Bluto's statement at the end, "They can't do that to the Navy was in response to the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. There was tremendous outrage felt in the country at the time. It should be realized what an effort that was made to reconcile with Japan and Germany after the war, and they are now our allies. But this came at great sacrifice in resources and lives. It was the hope after WWII that world political conflicts could be resolved in better ways. These films suggest this. But there is a faction that wants to bury these documentaries of history to keep the public ignorant. As Franklyn said, "Those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it." So where are we now?
1:47- Lifebuoy soap was famous for using a "foghorn" in their radio commericals at the time {"Beeeeeeeeeeee-Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........."}, signifying that Lifebuoy stops "B.O." (body odor) from happening to *you!*
1:24 The racist imagery aside, I wish the rest of the Famous Popeyes used these kind of film techniques for their action climaxes. It’s a shame Director Dan Gordon didn’t stay with Famous for too long, color Popeyes directed under him would’ve been interesting to look at at least.
I agree. Dan Gordon was probably paying attention to the studio's contemporaries at WB and MGM, and wanted to bring that kind of screwball comedy over to Famous. Imagine how different things would have turned if that were the case instead of the rather watered down shorts of the 50's.

@@carlitos4007 It was an old radio ad for LifeBuoy soap. It'd say something along the lines of "LifeBuoy Soap is the only brand to soap that's able to fight B.O!" Seemingly, the brand's discontinued, since I've never seen it in a store in my entire life.
