you do realize that people who don't believe in a god, don't really care of laws made by religion? what should we do, force people to "believe", which is impossible? so any remote belief, away from Christianism is condemned, even the pre-Colonized, the current Japanese, whomever that won't believe in our God? the worst thing a Christian can do is to endorse that old and misconceived mindset and attack other beliefs, specially people who are clearly being accepting of something of our religion as in Fiona's case. She is being openminded, we should embrace her and respect her belief. If there is a chance and willingness on her end, maybe invite her over and show her what this is about, even if she is not willing to convert... but with your hateful comment, you just ruined that chance.

Sola Scriptura is Protestantism's "Achilles' Heel." Merely invoking sola Scriptura is no solution to the problem of authority and certainty as long as multiple interpretations exist. If the Bible were so clear that all Protestants agreed simply by reading it with a willingness to accept and follow its teaching, this would be one thing, but since this isn't the case by a long shot (the multiplicity of denominations), sola Scriptura is a pipe-dream at best.
Christianity is unavoidably and intrinsically historical. All the events of Jesus' life (Incarnation, Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension, etc.) were historical, as was the preaching of the apostles. Tradition, therefore, of some sort, is unavoidable, contrary to numerous shortsighted Protestant claims that sola Scriptura annihilates Tradition. This is true both for matters great (ecclesiology, trinitarianism, justification) and small (church budgets, type of music, lengths of sermons, etc.).
As a protestant, I would like to give my best wishes to the Catholic Church and the new Pope Francis. I would also like to apologize for the behavior of some of my less sensitive brethren for their tactless remarks. I hope you wouldn't judge us all on the actions of a few. I hope we can all pray for greater Christian unity in these troubling times.

As for the numbers attending the Catholic Church - yes, they have been dropping in the West, but they have been going through the roof in Africa, Asia and South America. In fact, the Catholic Church has experienced its largest growth in its entire two thousand year history. So calls of its demise by atheists and other Catholic-haters, has been premature and wrong. When I was talking about plummeting attendance, I wasn't talking about attendance at the Catholic churches - I was talking about attendance at the United churches. Their attendance has been plummeting since they're doing what you feel the Catholic Church should do - to adapt to the way of people. But God's ways are not our ways. He did not mean for same sexed couples to marry. Now people are leaving the United Church in droves since they see no difference between their church and the world.

No, In both the Old and New Testament it is shown time and time again that God seems to have an almost human like personality such the story of "The Binding of Isaac" proves he has an ego by ordering Abraham to kill his son Isaac. What? How does cheering someone mean you worship them? When people cheer for a new President, does this mean they think he is God? No: it means they want to show him respect as leader of their country. Same thing here: this man is the leader of the Church on earth. He's a sinful human being like the rest of us, not superior or more loved by God, but every group needs a leader, and God has chosen him. We hope Francis will be a good leader, but he is still just a human being like the rest of us.
I am not catholic. Just intuition, I can usually tell a lot from faces and voices. I may be wrong. Sure, there is a lot of corruption in the Vatican, but that does not mean that every soul - member, priest, nun, bishop, cardinal or pope is corrupt in their essential spirit - only God can judge that. Send love and compassion to the pope and the church, that they may do a cleansing and return to true goodness.

I did a search and found that the Last Supper is based on the Jewish "Kiddush" ceremony in which the leader sanctifies a cup of wine and passes it around and also did a sanctifying and breaking of bread to be passed around. At no time do they mention the wine being the blood of anybody or the bread being the body. The Eucharist is a pagan corruption of the Kiddush. The 1st mention of a Euchaist type ritual was by Paul the Roman in the First Epistle to the Corinthians.

Keys = Papacy When Christ gave Peter the Keys to the Kingdom, He didn't pull that expression out of thin air. There is a long standing tradition in the Davidic Kingdom/Dynasty that Peter & the rest of the apostles would have understood immediately when Jesus brought it up. I was a catholic I actually read my Bible. As for praying to saints, stature and a figure af a supposed mother mary. It's wrong and i had to repent for it. the fact tha5t you can find them listed in forbes should be a clue. People read your Bibles and stopt listening to these. The All who believe and keep the word of God are saints. Mary and the apostles are waiting be raised too. Mary does not come to people. Bible says it is an immitating spirit. bible saysTest the spirits by the word. FAIL
If you knew anything about what they actually did (there's a ton, go read a book), then maybe you would get it, but, as you said, you don't know. And actually, go look up exorcisms. Catholics are kind of known for them. Priests get trained to do exorcisms in Rome. The church was built after Jesus, and just because our Sabbath is different doesn't mean we believe what the Romans do, but yes, we did get some tradition from them because of the culture. However, we are worshipping OUR God.
