It's mad how she went from "that weird youtube person that is creepy" to making absolutely incredible music and performing in the grammys, like thats such a stark difference in person and talent. I'm just in awe, like this is so cool
@@ichaicha10 Oh please Yes, he is a garbage But the musics were already good Lowlife is dope, time is up is great, computer boy is funny (and i love the hair style) Why do people think that she is a real artist now ? Are the grammys that important to you?.. (i know i'm late but half of the comment talk about that it's ridiculous)
@@ryomaanime4563 dude all they said is that she was with a piece of garbage, they said absolutely nothing about the music during that time, what tf are you on and where can I get it 💀
As a "real" metalhead I find Poppy great and unique! And as a Christian, I like this song too. Hypocrisy within religions are not something that is good and I think the lyrics and video is about this. A lot false and evil people use God and beliefs to spread evil, even kill and make wars in gods name while God most likely hates this. I doubt that this song is mocking good people that are christian though. But for someone who really has some belief in a higher being, should instead be affected in the good way, to be kind, love, forgive and be the good version of yourself, that is what I think God likes.
this song has nothing to do with sexxual asssault. If you find this song so deep and touching that it literally brings you to tears due to it bringing forth a tsunami of emotions related to PTSD from sexxual asssault, I think you should probably seek mental help..
@@IlllIllIllllIlI all the person said was that this song reminds them of their personal life and this guy decides to make it sound dramatic af and calls them insane. I've never met a person who acts like that and isn't also a raging narcissist
honestly seeing that part live was so wild because they were like "hey what if we made it twice as long" and it just turned into this ethereal freeform thing
She's transformed from weird and interesting into an artist who's genuine on top of being weird and interesting. If I weren't already a fan, this would have converted me.
Lyrics: [Intro] What do you believe when everyone is watching? What do you believe? What do you believe when nobody is watching? What do you believe? [Chorus] Keep telling yourself that you've been playing nice Then go beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Keep telling yourself that you've been playing nice Then go beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ [Interlude] I know what it feels like To have my soul sucked out of my body I finally know what it feels like To be dead [Verse] Your soul can't be saved from the sins you've ignored And the devil is well aware he is adored Never forget the excess of a man Because the grabbing hands always grab what they can [Pre-Chorus] What do you believe when everyone is watching? What do you believe? What do you believe when nobody is watching? What do you believe? [Chorus] Keep telling yourself that you've been playing nice Then go beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Keep telling yourself that you've been playing nice Then go beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ Beg for forgiveness from Jesus the Christ [Outro] What do you believe when no one is around? What do you believe when no one is around? What do you believe when no one is around? What do you believe when no one is around?
Me too and honestly? I'm kinda proud of her. I faded out of her stuff cuz i didn't vibe with it, but broooo seeing her going off and gaining traction on RU-vid, having gone on tours?? AMAZING. She's grown
It's crazy how she wrote this album with Titanic Sinclair, while also making it all about him. The songs really do take on more weight since that revelation.
OK. first off... this is the best music video she's ever made. Secondly, I have been trying to figure out how they shot that last scene. Is it a manakin? Is she on a harness? Can she actually levitate?
This song doesn't sound blasphemous or unholy at all. Seems like she's just calling people out who use religion as an excuse to be assholes behind closed doors. The end visual was a little iffy, but the overall message isn't that bad, to my understanding at least.
I kind of got this same feeling. 'never forget the excess of a man because the grabbing hands always grab what they can' I think it does go as far as to question Christianity, I get the idea the end scene is implying it seems to be pioneered by people who end up being caught using it to serve their own ends in the long run and aren't true to the faith they're supposed to be representing. Their faith behind closed doors is completely separate to the faith they show the public. But I've also read that a lot of her recent music is various digs at Titanic Sinclair. So I guess it's just something to make your own mind up on. I really don't think it is as basic as that though
@@smellydog454 Oh I'm well aware that it's about Titanic, but I was just referring to what it meant without the context so that religious people don't immediately assume it gives a bad message on Christianity. Saw a couple of them get heated in the comments without actually analyzing the song 😬
This song is about her choosing the Christian path. When she was with titanic Sinclair, he made her do crazy satanic shit now she made the song about him to tell that she’s Christian and she got out of titanic’s trap
Isn't it cute how "real metalheads" complain about how metal doesn't have much recognition in nowadays society, but when some artist tries to do something creative with the genre and gains attention because is new and interesting they get scared and just hate on it?
