When people make the typical “Fyre Fest” comparisons, it almost feels like a mixture of FOMO and straight up Schadenfreude (finding joy in the misery of others). 😰

Playing full albums for the concept is AMAZING! Am I the only one? That's way cooler than "Just hits"

WWWY is probably gonna become a generational festival. Bands that are hot currently in 15 years are gonna be looked at the same way FOB, MCR, BMTH, Blink are now. Every generation becomes nostalgic for the one before it or the one they feel they feel they “missed out on”

WWWY 2023 was a really great experience. The lineup was great, and the venue was laid out really well.

I went to WWWY this year and they had 4 stages with lots of overlap. It was very difficult to see everyone we wanted to see. I imagine having all the bands play their whole album is going to make that overlap so much worse. It's unfortunate.

Between numetal and pop punk will we ever truly get old? And will Finn ever run out of content? I feel like we're missing a hardcore festival headed by henry rollins next.

I feel like if they are going to make 50 bands play on a single day, they should at least have to publish a tentative schedule so people can see which bands they want to see will be in competing time slots.

Eisley’s lead singer is married to Max Bemis of Say Anything so it would be advantageous to book them. And yes, I would see Eisley, they were my fave band in 2004.

They need to do this like Rockfest in Wisconsin. A couple of days, a pile of good bands and it's always been accessible for whatever budget you have. I went ages ago and it was so much fun and it's still going solid.

Went to this years wwwy and it was easily the best ran festival ive ever been to. Every single band started on time. It was super impressive.

The concept as a whole is pretty cool. The issue is that each band will need a MINIMUM of 30 minutes to be able to complete the full album play through. It is pretty normal for multiple bands to be playing at the same time. Its not a new thing to have to pick and choose who to see. For example, seeing ADTR do Homesick is top priority as it is one of my favorite albums of all time. The whole concept of maybe missing bands is something you are just going to have to deal with. My guess is that the main headliners (MCR, Fall out Boy, and ADTR) will likely play more than just that album.

I'd wager that most of the potential festival folks already have these albums at home. Just have a house party.

I'll say only about 30% of the crowd seemed to be excited for 100 Gecs. Throughout the whole day everyone cheered every artist until they came on, completely sucked the energy out of the place after Knocked Loose

I'm 43 which kinda puts me in no mans land as far as if I'm gen X or a millennial. I went to this WWWY last month and as a dude who went to all the warped tours back in the day I was expecting the same kind of set up, both the good and the bad. And I have to say the way this festival was put together was absolutely awesome. For the amount of people that were there at gate open it went really smoothly. As you walked in they immediately handed you a few bottles of water and then had free hydration stations throughout the grounds. The orientations of the stages made it fairly easy to bounce back and forth. And yes, I did have to pick and chose which bands I wanted to see but honestly I didn't care that much. Sure the tickets were expensive but it was an awesome vacation weekend for my wife and I. As for everyone complaining about diversity both in regards to gender or race I guess you can't please everyone. This is a representation of the scene back then and this is what it was. It's like going to a hip hop festival and complaining about the lack of white rappers.

My thought: $350 to have the opportunity to see every band i’ve ever loved at one time is worth it even if i don’t get to see the entire set for every single band. MCR tickets for one show were ⅓ of that for ONE band. This is worth it imo for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would never go again but they’re targeting those of us who consider this a bucket list item, not those of us who have seen these bands hundreds of times already

I went to WWWY this year and it was by far the best music festival I've ever gone to. Not just because of the member berries from my glory days (I'm 42), but because of how well it was put on. There were plenty of food and drink vendors - I never waited in line more than a couple minutes. Tons of free water stations (much needed on a sunny day in the desert). Even the bathroom lines weren't bad. Considering the insane number of people there, I don't think it could've been put on much better. I saw merch lines were insanely long, but I'm not a big merch guy so that didn't really impact me - so there's the one criticism. Otherwise, it was amazing and I look forward to the next one.

Remember the ballerina from the Helena video? That song isn't on Black Parade but we threw some ballerina slippers on the flyer anyway because member!?!

