I remember Jimmy Houston use to walk Pop-R’s like a Spook too. For the money there is no Popper made that works as well as a Rebel Pop-R does. Smallmouth come up out of clear deep water like bullets for those things. You might be the one who showed him. I have to laugh when I hear others on fishing shows catch a big bass and say that’s a Bill Dance bass. There never was any small bass on any Bill Dance fishing show I ever watched. That is one reason watching your fishing shows a so fun to watch. God Bless.
2:20 Whenever my grandfather hooked a bass he would always say, "That's a lively sucker." One time I said, "No grandpa, that's a Micropterus Salmoides." He had a puzzled look on face his the rest of the day.
My dream as a kid was to go fishing with you... my dad and I watched you every weekend... I'm happy you left the part of the intro out where you hit your knee on a trailer hitch... i felt that ever time
I have been watching you for many many years on the television and still to this very day I am learning new techniques from you and Roland Martin you and Roland and Jimmy Houston y'all are the three main and favorite fisherman's that I have watched but mainly you and Roland Martin but over the course of many many years I have enjoyed each and I do have your Bill dance bloopers good video mini gears so thank you sir thank you very much for many many years of pleasure boat fishing
I have an 1/8th of a Plano 3700 box dedicated to Pop-R's. I wouldn't go topwater fishing without them, or my Zara Spooks! Thanks for introducing them to me years back Bill, and thanks for another great episode!
Well thank you mr. Dance for an exciting video on the pop r put out by rebel I have I think I've got that one in my box and I bought lures over the years and I've lost lures over the years but I I love to watch a bass explode the surface after allure there is nothing more thrilling than watching a bass just bust the top of the water thank you for an exceptional video
Great popper for cheap, and anyone that enjoys more ultralight type stuff can try the little four pack of Rebel lures that the big mart carries for like $10. That cricket and that Pop-R are worth every penny alone.
Dang Ball you are really working that popper! I actually used to didn't like them but I'm thinking about giving that Pop R try because it's a shed color scheme. Great video as always! Keep on getting down man!
The Pop R is absolutely a favorite! But...I also still have the Bill Dance signature edition Excalibur top water lure, that rattles! It's a fish magnet also!
Overall performance and price considerations for poppers: Obtained from a few thousand hours of tossing poppers myself. #1 Pop-R & other Rebel lures (especially the 3" popper model). #2 Yo-Zuri poppers and spooks. #3 Megabass poppers and spooks. #1 (15lb) SPRO Prime snap works on all the poppers, short 18"-9ft. fluoro 8lb-10lb test. For those that don't want to waste time tying knots to quickly change out colors/lengths. The SPRO model is the one that DOES NOT look like a paper clip equal on both ends, it's the one that's slightly narrow on the line end making it easy to slip onto deep mouthed poppers/spooks.
I'm interested in the rod's action and power. I have a M Lightning Rod I use with most topwaters, but the standard Pop-R is just a tad too light for it. This rod is a bit too heavy and stiff to be very accurate with this lure. I have a M spinning combo that's good for the bait, but I'm a lot less accurate wit spinning.
I think this popper catches bigger fish in my opinion. Ive used whopper plop and only caught 2 decent bass the popper has consistently landed me big fish.
While some of what you say may be true it doesn't change the fact that his show got tons of kids hooked on fishing and allowed a lot of us to get our fix when we weren't able to go out. You can't fake being the pioneer of fishing shows.
I agree with you with kids, but come on watch all his shows, u ever see another boat. Always on a private stocked lake...fish a public lake and watch what happens...not as great as you think...
Thats the magic of TV which I'm sure is used in some form on every fishing show. Its informative entertainment and he is one of the first to be widely popular. Never said great, but I do think it's great to get kids into the outdoors.
@@2SD251Jim if you were half as successful as Bill was on the tournament trail maybe you'd have a long running fishing show and be able to own a lake or two yourself....maybe.
