Courtney & Michael: You two are funny. Half way through the video we knew that we would hire someone to keep our pool up to speed. No, seriously we knew it would take more than we have strength-wise to keep the pool maintained. I wish that we could have asked these questions when we met you, so this video has answered the questions. As always, we can count on both of you to tell the truth when it needs to be told. Thank you and take care.
You guys are awesome! Thank you for this. I am in Indiana and in the process of installing a 16 x 33 fiberglass. I am getting a Hayward heat pump but now wishing I had chosen the gas one. We were going to have to trench the gas line across the back yard and under our concrete patio but didn't want to do that because of water issues . Sigh! Your oasis is beautiful!
If you’re in the Manatee/Sarasota area, Superior Pools is great, Bulldog pools is a smaller locally owned company, Duwet is another local one we have had past clients use!
Hi Michael, this is Jimmy and Sally. We also have travertine and the pool builder told us to use Wet and Forget solution to spray on the travertine. It works like magic. It prevents algae growth for about 3 months until the next spray. Of course you need to pressure wash your travertine before spraying again.
Heat pumps work well in Florida. They are way more economical than gas. I have a pool in Sarasota that I keep 85+ degrees all year. Costs about $100 a month in the winter to heat 10k gallon pool. Just make sure to put a cover on the pool because evaporation is the quickest way the pool looses heat.
Great video. Probably the most relatable and in depth I've seen so far. We're putting in our pool Long Island, NY. It's my husband's dream come true so I know it will be worth it.
These types of videos are my favorites. I’d like to see a checklist for snowbirds leaving for months. Dealing with mail service, vehicles, fridge, toilets, insects, etc.
You can use white vinegar over the muriatic acid for the same result in cleaning the salt cell, at least based on my water/calcium build up. It's less harsh on the cell and easier to manage. I've been using it on our saltwater hot tub and pool for about 7 years
Great video. What month do you stop heating the pool? What will the ambient pool temp be say in July? Does it track closer to the daily high temp or the daily low temp (air temp)?
Small pools starts at $45k (just the pool) and then you need to add the cost of electricity, pavers, heaters, lights ( extras ..It usually comes with 1 light) slides, water fountains , enclosed gate..You are looking around $100k for a smaller pool than the one on the video.
We love your video ,because it gives us useful info. We feel kinda nervous, because builder is about to finish our new house and pool in North Port, that's where we going to move from Chicago and all that maintains around the house , with septic tank included is like black magic for us. Thanks again for showing all this procedures. By the way ... Your last name includes ours . We are originally from Poland and in our old language your name means ...
Awesome video! We are getting a pool and spa installed in Venice for around 93k with sun deck and fountain. Pool 15x30. What are your dimensions? Did you have any damage to your irrigation during install? What pool company did you use? I plan to do maintenance myself as well. I like this intro into it. Any other videos you recommend that you watched to learn how to do it?
Thanks! Ours is 24x14 .. minor damage to a few irrigation lines but easy to fix! Our pool company was out of Pinellas County at the time. Appreciate you watching!
A metal wire brush will probably void your interior finish warranty. It will also scratch tiny grooves in the surface that will allow algae to lock in place.
Not necessarily anything special.. it's a natural stone so it has a more porous quality than a paver. It is very durable and we just liked the way it looked around the pool area. All personal preference! There are a ton of options.
Who are you getting estimates from?! When you build a hot tub into a pool, it should NOT add that much. Your pool looks pretty simple, addition of a hot tub at the time of building the pool should have brought you from $50K to around $70K, not $100K.
At the time of building the pool it would have been VERY affordable. We didn’t, however, and adding one on now is much more costly unfortunately. They have to account for any damage potentially done to the current pool, as well, so it can be very expensive
Man we just sold our home to downsize and make life simpler. We just got a quote, and the cost of a new pool went up over $20,000! And our pool is smaller. We are considering removing the hot tub 😢
Once a month should be plenty for the cleaning. Adding chemicals or salt all depends on what the water needs to be balanced, so get that tested once a month, too!
Here in the Austin area, pool maintenance runs $ 250 or more. I am planning on putting in a automatic pool monitor so that I will know how much and when to put in chemicals.
Wow that’s a much bigger cost! Many companies here charge under $100 to come biweekly and clean & test the water. But something automatic sounds like a great idea
Color finish of your pool? Also pebble? Stonescape? Marquis? Etc. Thank you so much. It’s beautiful and need to chose our color so leaning into this color.
Hi Jimmy! It depends on the season but any time we see the water get close to edge of those waterline tiles, we add some! During the summer rainy season, it's less. Right now probably every 3 weeks or so.
Trust me when I am ready to get out on New Jersey, which will be in the near furture, you guys have gave us so much info, on Lakewood Ranch, you guys are definitely going to be are realtors, I would feel like I was cheating on my wife, because you guys have really been kind with the info, we really appreciate your videos. we were not sure about a lot of things, you guys gave us a great education. Thank You.
I sold my new electric pool heater and got instead a solar water heater for the pool only. works divine 💗. temp goes up to 90+F. also has a sensor/thermostat to control temp. For the winter season in Florida you can cover at night with a pool solar blanket to prevent water get cold. Is a low watts usage by the way.
Personally I would not do a pool without one, but I am not a fan of critters, so the screen is a must for me. If you have an amazing view the openness is nice, but be prepared for all sorts of things to get in there! lol
