I was not ready for this one guys! Hope you like it! My first Architects reaction video (part 1): • Pop Singer Reacts to A... Don't forget to subscribe, like this video and leave a comment! Lots of love, Jami
Thank you for checking out my video! Architects are my all time favourite band and the passing of Tom hit me really, really hard. After hearing the heartbreaking news of Tom's passing, I immediately realized the lyrics and subjects he and the band were introducing in this album. It came so out of the blue. I immediately understood what Memento Mori really was about. It was all there. I made this video in 2 days, constantly tearing up, dearly remembering and reminiscing about one of my musical idols. I am so glad to see it has the same impact for people it has for me. The song is perfect. It's monumental. It's a legacy. Tom went all out on this, and it wouldn't ever have been better than this. He went out in a blaze of glory. Always remembering, T//S FOREVER
Didn't plan on crying today but here we are. I've listened to Gone With The Wind more times than I can count and it still hits me every time. The live recording is also immensely emotional.
Architects is the band where also the toughest men are going to cry. Its my absolute favorite band. They sound incredible and their lyrics are just so emotional....Because of them its a good time to be alive for me! I will see them live in february here in berlin, germany.....Im so hyped because the tour got delayed due to covid....And now they will perform with northlane and sleep token....this concert is gonna be an absolute banger
The speech in Memento Mori is by a philosopher called Alan Watts. It's about taking the fear out of death and accepting what will be, will be. I've followed Architects for many years and when the news broke of Tom's death it shook the metalcore and wider metal scene massively, as it was thought his cancer had gone. He was truly an innovator of the genre and his influence is still heard today.
Also, you should check out From The Wilderness. It's one of their more politically driven songs and discusses how the human race have ruined the Earth, and how governments and other organisations always talk about what we need to do to save the planet before it's too late without actually doing anything themselves.
@@randalbrown7761 I'd agree that what they're put out since Tom's death hasn't been on the same level (although I thought Holy Hell was a great album), but I'd have to disagree with you when saying no one else has reached that same level.
Momento Mori. This song got me sober. If Decay is the only Law... If Death is the only promise I CANNOT break... Was my life worth dying for? I was determined to make my answer, "Yes."
I'm a bit late on this, but I been listening to them for years. Always liked their music, and their nihilistic side of lyrics. At one point the band started acting weird toward each other/drama. I was annoyed because they were my favorite band, and seemed like cool dudes, especially in person, but started assuming they act differently with each other/fake in person. Then the songs came out and it was awesome, and I was glad they were getting along again. Then sadly, Toms death came. I never expected it. Then we learn the real story behind everything, including the lyrics Tom wrote. He was battling cancer, his demise inevitable, and his friends/family wanted him to stay in the hospital/get help etc (understandably so) but Tom did not want to acknowledge cancer. He wanted to tour and live his life, give cancer the middle finger, which of course caused arguments between all of them wanting the best for him, it's a hard thing for all of them. It's so fucking sad, because you realize the songs are a metaphor for his views on things, experiences, wonders, and accepting his eventual death. We see him change his views on religion, or at least change it, asking if he will see god when he dies, the regrets he has, hope is a prison etc. The two saddest fucking things I ever heard come from Tom lyrically is "Will I see god" (talking about when he passes ofc) and when Sam (the vocalist) screams the lyrics Swan Song, knowing this may very well be his final words ever in a song when written. Even Sam broke down live singing "gone with the wind", and fell to his knees, so the crowd started singing the lyrics and it cheered him up and he got up and continued the song with the crowd. Fucking beautiful band and people, may Tom RIP.
