Ben just had my 1st experience on my homegrown fruits...all i can say is WOW!!! Life will never be the same. Thank you for everything dude...you are The Man!! hands down.
I was really nervous to start mycology. I can't remember who recommended your first broke Boi Tek video but it pushed me over the edge, today I got my Reishi LC and the notification for this video was a lovely reminder for the journey that YOU gave me the confidence to embark on. You're a legend mate, cheers from down under.
I’ve been growing for years, and when you posted them i started following your directions bcuz my rice was too wet all the time. SO THANK YOU 😊😊 I’m starting to grow again after not growing for 2 years 😮😮😮
Just want to say thanks dude. This tek a lot easier than all the other videos floating out there. I successfully inoculated 5 jars and all colonized beautifully. Working on the next batch as we speak. Came back to this vid for reference lol
I did it with success and this motivate me for doing much more thanks so much! Others were no so good because i waited for the rice to dry for many hours. Now watching this video I see that what I did differently and will return to wait 5 minutes after drying the grain Cheers bro! Much luv and gratitute I raised a mushroom growing tent in my yard my friends thought I am growing pot LOL
Easiee way, a cup of rice and 1-1/2 cup of water per jar. Then PC for 60 to 90 minutes streight away. The rice cooks as the cooker reaches pressure. . Let cool till morning. Its OK to can some other stuff that needs a long cook time like meats or stew while doing myco jars as well. ❤
@SixFootBen That rice I said was brown in an earlier video has colonized like 75%! Nice! I'm going to keep it simple from now on. And in my honest opinion Uncle Bens is def too wet and salty. I would not recommend it over this tek. Thanks for the "kiss" (keep it super simple) tek my man. Looking forward to more vids brother.
Thank you for this video man. Every video i watch says let it simmer for 10 mins at the minimum it seems and damn near everytime my grain is too wet and is clumpy out of the pressure cooker. You got great reviews in your comments, so imma give this a shot. 👍🏽
Appreciate you bro. Imma put some grain to it tonight 💪🏾. I let the grains dry like 15 mins instead of 5 mins in the strainer before I put it in the jars because I got busy with something else. Does the time frame or how much the grain dry effect how they come out?
@@sonnybrasco9735 please do. Its amazing how many people ive taught without fail. I should have charged for lessons. I think i might start doing live classes one day. But with my tek if you fail i know it wasnt me. Just make sure you are as clean as possible. But again. Yes keep me posted i love hearing i got somone growing. Its very theraputic to grow. I grow anything i can. I plant the root of onions tge heads off pineapple and in the summer ill buy a batch of cherry tomatoes and squirt them around and they go crazy! I found a guy who sells peyote bulbs and think i might get some just to see how big i can get them. Gardening is an amazing skill and if shit hits the fan now you know how to grow mushrooms. Always hated them as a kid but i grew a bunch of oyster mushrooms and if seasoned right its like meat. Good luck my man and enjoy.
So I made up the modified lids yesterday. Gonna make up the rice , sterilize and inoculate today. Gonna do a few Uncle Bens too and compare the growth rate/contam issues ect. Wish me luck Bro!
The most important part is your boil time. Make sure the water is boiling b4 you put the rice in. Boil for 4 minutes and then into the strainer.then just shake the excess water off the rice and load it in the jars.
@@sixfootben4892 Gonna do it exactly as you show on the video. Had to delay the jars til today cause the silicone hadnt cured yet. Ill keep u updated. ;)
Im fruiting the the UB90 Tek now. I've been looking around for a whole brown rice recipe that I like. I think you get the gold medal on this one. I just got some fire LC in the mail today¡
Just make sure you follow my boil time. 4 minutes is the sweet spot. Make sure the water is at a full boil b4 you add the rice. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.
Hey Ben hope you're having a good day peace and namaste... I have a question do you actually let the rice boil for 4 minutes or do you pour the rice into the boiling water and let the water do it's trick? Or do you actually let the rice come to a boil again with the water and then start timing? the rice is going to cool the water considerably and it takes my little Ricky dink Walmart hot plate another 10 or 15 minutes even to get it back up to boiling. Should I just give it the time in the near boiling water and then take it out or should I wait until it comes back to boiling again that's my question? Maybe it's a silly question but I know the smallest things make the biggest differences Thanks bro I've been wondering about how to use brown rice not BRF for a long time.
Man you're the king of the broke boi tek. Might try the smaller jars like you did my next run. Been using quart jars. How long does it take for the smaller ones to fully colonize?
Hey Ben. I'm giving this a try right now but how did you come up with the 4 min. boil time for the rice? It seems pretty fast and my rice doesn't seem to have expanded very much even after the pressure cook.