I’m a big fan of the old album concept because I was a literal child when a lot of these came out and couldn’t see them live. That Used album literally played on Radio Disney lol.

i would love to go to this festival, but the ticket prices are outlandish for a lot of people including myself. the tickets are literally like, half of my rent before travel (if sick new world is anything to go off of). it’s kinda disappointing and comes off leaving me feel like these bands i’ve loved aren’t in it for what they should be (don’t get me wrong, get the bag) and just play it for 💴

I heard that FOB just hadn’t decided which album yet - which honestly seems even stranger than just deciding not to do it, like they’re headlining

I did not attend the first 2 years, but i jumped on booking a hotel when i saw this. Some of my favorite albums from these bands and i love the nostalgia. In my mid 30s and i saw these album cycles when they first happened and i still listen to them. Not gonna complain about prices because if you piece out all the tours that could happen, you’d be spending alot anyway.

I was there this year and thought it was ran pretty good! Plenty of water stations, lots of food and drink stalls, always found place to sit if needed, and stages rotate at two of the 4 so it was nonstop. Overlap wasn't really an issue for the bands I was into but sets were pretty short and there was a ton of people at the Saturday show. Had a great time all in all! Next year will sell out and be extended another day, as always.

I wish it was the used-the used, my chemical romance- 3 cheers for sweet revenge and Coheed & Cambria - In keeping secrets of silent earth 3. The 3 band I would be most excited to see.

It should be a two day event from the start if you're going to have this many bands on 4 stages. Instead they sell a single day twice and make way more money. I was there last month and it was so crowded that I couldn't get within 200 yards of Blink

There are young people like me (25, 1st wave of GenZ) who love mid-early 00s emo/phc/metalcore. We'll make sure that WWWY last more than 10 years lol

The funny thing is that as of today Hey Monday has been added. One of my best friends is in the band and told me it all like transpired in a matter of three hours 😂

Does anyone else not care for shows where artists play records cover to cover? I get the appeal, but it feels very phoned in, a lot of the times the artist resents their old material because they’ve since grown as a person from the time they wrote it, and as an audience member, it completely takes away the anticipation of “what will they play next?” That makes the concert experience so memorable. I’ve seen Blink play Enema Cover to Cover, The Wonder Years with the Greatest Generation, and Springsteen play the River, and all fantastic shows, but the lack of Spontaneity and speculating the next song as the guitars/bass play open chord progressions kind of water down the experience in my opinion

Wild coincidence that since this video was made Hey Monday have now been announced to play the festival. There’s also several other bands been announced that predominantly feature female members.

Pink and green stage are next to each other and are for the headliners. It’s a really good way of bringing in the next act without having to take a break for setups

I remember some people who went to Sick New World (which had a similar layout I think) saying that there was some audio bleed and other problems at the smaller stages. Hopefully that's all sorted out.

This ticket price is stupid. I would never pay this much. Living in Australia, I've been fortunate enough to see some of these album playthroughs back in the day e.g. MCR Black Parade, underoath playthroughs etc.

Hey Finn, great vid as always. And it will be interesting to see how they manage all those bands in 1 day. I went to the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey in 2007 and they had like 7 stages (3 sections with side by sides and one stand alone). Even with driving from Toronto Ontario to East Rutherford, getting a hotel and food, etc however it wasn't even CLOSE to $1000...maybe $400 tops. Something I noticed as the video ended and the "back" album cover was blown up is that on the left hand side the very last artist listed is L.S. Dunes who doesn't have an album listed next to them and I'd never heard of. So I did a quick search and they're a super group combining Saosin/Circa Survive front man, MCR guitarist, Coheed guitarist, and Thursday bassist & drummer. They've only been together since 2022 and had their first tour in 2023. It'll be interesting to see if they play their own new stuff from their only album or if they pull out the hits from their collective bands.

There is a type of stage where it rotates. On one side, a band plays, and on the other, the band sets up. KROQ did this kind of thing with their festivals.

Finn, speaking of KennyHoopla you put me on to him in 2021 and Ive been a fan ever since. Saw him live 3 times now and each time its the best most energetic show Ive ever seen! Thanks man!

