www.reefari.com Here's a few poppers which we recommend giving a try for Giant trevally, not all by or means and we have a few more up our sleeves which will feature down the track, In this video check out the Halco Rooster Poppers, Rover 230 Stickbaits, Captiva Poppers and recommend the use of heavy duty hooks and split rings.
Please comment with your favourite poppers and stickbaits, Will review a few more soon, with each popper, stickbaits having different actions and worked differently. The new river2Sea Doggie stickbaits look excellent and will be trying them out as well.

Hey Reefari Thanks for the information about poppers it looks like the Trevally really go off on these. You can see why people talk about the excitement of GT fishing

Definately the bigger the cup, the harder the work, have found the halco's roosta poppers pretty easy to work, or like to run with a couple of people working stickbaits, and poppers. The stickbaits can fire 'em up at times, cheers Greg

Good fun for sure popper fishing, and Ningaloo and Exmouth would be great. Queenfish are good fun and plenty of aerial acrobats usually, Thanks for the comments, Cheers Greg

Definately a good popper the Halco Roosta Popper, easy to work, especially if fishing all day, Good to get a salmon on one. We don't get them up here, Work well on Queenfish, trevally, and the odd cod or coral trout, Cheers Greg

Halco rooster poppers are awesome and one of the best, easy to use and a great price, Nomad Poppers are excellent quality, strong as, but do carry a hefty price for the construction, depends on how serious you are for Giant trevally fishing, thanks for your fishing tip, cheers Greg

I would agree that the big haymakers make the biggest pop or bloop but have fished with them all day and they are hard work compared to other styles in my opinion. Still have the best action though.

Great Popper, have done well on the Gold, Blue/silver and Red/White combo, River 2 sea Rover 230 and Dumbell popper well worth a go as well, Just got a 22kg GT on the Rover 230 Red/white combo yesterday!! Great fish!! Cheers Greg

Good popper, good hooks, but lousy paint for sure, one GT can make a mess. They were $10 at tackleworld, so got a few and doesn't matter if you lose them, losses can be high. Don't think they sell them anymore and probably for that reason, Cheers Greg

Poppers work on the surface, making a good regular splash, imitating a distressed baitfish on the surface and giant trevally can't help themselves. Stickbaits will also work near the surface, maybe diving a foot or two going through the waves, but also breaking the surface. Awesome stuff with spectacular surface strikes, Cheers Greg

The halco roosta poppers are classic, if into big GT's possibly upgrade the hooks, but definately a great action and easy to work!! Cheers Greg

Just wondering if you have tried out Mark Whites' Ceramic plugs? They will out cast every one of those and have an incredibly long service life. In fact they will pretty much never break, unless you launch them at full speed at the rocks repeatedly, lol. Awesome lures that produce for me. They are kind of a mix between a chugging popper and pencil. An added benefit of their design also allows them to be jigged also if so desired. Another cool thing for me is that come in 1/8oz up to 5oz.

They're not too hard to make, but make sure you run wire through the whole lure in case a big fish breaks your poppers, Owner splitrings and trebles are the go, cheers Greg

Depends on the fish you are targetting, GT's tend to be more active in warmer months, Cheers Greg

These are for salt water fishing for GT's, Giant trevally, but poppers do work in fresh water, but alot smaller and depends on what fish you are targetting, Cheers Greg

Killer lures, I'm gonna give it a go at making one or two I make wood topwaters but mostly for inshore and bass fishing. I'm sure I spin one of these on the lathe.