@@joshuarinaberger7689 He was diagnosed with it in 2013, but overcame it when they removed pat of his lower leg, but it was most likely going to return. When it did return, he got treatment, etc for it the best he could, but it was more of an inevitable thing/false hope, and Tom knew that and wanted to just tour and live his life. Rather than sit in the hospital and eventually pass anyways most likely. So while sick he kept doing these things, but they wanted him to stay in the hospital, get more treatment etc. Also it reminds me one of the lines "My friend, hope is a prison". And yeah I know what you mean man, I hope so too.
both songs spoke are suuuper sad, Tom basically talking about his Journey with cancer and his coming to terms with his impending death, his contribution as a musician, I bought the all our gods have abandoned us in 2016 , its sonically moving, both compositionally/production and lyrically driven, he has inspired me to push to be a composer and someone who expresses ones self through art, Tom Searle is a legend and will always be a legend for future musicians in any genre to look up to .
I also recommend you to watch the documentary "Holy Ghost"; that's something that goes beyond music itself, it talks about life through what Tom's experience had been. Everyone's who knows Architects' story has to watch it.
Imo they are still amazing ESPECIALLY FTTWTE live at Abbey Road. That is probably my third most favorite album from them. But I do have to agree that I definitely do miss old Architects. I liked FTTWTE a lot more once I figured out that it's a direct sequel to Holy Hell in terms of overall meaning especially with the song Dying Is Absolutely Safe.
“The see will part where oceans meet, finally complete”. In death is not defeat, Sam refers to that quote saying “ now you’re finally complete, I will see you where oceans meet”. Literal chills
Hey, amazing video. Didn't plan to tear up at work, but those two songs are masterpice. Love that you are natural and don't exaggerate reaction for the views. Keep goin strong :). I highly recomend this one band and few other music :D Sleep Token - Alkaline, The Love You Want, Blood Sport (from the room below) Polaris - MASOCHIST Northlane - Bloodline
The band was going to break up but kept going in memory for their brother Tom. Should definitely react to hereafter. That song was them coming back after taking time from making music. Should definitely check out the live version of gone with the wind it’s very emotional :( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-17zuQFvErrY.html
I would definitely recommend Mortal After All and Death Is Not Defeat. Though they were with their new guitarist, they still hit home just as much as these songs do.
How lucky are we that we get to see through the eyes of a dying man, nobody knows what is important like someone at the end, there is an inherent respect we owe them.
if you are down to do a "trilogy" of Architects i recommend a future video with Doomsday, Hereafter and Death Is Not My Enemy. Those 3 songs is the band dealing with the loss and moving forward, a lot of emotions i remember when Tom passed, felt like a brother or someone really really close was gone forever, to this day i still feel the same emotions listening to these songs, is just hugely heart breaking. Ps: english is not my native language so if the text above feels weird be aware that i'm trying my best without using any translation service :)
The Memento Mori spoken sections were from an Alan Watts speech. I first saw Architects supporting a band I saw probably 20 years or more ago now and they've always held a special place in my heart.
Very late to this reaction but glad ya enjoyed the tracks with the nature of their content. Hope the recommendation for the TSArtwork vid helped take it in with the lyrics being right there with us and yourself along for the ride. Cheers!
I think he still deeply questioned the existence of God... But for sure thought, if He did exist... That He _"had abandoned us",_ aaaaaannnd... that, _"He doesn't fucking love us."_
Memento Mori is beautiful. But Gone with the Wind is 100% Tom Searle's swan song. The grief, anger, helplessness, hopelessness... A man in fear of what lies beyond death, yet mad at God/losing his faith for not saving him. Heartbreaking.
Awesome just like always And please react to IMMINENCE their an awesome band and are emotional just like Architects some even say they're the new Architects
Please listen and react to Bishop Briggs - “High Water”. New single released this month dedicated to her sister who passed away in 2021. It’s very moving.
Assuming you only know from Holy Hell or FTTWTE forward: please do go backwards in their discography. Lost Forever // Lost Together and All Our Gods are beautifully written albums, modern metalcore masterpieces, literally revolutionized the scene.
I kinda liked the stuff on their album better, like Animals and Dead Butterflies. This song ain't too bad but it ain't that good either imho. Should do a reaction video for October Ends Playtime soon. Seen so many people requesting it