I went to WWWY in 2022. I did have to make tough choices and miss some acts i wanted to see but I don't think that's a bad thing every act is saw was great. I still saw 10 hours worth of music which felt like enough. Me and my girlfriend did the whole trip spending just under $1500 combined including concert tickets and air fair. We didnt drink, gamble, or buy merch. We stayed off the strip only eating out a couple times. Vegas has good grocery stores and public transit.

2023 was absolutely incredible

Hopefully some of these bands will tour on the albums they’re playing since they’re gonna have to get together and rehearse them anyway. Would much rather pay a reasonable price to see STD play Stay What You Are in a nearby city instead of paying $1000 to fly out to a one day fest.

If yall were in Florida in 2020 or 2021, I remember this festival called REBLE ROCK and it got cancelled twice. 2020 it got cancelled because of covid, obviously. And in 2021 it got cancelled because, supposedly the festival grounds got to wet or muddy and they cancelled the whole thing.

I’ve been saying when Warped Tour would come you could sacrifice easier because most of the bands you had a chance to see through their own tour. With this it would be really hard to pay that much to miss certain sets because a lot of it is once in a lifetime moments and bands that you won’t see touring every year.

I saw UnderOath perform in Oshkosh, WI at a festival. It was a rock festival, and the weather was bad. There was literally no one in the whole vip area. Spencer spent the whole shortened set because of the weather, complaining about the vip area.

I need Ozzfest and/or Mayhem Fest to come back! That was high school for me!

I wish they would bring Warped back or make something similar. The fact that you paid $50 to see a bunch of bands and could meet them was a steal. We always saw all the bands we wanted even if we had to leave one set a little early. I always made a point to meet one band i liked and get an autograph or photo or both. So many fun memories. Plus the fact that it was accessible for most people since they went around the country. I'm not traveling all the way to Vegas, having to fight for time off for travel, spend hundreds on food and stay etc just to maybe see half the bands I wanna see. Not worth it.

It went up since this year I believe because we paid $250 for the GA tickets which wasn’t too bad but I’d rather see some of these bands touring the 10-15 year album

The last 2 years were both originally announced as 1 day, and then they "added an extra day" afterwards. I'd be surprised if the same strategy isn't applied here.

My friends and I do Riot Fest in Chicago almost every year, which we really enjoy. It is a three day fest and has some overlap, but not much. My friends last year asked me if I want to do WWWY instead. While the lineup was amazing, it falls on my son’s birthday weekend. I didn’t go. While 60 bands were listed, they only saw 8 bands because of the constant overlap. I enjoy the 2nd and 3rd tier bands, but I can see them for a few bucks.

I agree with you on the VIP stuff. I have never done VIP for any festival or show. The fun is to be in the large mix of the crowd. The energy level is better and it just seems like a waste of money unless you are looking to drink and add pics to your IG.

One of the most interesting things about the bands this year is the apparent Chiodos reunion. They haven't toured in about 10 years.

This sort of reminds me of the last WrestleMania that was only one day. It was like 8 hours long and even that turned the show into a bit of a sit. This should really be at least 2 days

One thing to add regarding the "nostalgia bashing": Cashing in on nostalgia (by, say, planning a festival, or a themed cruise) is objectively morally superior to cashing in on the cynicism and resentment (by, say, podcasting or vlogging, or even just shitting on something for clicks or likes and the dopamine rush that follows) of that nostalgia.

But I can say I know a lot of people were disappointed with the VIP area because they were in one spot where they can see the stage from the big screen but they need to make a better line when you have to check in because everyone was confused where to go

Look, I understand the desire to shit on this festival but ive been the last 2 years and theres no way I will miss it. It is an epic day of fun and great vibes. Sure its crowded and you cant see every single band you want to see but its worth every penny.

Too much info on one flyer. The distillers doing a full album is cool but they only really had 3 of them. It’s a 1/3 of all their songs.

LOL. In the 90's I went to countless weekend-long fests where i saw 50 bands play on one stage (so you didn't have to pick and choose which bands you got to see) for like $25. This shit is absurd. But at least the organizers are honest with themselves and the proposed customers, as you don't see them even pretend this has anything to do with DIY culture.

Fyre Fest was one thing, but then there was Blue Ridge 2023. I went to WWWY the last two years and it's been great. No reason at all this can't happen.