@@marradax Even if is an experimental song it still has very clear metal elements, like all the other songs of this album. That is what is called "being creative" with the genre.
You realize that this whole song is basically "You can't be saved, so give it up and just stop. Give in to Satan." right? Like one whole verse is about how she knows what it's like to be dead and how forgiveness is meaningless. Like, it's wrong and it's not Biblically accurate, but that's one whole verse dedicated to Christ's inability to save.
For those of you who disliked the video.. She’s calling out hypocrites and using toxic Christians as an example by saying shes confused about why Christians have to beg God for mercy if they are following the Christian way. Edit: the song is also about how she felt about working with Titanic Sinclair + working in the music business
Maddy Baker I don’t think it’s a hate song to individuals who are Christian. I think Poppy’s confused about the Christian way itself.(Or at least those who are Christian and abusing the religion to get away with behavior-which are the *toxic* Christians). Unless you are a *toxic* Christian, I wouldn’t get offended by this song
Robertz Side Titanic Sinclair helped her write the song. “The song is about negative experiences that both Poppy and Titanic have gone through as artists, such as dealing with not only tyranny from higher-ups in the industry, but also hypocrisy and liars.”
@@cadence649 Oh ok, I thought because I keep seeing comments of her sneaking this song and not telling Titanic of what it's about, but thanks for clarifying.
Can we all just appreciate that this masterpiece mv was just in one shot?! Also I feel her hate being unleashed while beating those men... I bet she had so much fun.
@@hair.goblinnn "I couldn't remember but didn't wanna double check" is what the people counting votes could say. You should always be sure if you're going to say something.
@@vadavadanat can’t say I’m a fan never really listened to her music but she’s a pretty good artist and yeah like u said I don’t think this song is really metal.
Poppy sends messages through her art to those with living hearts that believe in God who is unshakable despite all the temptations she faces. Despite all the difficulties it encountered, the creed triumphed in the end. Great song
"What do you believe when everyone is watching what do you believe" I believe I am losing my brain cells everytime I am getting hit multiple times in the head with a pole lmao
2:05 is the most epic sound I’ve ever heard.. it’s mesmerizing and convicting and sounds like it should be in a film about some sort of anti hero or something
"Keep telling yourself that you've been playing nice then go beg for forgiveness from jesus to chirst" Damn thats actually smart, cause people do bad things and act like they've dont nothing and go back to god for forgiveness.
No, she's been replaced by the illuminati! hahaha, Ikr? I asked myself the same first time I watched this, how did she went from Bleach Blonde Baby to BEG FOR FORGIVENESS!!!! haha, still love her
Jericho Inalisan no, it just saying the people that justify their beliefs on religion but then turn around and do that same thing, like the unholy ness of idk wearing makeup that’s to excessive and then they have earrings and tattoos which are forbidden in the bible, but to me this some was ab her abusive ex.
Not practicing what they preach, telling others how to live, then claiming to religion when they fuck up and saying they're Christian as if it gives them a free pass
Your music and music videos are like fine wine getting better with time. You are my favorite artist right next to Maynard James Keenan. I'm proud to say that I've been a fan of Poppy before Poppy even blew up. I'm genuinely proud of you. You are an absolute inspiration and I genuinely admire you.
I LOVE THE CLOTHES, THE SONG, THE MEANING, THE FIGHT, THE STYLE OF THE FIGHT, THE CAMERA MOTION AND SEAMLESS, AND THE BEAUTY OF POPPY. THIS VIDEO IS PERFECT
this song to me represents being in the music industry isn't all rainbows and butterflies it is being controlled being an artist isn't fun its hard and you have to work hard.
@@xcxdavi Not sure which he's referring to, but there's definitely one as the camera comes back around from the back of the cross and pans down to the floor. It's almost seamless, but it's there.
As l long time listener of Black Sabbath, listen to "after forever" heavy rock with real Christian content. I'm just experiencing Poppy and love the blend of extreme metal,
Correct me if I’m wrong but this is one continuous shot meaning they had to do it all in one take and everyone had to be on time In the right places for the whole run. Also a queen of theatre cause that’s impressive.
When she lost her soul to her narcissistic manager, and now here we are. Wondering if poppy in the future will reflect back and write a book about her past and what was going on with the rest of her sad fame and fortune
