Haha thanks man! Honestly, to get the lower octave, I'd use the tab that's in the description and use a harmony octave pedal (such as a DigiTech Drop or a DigiTech Whammy 5 or some other alternative) to emulate that same fuzz part an octave lower. It'd produce a similar result, but if you want to continue working it an octave lower, that would totally work too! If you end up figuring it out in the lower octave, feel free to shoot me a video showing your result at my Instagram (@shawngguitar) or through a link on this comment. Good luck with the solo!!

Awh thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear you’re getting back into playing, that’s awesome!! While I didn’t use any pedals in this video, since I recorded it using virtual amplification, I do believe Chris Greatti, the original guitarist on the recording of this song, most likely used the MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz pedal, as he also used it in his demonstration video for the solo in the Poppy song Moshi Moshi, which also used the same fuzz type of tone! You can find it used for a pretty decent price I believe on Reverb, and I’d totally recommend that you buy all pedals used if you can, it saves a lot of money in the long run! Most of my 12 pedals on my pedalboard were purchased used, and it definitely helped me save a lot of money in the process!

Ibanez EGEN8!

I learned everything by ear on this one, but I always write a ASCII style guitar tab of it while I'm learning it to help me remember how it's played, especially when it comes to songs that aren't repetitive and are longer. I've been really working on my ear chops for when I (hopefully) go to college for music

yeah for sure! Developing your ears is a very important skill as a musician, especially if you plan to take your playing to the professional level. I did make a ASCII tab for this one and posted a couple of links to it in the description, it has all of the fret numbers written out, you just have to figure out the rhythm by ear.

thank you so much! In this clip I was using an Ibanez EGEN8! Unfortunately this specific one is no longer made, but if you buy any new or used Ibanez S Series guitar that has a floating tremolo, it's very close to the same thing, minus pickups being a little different among other tiny things like wood type and finish. I own multiple S model guitars and stand by them, they're so light and versatile!

I did the solo in E Standard, although if you are doing the whole song, I believe you either need a 8 string tuned to EAEADGBe or a creative way to get those low notes through other means. E Standard works for the standalone solo though.

Hi Lace, Thank you for your comment and concerns. I respectfully disagree with most of what you are saying here, and am aware of all of the drama and "allegations" associated with Poppy and her image. I for one choose to ignore the bullshit and drama and focus on what matters: the music. I have much respect for myself as an artist and my craft as a musician, and wouldn't cover just any song or artist for the sake of covering just any song or artist. Regardless of your opinion of Poppy's music and history as an artist, I am a fan of her music and will continue choosing to cover it, and to leave my covers up on RU-vid. I have read up on the history of Poppy and have my own personal opinion on the topic, which differs from yours. I truly believe Poppy is the victim of all of the drama that surfaced, and that she is writing and performing what she wants to write and perform as of the release of "I Disagree" and the new singles she has been releasing throughout 2021. I believe the first albums of hers that came out were the product of her creative decisions being smothered out and her being held captive by a manipulative and controlling creative partner. I can't guarantee that I am correct in my understanding what went down, since I wasn't involved directly in any way with her or her colleagues in those days. But what I do know is that I saw that creative partner of hers melting down on their Instagram about her a while back (maybe a year or so ago) and saying a lot of hurtful things about her. That's all I need to know to understand what kind of person that partner is. My point here is that Poppy very likely wasn't in total control of her career when she started, and most likely didn't really want to be making the kind of music and supplemental content she was in that day and age. The issue is that after adopting this persona into her career for a great number of years, she can't easily just go and change everything overnight, not to mention that she may not even desire to. An artist I often find myself comparing Poppy to is Buckethead, in the sense that they both have very mysterious personas and histories. Buckethead doesn't want to be himself because he finds comfort behind his persona. After all of these years of performing under this persona, maybe Poppy feels the same way. I again can't accurately speak on this since I am not Poppy, nor do I personally know Poppy. All I can do as a fan and supporter of her craft is to give her the personal space surrounding these topics that she deserves to have, and to just listen to the music. And that's exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you for complimenting me on my musical ability. I really do appreciate it. But I do not agree that the action of me covering her music is going to ruin my chances of making it somewhere in the industry, and will continue to cover the artists and music I desire to cover.
