Omg I saw these two in wicked in 2014! It was so amazing. I’m pretty sure Lucy was much better when I saw her but she is so good here. As an Aussie, I can just say that it’s really hard to do an American accent especially for a whole musical
Yes, she screams a lot. I feel her characters fits Glinda. Well. There are many different versions of Elpabas and Glindas. And people have different preferences. Megan Hilty is also pretty good. And besides Jemma Rix, I think Willemijn Verkaik is a good Elphaba as well.
in the australian cast of wizard of oz, lucy durack does glinda (which i looooooooooooved) and jemma rix does the wicked witch ( which was just as good)
Yes oke! Chantal Janzen is amazing !! But Sunday was sadly her last time :( But now she goes to a different musical "Hij geloofd in mij". She also played in Petticoat a dutch musical :) She is my role model! :)
As much as I love Lucy, I feel like she isn't self obsessed and overly dramatic enough to be what has become expected of and so inherently a part of Glinda character. She needs to be more arrogant, ignorant and have the umph that Kristen had in her Glinda imho.
Pretty sure a requirement of the script is an American accent. The British production had to get special permission to perform without the American accent
see I have to agree. Yes some actresses are better or worse than others but these people are all incredibly talented, or else they would not be getting paid the big bucks to perform such big roles in a musical like this that cost millions of dollars to produce. I know for instance that I do not have a prayer at landing a role like these
@obsessivewickedfan darl, if ur obsessed, u should no that amanda harrison busted a blood clot in her voice, so she couldn't hit the high F in Defying Gravity. Then they replaced her with Jemma. Ur not obsessed if you dont have the basic knowledge
Lucy is pretty good as Galinda, but there's something strange about her singing voice, although it is still good. Her speaking voice is perfect, though.
Pretty dire it has to be said. The actress playing Glinda seems to have a fixed expression for a lot of the beginning of the song and isn't feeling the words at all.
I don't really like this Galinda because she's too gentle. For me, she has to have her strength in what she knows best: popularity *duh*; not only that she has strength as a woman in general. Just my opinion.
