Something that still stands out to me is when I was 7 years old, I was fishing a dock all day long (probably close to 6 hrs in total) and got skunked. The older gentleman next to me had reeled in multiple 24” pike. I asked him what he was using and he said he had a five of diamonds. After looking through my dad’s tackle box which I had brought with me, I found nothing. I asked the man what else I should use and he cut his five of diamonds off and gave it to me. 7 year old me caught a 22” pike second cast. I still have the spoon; I am 26 today. Won’t ever fish with it again. Keeping it to remind myself to always help others. Maybe one day I can cut it off my rig and hand it down to a little man just like I was.

I started sport-fishing two years ago, with zero experience, whatsoever! I got on a boat that takes veterans out and my passion exploded! In two years I’ve made tons of reel (like that) friends, who’ve turned into life time brothers and the best part is they’ve all taken me under their wings! Not only have a got some pretty bad ass free gear, this year I start my new job as a deck hand on a veteran charter guide boat. Talk about manifesting your destiny and dreams. Tomorrow I leave for two weeks to fish Detroit Lake for Kokanee and the following week we are in Newport Oregon to fish for Herring in The Yaquina Bay. All bait fish for the big dogs out in the deep blue sea. Tight Lines and Good Tides!

Here's something for those catching or fishing for trout. DO NOT UNDER ANY CONDITION use a cloth rag, or a cloth shirt, or a cloth net to hold or catch it (no fabrics) . Anything besides your hand will rub off the oils coating the trouts scales which make the trout less immune to disease and other illnesses, meaning when you'd release it- it would most likely die.

If you're not catching anything look around on the bank underneath of logs and rocks for natural bait because that's what the fish are used to eating. Use a hook with no weight and strip out as much line as you can and then throw it into the water and let it sink naturally and watch your line straighten out... Then you set the hook

There is a video here on RU-vid they tagged and tracked bass in this tournament lake and tagged hundreds of 2-9 lb bass by electroshocking the water and crazzy thing is alot of the big bass would hang out with no structure or anything just the flats around a single stump or some fish will stay in shallows only and your lure actually scares 30-80 percent of the bass away loon it up everything we thought we knew about bass is wrong according to this crazzy study. And the first tip don't go spend hundreds of dollars on lures just get you a simple small spinner bait in a few colors yellow white red and then get one or two with different color spoons get the small strike king ones and just throw them garunteed to catch a bass anywhere as long as you cover water bank fishing and don't cast in same spot i do 20 casts per spot and keep moving if I don't get a night or strike and I have caught some trophy tournament bass just doing that off the bank in small neighborhood ponds personal best in my neighborhood pond behind my house is 8.7 lbs and I been fishing it every weekend for a year and have caught a bunch of bass o was told the hoa released 16,000 bass in it 7 years ago and this pond is massive so big it's basically a lake and they have bass tournaments in it twice a year for residents only and no kayaks just Bank fishing only so the further you can cast the better off you are in this pond o have used balloons to get my lure way out to cover tons of water and works every time

Extension to Tip 2. Water currents and wind. Especially on ponds and lakes. The wind will create a current in the water. This will make bait fish follow or be pushed with the current. Bigger fish will follow. So if you see a current. Fish on the end its going too. Fish will also take shelter from the current in calm spots. So fish them also. You'll be surprised on how much more fish you'll get
