When foden played on the left for "pep's super team" he wasn't even a starter and people were clowning on him for being a bench player. Don't rewrite history. Foden is playing in his worse attacking position and at the same time not being trusted with the ball to feet. The RW or even False 9 would suit him better than LW.
Julian Nagelsmann took charge of Germany in September 2023. Less than a year in charge and only 10 games in and look at how they're playing. A clear way of playing and clear identity. Do they have flaws? Of course but it's absolutely clear what they're trying to do.
The manager has to be given credit not just in the result but like you said the way they are playing. England have always flattered to deceive. This has been happening since I can remember individually very good but as a team awful. England need a manager who will drop certain players if they don’t suit his system. Trent created more chances than any other player while he was on the pitch. The problem is that the team isn't set up well for him. Foden isn't a runner. Kane is too slow. Saka is the only target in the front three. Bellingham can makes runs sometimes but it's not enough. Southgate doesn't know what kind of team he wants. Trent can play alongside Rice, but it would mean dropping Kane for Watkins, or telling Kane to stay up and not drop deep, which he won't do. And it would mean dropping Foden for Gordon.
