American Shad, in this video we'll be trolling for Shad in the St. Johns River in Florida. We'll be fishing out of our Carolina Skiff trolling homemade Shad Darts. American Shad are hard fighters and a lot of fun to catch. On this trip we learned that on any given day your shad dart colors make a difference. After trolling for a couple of hours we caught several American Shad. When we got home we cleaned the Shad and cooked them the next day. What a great day, I love the fact that she wanted to stay out longer. Joyce also had the solution to ice them up and clean tomorrow. She was his biggest and best catch ever. Thank you both for the great video.

Another Great video, reminds me of Va where I grew up. When the dogwoods bloomed we would catch all the shad we needed, the sets of roe in them were a great bonus, Love watching y'all

Just for fun get a bag of those Kraft miniature marshmallows the rainbow colored ones. pop one in your mouth for about 5 seconds then out the marshmallow on your hook and throw it in and see if the fish hit it? It works for rainbow trout like a charm. Can't hurt to try something new. Love your videos Sam and Joyce. You're always having fun enjoying life. Good for you both!

If you bring along a heavy duty magnet you'll probably find 100's of lost lures & scrap metal to sell. I'm gonna convince a niece or nephew to buy a boat so I can go fishing with them. LOL I haven't fished in 40 years, but I love it. You've given me the fish/crab fever. I must have binge watched 20+ of your videos these few days.

As someone who also has some really old classic open face spinners it’s good to see your Penns still doing their thing! No infinite anti reverse, no 12 bearings, just quality design, materials and machining😊. Do those shad have roe or are they spawned out?

Some have roe. You're right you can't beat those old Z series penn reels the reels we were using are about 50 years old and I have older ones that still work perfect and they're easy to fix. Thanks for Watching our videos

They're American Shad not stink shad that are common. They have a history, George Washington was a Shad fisherman and Eisenhower served them in the White House, they're good if you cook them right. Thanks for Watching our videos

I didn't know you caught American Shad in Louisiana. These Shad are only here a couple of months they come all the way from Nova Scotia. They're not the stink shad that live in the river. America Shad go back to George Washington who was a commercial Shad fisherman.

Are the Shad living in the river or migrating in or out? You need a house boat as hard as it is getting Joyce to go in when the fish are biting.

They're migrating from Nova Scotia down to the St Johns River in Florida. They're a saltwater fish not the stink shad that lives in the river. Thanks for Watching our videos.
