Tricot is great. They do this in a few different styles, they've got some pretty hard rockers as well.

Very cool group with lots of strange songs that somehow worm their way into your head in spite of being difficult first listens. They're very prolific too and are about to release their fourth album in a little over two years. Their earlier material definitely has complex enough compositions to fit the math rock label, but the band themselves seem to reject it, describing themselves as alternative rock and pop. Both the lead vocalist and bass player have solo projects and the lead vocalist is also part of Genie High (ジェニーハイ), a kind of entertainment industry super group. It's a very rich catalogue to explore.

Kida also played the guitar solo in Dadaray track "Ryuukou" (from their third album "gala"), in case nobody realize👀😁

I think the time signature was 𝜋/7 (just joking). The drummer is Yoshida, I'm probably in the minority, but I like him better than the original drummer Komaki.

I resisted that at first, but I have changed my mind over time. While Komaki is an unbelievably talented drummer, Yoshida is an absolute monster and insanely versatile.

Ive counted three so far, ofc theres classic 4/4 but theres also 15/8 for most the verse (you could split that to 6/8+6/8+3/8 or 6/8+9/8) and the ending part has some 7/8 thrown in in-between the 4/4 bars

YESSSS MORE TRICOT!!!!! Btw I'm mindblown that you counted the song right. You don't see it often, especially during a tricot song reaction XD

When someone mispronounced a word it simply means they learned that word by reading it. I really like this music! Thanks for your reaction!

I recommend you check out Hitsujibungaku. They are another Japanese rock band with chill vibes.

I've been a fan of Tricot for years, and got to see them live last September, when they toured the UK. Just like Lovebites, Band Maid, and Gacharic Spin, they don't write bad songs 🙂

I feel like its because I didn't really learn about time signatures before I got heavily into mathrock and music in general in the first place like 3-4 years ago (no music theory training at all after like 7th grade in school, most of which i forgot in the 5 years after), but I always find it interesting when people get offput by weird time signatures and constant changes, while I just naturally vibed with it and find it easy to follow. After learning about all that more I really wanna go pick someones brain that listens to something like this or other songs I like for the first time and someone who composes mathrock etc.

I recently have gotten into them as well even though it's not a style I typically listen to. I remember really not liking them the first time I heard them (might have been one of your reactions) and I am still not always in the mood, but those albums flow by relatively quickly when I am feeling it. They also have plenty of songs that get stuck in my head even though they can be quite complex and difficult to follow. Not sure how they do it. They kind of remind me of a mix of Sokoninaru (the tempochanges and technicality) and Polkadot Stingray (the tone and more funky/jazzy bass and guitar and the vibe in general), but that might be because I also recently gotten more into those 2 bands. I haven't really listened to Tricot's older stuff though, those albums seem to be all sold out, the earliest I managed to get a hold of is their 2017 album. They have a new album coming out in December, so I am sure we can expect new songs and videos. As far as the name goes, I believe it comes from French (which makes sense as far as the pronunciation goes) and is a style of knitting, which makes it difficult to search for the band.

I normally don't really like reaction videos, but I have to say I enjoyed seeing your reaction since it pretty much mirrored mine verbatim :D

Is this a reupload? I thought I saw you react to this already. Anyway, Tricot is awesome, especially live. I've been listening to them since 2016. Saw them live back in 2018 and the energy that they have on stage is contagious. I've been trying to get people to like them but I guess it takes a musician's ear to appreciate the weird time signatures. Try listening to Tokyo vampire hotel. It's one of their more frenetic songs

right now they play in Europe.
