball's position. Therefore, this system cannot be correct (geometrically) and works (if it does) for other reasons than made explicit in this video.
Indeed. Many others have tried to figure it out. I wish you luck if you're going to try. 👍😁 For many who have tried the system...it just works for them...as it does for me.
Good point. What I would say is absolutely no juice and weight is a medium pace. Try to judge my weight from what you see on the screen. Obviously hitting the bank or kick with too much pace will lower the induced angle. Banks are dynamic but with this system all I hoped was to get it out there for people to try. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You're very welcome. For me it's the simplicity and ease on why I use it. All our brains work differently though and some people may like doing math😂 Thanks for the kind words!
I might one day but I think it would be a pretty boring video 😂. I shoot with an 18oz Huebler I bought in 1994 with my first summer job after high school. I fell in love with that cue and never looked back.
Really enjoyed your borrowed method for one rail banks and kicks, thanks for the coaching! One little thing...your introductory music just doesn't seem to fit ! Something a little calmer to set the mind to concentrate on the lesson!
There's a potential adjustment on every table I'd say. Set up a few shots to zone in and see. Remember that multiple factors go into a bank shot. Weight, spin and the table itself are all factors.
I have a Aiming system and it's pretty lethal but it's not free it's actually very easy to learn and once you learn it you will get the big head thinking you will be a pro soon but you will soon find out it's a lot more than making the ball that makes you Pro level but you will be able to make the ball a lot but my system is not for beginners is for intermediate to advanced level players a beginner could not understand it
I have 2 questions, are you from Washington state? Did you put any English on the cue ball when shooting these shots? You system is totally awesome as long as we have good aim. Thanks stephen from Seattle
Nope, I reside up in Alberta Canada. As for English...No. It's important to know that there's many factors that can effect what occurs when we attempt banking and kicking. English is obviously a big one but the other big one is the pace at which you hit the cue ball. You'll notice that I don't hammer any of the shots because that would effectively lessen the angle to which the cue ball or object ball comes off the rail. In short...practice this system at the start with no English and hitting at a medium pace. Then you can adjust and introduce other factors like English if the situation calls for it. Thanks for watching!
I don't see why or how this system would work. For the same bank moving the white ball obviously gets you different measurements, but the object ball still needs to hit at the same point of the cushion. Doesn't add up... Probably why I haven't heard of this "system" before.
OP sound afraid if banks, fear in his voice. He would be totally destroyed by the lowest level black players in Chicago who only play bank pool and one pocket. Prob make him quit playing pool forever 😂😩
That's a bit of a loaded question. Some frozen balls are simply impossible to make without a double kiss occurring. That being said I still use the system the same for frozen balls. It's up to you to determine if you can avoid the double kiss though. Watch this video for more insight into frozen bank shots. Thanks for watching and commenting👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WEsNDeTq-AA.html
Really! That's interesting. Well one thing you could do if there are no markers at all is put your own down. Measure exactly between the pockets. Take that measurement and divide by 4. That'll give you the measurement to throw 3 evenly spaced markers on your table. Do that between all the pockets. You could use loose leaf reinforcements to start. Maybe you can look online and order something more long lasting after that. Thanks for watching!!
@@HereAfterBilliards Reinforcements... thats the one!... Tables with no diamonds develops your 4D visuals...its enlightening when you don't normally look at things that way!.. cheers from NZ and make 2021 a good one 👍🇳🇿
Yup. Can't argue that...and I say that in the video. However I would argue that it doesn't take long as a new player to learn the physics behind the system👍Thanks for watching
Actually, "guessing" where to hit relative to the diamonds is the whole point of this. It actually doesn't matter where the cue ball and the object ball line up on the rail when you are setting up. I think it's just teaching you to focus on finding the right quarter-diamond area to aim for. Take any example in the video... if you take speed and spin out of it, once you place the object ball then there is one spot on the rail that will send the object ball to the center of the pocket. It doesn't matter where the cue ball is relative to the object ball. you can place the cue ball so that it intersects a diamond, or you can place it so that it's halfway between diamonds. You ultimately still need to hit the same spot on the rail to make it. So if the system works for you, it's because you are actually doing all the work! it's not the system. And in the end that's great because pros don't use math or diamonds to line up bank shots. they instinctively know (after hitting a million of them) where to hit them. In a somewhat roundabout way this is actually teaching you that.
@@jonforstrom1159 I was thinking the same thing when he talked about predicting which side of the diamond to adjust on. I have never used any "system" because I never learned one. I think, after several years of pretty much guessing which side the diamonds to use, this system could actually work for me. I think I just need to place more priority on seeing the fractions of the half diamonds. All of this boils down to your accuracy at hit the "spot" so using this approach is probably about as good as I'm going to get anyway.
@@HereAfterBilliards Not exactly. I see how you find the diamond on this rail (straight line from the object ball to cue ball) but I'm confused how to locate the right diamond on the opposite rail
No not the whole time but the third bank in the video I did add some pace to the bank and added some bottom to avoid the contract between the cue ball and object ball coming back. My GoPro is fisheyed and didn't give the audience a very clear picture at that angle. I have to do something about that. Either raise the camera or just shoot half the table in the over head. Thanks for watching.
Perhaps the lens ruins the visual I give you but not the system itself. I need to raise my light higher to the roof so that my Go Pro doesn't need to be set on wide to capture the entire table. Thanks for the criticism though. It's something I've been thinking about.
I respect your opinion. My one question to you is have you tried it? If you scroll through the comments here you ll see many many player saying it works for them. I'd like to hear your opinion after giving it a shot. That's all.
@@HereAfterBilliards The cueball position has absolutely no bearing on the point on the rail you need to hit in order to pocket the ball. Therefore when you use this system with the same object ball position and slightly move the cueball to different spots, the aiming point on the rail changes. Therefore it can’t really be accurate. Sure, maybe you can guess and slop some balls in on a bar table. You will never have any consistency with this system.
This is you don't know what about banks and never wanna. To really learn banks you need someone who loves to bank and passionate, which isn't OP. Find a black pool player.
I respect your opinion but the point I was trying to make is that banking is less safe than shooting a straight in shot. I always try to defer to that👍👍. Peace
@@HereAfterBilliards At approx 4:20 your aim point is the MIDDLE diamond between the long rail side pocket and corner pocket. Then (approx 4:43) you seemed to actually shot toward the diamond CLOSEST to the side pocket. Not a big deal, just something I noticed. Great video nonetheless 👍🏼🙂👍🏼
