Popa Chubby is underappreciated, by everyone that has never heard him. I grew up a catholic and there were many that would clutch a rosary in time of need. We all need Popa and I'm clutching these videos like that rosary.
Met the guy in person in Belgium and he is such a warm hearted fellow. A simple man and a true musician. He played my guitar, wrote a very nice note on it and we headed for the bar to grab some beer... Simple as that.
saw poppa 2 times and he is once and for all the best blues guitarist .... he has what joe bonamassa missed - the feeling the pressure and at the same time the passion .... it was always a pleasure listening to poppa .... no matter what he plays - just remembering his improvisation of "hey joe" ... which was like OMG! Thank you Poppa for one of the best moments of my musical life :) and to me it seems fender was just made for poppa! THANK YOU!
Damn I love this song. He puts everything he has into his performance, sincerity, such a clean guitar sound, and his very soul coming through. Thank you sir
Me too…. I’ll played it over and over with the blasted maximum volume from my head phone. Heard every stream of the string from his guitar. Loved it 😣🎶🎵🎶🎵
If you liked this song that much you have to watch his live performance of Nobody loves me like the way I love myself he's wearing T-shirt with the sleeves cut off of it my opinion of it is that it's a phenomenal performance and is actually what got me hooked on finding and listening to as much of his music as I possibly can
I can't believe I ain't heard of this talented beyond belief Mr. Popa. goddamn he plays ....so damn righteous. Love it. Your original riffs, and lead-ins are astounding, impressive and just joyful to the ear!
I happened to catch this on Pandora and not even five seconds of the song and I went on RU-vid looking for more of this guy this is a classic hard-working musician you can make the guitar talk haven't heard that since John Lee Hooker and Leslie West God Rest their souls the Popa Chubby if you reading this thank you man you're definitely one hell of a working musician!!!!!🙋♂️
after SRV, Popa Chubby is the only one you can immediately identify blinded, after 2 single notes out of his guitar. I can't think of anyone else today.
@@johanstaelens5194 For sure both of them technically are even more skilled than popa but but I can't hear the same personality in their playing. Personal opinion btw, I don't want to underestimate them.
Popa you are the best ... I have shared this song with my buddies ... they all love you too.....you have an amazing style .... SRV would have just loved you.
I adore Popa Chubby, saw him live in Barcelona, fantastic show and spoke to him after, thoroughly nice geezer too. The sheer talent and soul of the man is manifest in this video. And, yet, we listen to plastic music and plastic artists with no soul or talent. Why...?
Wow, tasteful bridled energy. When he turns it on it he is truly amazing. Creates anticipation and makes you want more and then delivers more. Very dynamic cat.. one of the best around since SRV. Geaux Popa!
Ohh 😯😯 yeah Popa Chubby definitely knows what old school blues is all about and how to play them it's almost like he was born with the blues inside of him just waiting for him to want to play you get the feeling he went to the school of BB 😘 King 👑 and Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy and then put his own twist on his version of old school blues and he can play guitar with the best of them and should be in everyone's library of blues artists and singers in the old school section which should be followed by the Southwestern Texas rockin blues of SRV, ZZTOP, and the winter brothers and the newer generation of white boys like Kenny Wayne shepherd joe bonamosa and others
And who knows how many others across the country who are trying to get noticed and if they're go and remember what version of the blues got them and stay true to their roots who knows who the next Bonamosa or Vaughn or Sheppard might be or where they're from which doesn't really matter if they're go and are able to make people want to go see them and spread the word about them
Well Bubba ifi I had to guess I'd say that you're probably from the South somewhere maybe 😏 in a nan area in or near an area known for its blues players black or white
WHY isn't this on one of his live albums?! The studio version on Spotify is so flat compared to this. I once saw Pops play to a small audience in Sheffield and despite the small crowd he gave it everything. Incredible musician 👍
