What is The Pirates of Penzance (1983) about?
Frederic (Rex Smith), who has spent his formative years as a junior pirate, plans to mark his 21st birthday by breaking free from the Pirate King (Kevin Kline) and beginning his courtship of Mabel (Linda Ronstadt). But because he was born on Feb. 29, a date that only arrives every fourth year, Frederic isn't technically 21 -- and the Pirate King is still his master. Unless something gives, Frederic will soon be on a collision course with the Pirate King's new nemesis: Mabel's father.

The amazing Linda Ronstadt could (and did) sing any genre and not only crush it, but also make it look effortless!

I was lucky enough to see this in Central Park when it first came to be. My dad was NYPD and loved to sing. The chorus behind the scenes would grab him and he would sing with them. One day he took my sister and I to see it. He grabbed Rex Smith and said" hey Rex come meet my daughters "and we all took a picture. I also saw Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt walk in together. What great memories!

Linda Ronstadt really had a diverse range of vocal talent. She can do rock music, songs for children's movies AND Opera. This performance proves it.

She's not at all well now, she an't sing and suffers dementia. Tragic, thank you Linda for such memories

In 2019 a new diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy was announced, however no one and nowhere is there evidence she is suffering from dementia.

I don't know where you got that she's suffering dementia. She has a Parkinson's-like disease, but she's still sharp as a tack and her humor is still very much there.