Hey Ben. Great video. I got a question . Im gonna use left over jam jar and modify the lids (like your other video) and use clear silicone . Are you sterilizing the jar with this modified lid on and then just adding the micropore tape after its cooled down??
The tape and silicone will be fine through the sterilization. In fact I reuse my lids over and over without replacing the tape. It's very strong stuff.
Will medical tape work instead of micro pore tape 🙀 I’ve been growing for years, and using paper tape, and doubling it up, and inoculating thru that. And obviously put more tape after the inoculation. I used to use RTV, but I lost it and the lids I made. Should I make new RTV lids, keep doing the paper medical tape, or just open the lid to inoculate ?!
For my inoculations I make one hole and use silicone and inject through that. As far as the tape goes as long as it's able to keep stuff out and let gas escape it's fine. You just want to make sure nothing can get in and gas can come out
@@sixfootben4892 thank you for replying. I LOST MY RTV TUBE 😵 and I’m too cheap to get a new tube. I’ve just been doubling my tape, and keeping my tin foil “hats” on the jars while colonizing. I’m doing B+ and A.P.E. mostly.
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I’m just not 100% sure…. When the jars get covers back I’m using the makeshift lid from the last video right ?
Hey my dood! I'm a new sub. I just started my first grain bags from a kit a few days ago.im super excited to try this method out. I wast just curious about the silicone thing. Do you have to allow you syringe needle to cool after heating it up before pokin through that silicone? My thought would be a melted silicone mess. Lemme know thanks
I usually wipe my needle with alcohol b4 I inject it to cool the needle down. I forgot to do it in this video. But it really doesn't matter. It won't cause you any problems. But just have a cotton ball or tissue soaked in alcohol and after you heat the needle wipe it real quick to cool it. The hot needle could also kill spores. Good luck
@@jasonbidelman3395 no. The silicone will close back up after you pull the needle out. Just make sure you wipe the silicone off with alcohol b4 you inject it. Just heat your needle and wipe it off like I said and push it through the silicone.
Yes. Bring to boil b4 you add rice. After you add rice let it return to a boil for about 4 minutes. Make your jars are dry first too and water it the bottom will make ot climb
No man. Get a pot to a rolling boil. Pour the rice in and let it return to a boil. Boil for 4 minutes. Then pour the rice in a strainer and give it a good shaking to get any mass amounts of water out. Don't let it dry for anymore than 5 minutes. I load my jars almost immediately after I pour it into the strainer. Then just load it into your jars leaving a few inches at the top. While you are sterilizing it in the steam or PC the rice will soak up the extra water. After it's done steaming for 90 minutes or PC for 90 minutes the rice will shake very freely in the jars. Some people think it looks to dry. It's not! You will notice the rice shakes freely but a few grains will stick to the side of the jar. So again boil water and drop in rice for 4 minutes. Then strain well and load into jars.
I usually mix my jars with coir and verm put it in a tin baking pan. One layer of substrate and a layer of spawn like a lasagna. Then I cover the tray with foil and wait a week or 2. Then I put the tray in a tub to fruit. I don't put holes in my tub I just fan once a day.
@@sixfootben4892 do at the bottom of the tub when fruiting? I've heard of people doing a layer of perlite and alayer of foil followed by the substrate and spawn ? Any thoughts on thst ?
@@jamescain1846 I don't use perlite. I just use a tin baking tray. A layer of sub and a layer of spawn tapped with another layer of substrate. Then cover with foil and put it in the closet for a week or two. Then put that tray in a tub and pull off the foil
Does some pieces of your rice turn black I inoculated mine 5 days ago and I noticed some of the rice pieces are turning black is that normal and also I stored my jars in a plastic bin with a lid is that ok
Black isn't good. If it's just a burnt piece of rice it's fine. But if it spreads it's probably black mold. Im not sure what you mean by the lids. After you boil the rice you strain out the extra water and load it into the jars. Then steam bath them or pressure cook the jars for 90 minutes.
Cool man right on just a couple pieces of rice looks black I didn't use instant rice so I'm not sure why they turn black idk I'm just going to wait it out
@@seana9167 if it's bad it gets bad quick! So if it's just a little black spot that's probably all it is. A little black ⚫. Rice is very easy to grow in. Unless you really fuck up the injection you should be good. And if something goes wrong I'll walk you through your next time. I'll make sure you grow some funguy
It all depends on your stove. I usually back mine down a bit. Just make sure to keep an eye on the water so it doesn't all evaporate and burn up your stuff
