The most disgusting fact that comes to mind when bad smells are involved like poop or rotten smell or gutter smell is that if you smell it you’re actually tasting it, fine particles of whatever is smelling bad got to your respiratory system, aka entered your body and there’s nothing you can so about it which is nasty to consider. Odors involves taste buds. If you smell poop in a public setting or even a lab it’s too late it’s already inside of you. You tasted it.

Try holding your nose while eating a familiar food-it will taste much more dull! As for the smell of feces, the odor you perceive is not the result of fecal particles entering your nose, but of particular volatile compounds like skatole and indole to which your nose is highly sensitive. (Interestingly, skatole has a floral odor at very low concentrations, contributing to the smell of jasmine.) Different bad stimuli, ranging from waste to rotting meat to spoiled milk to death, have different odors.

Bilirubin is made from recycled hemoglobin from dead red blood cells and metabolized by bacteria into stercobilin. So, yes it does.

They are now, taking a small poop sample from a very healthy person (for example, a vegan who eats nothing but raw vegetables) it can give your gut microbiome quite a boost in diversity, which in turn improves your immune system and spawns the growth of healthy microbes in your gut too.

It's an accepted therapy in cases of C. diff (_Clostridioides difficile_) infection, which often results when antibiotic therapy for other conditions decimates the healthy gut flora. The primary genus of bacteria that keeps C. diff under control in healthy people is _Bacteroides_, and fecal transplants are used to transfer _Bacteroides_ and other healthy bacteria back to a C. diff patient's colon, restoring the healthy balance.

I'd love to see you test a Brita filter after a couple of months of use with tap water (from a well-developed area, like a city) to see just how much bacteria/viruses and other crap (hopefully not poop) builds up, and perhaps whether or not any of it is harmful, maybe even testing for chemicals/metals if you could do some chemistry as well. Typically, such companies rely on recommendations and word-of-mouth of customers and hardly show any actual evidence for their claims, so it would be interesting to actually see what's going on and if any of it's worth considering for potentially life-long purchases/rejection of such products. Anyway, just an idea. Love the vids, as always.

It is my opinion that the gut microbiome is a distinct and demonstrable organ all by itself. The blood is considered a debatable organ, and the microbiome will fit in right alongside the blood. Not really a solid and visually heterogenous tissue structure, but the biome comprises multiple species and classifications of microbes that produce nutrients and actually affect our bodily function and physical presentation. Stool transplants have led to obese recipients losing weight (Xu et. al., 2021). The human body would quite possibly die if it had a completely sterile lower GI tract. This would be a unique class of organ however, since it is not "self" at all. Just as we can transplant a heart into a patient with a failing self heart, we can transplant healthy microbiota into a patient with poor original microbiota that is causing unfavorable physiology.
