I was about to buy half girlfriend book but my jn. Save me by saying didi u can waste your time doing anything no need to buy that ....And the same reaction I got from anyone
You know ur the first youtuber or booktuber , I would say, who is like "Buri hai to hai.... I'll not lie " AND " even if nobody supports me" Let me tell...... Ur attitude is awesome
Dude !!! THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you....So so sooooooo much..... J.K Rowling shaped my personality too......The Wizarding Universe is the thing that I can die for !!!
Every writer should write some trash so that non-readers get the habit of reading. Then they should write some good books so that new readers can learn what to read.
1. To all the boys I've loved before 2. All the bright places 3. The fault in our stars 4. Insurgent Indian Books: 5. Half-Girlfriend 6. I too had a love story 7. Everyone has a story
The fault in our stars was a beautiful book. I just loved all those parts in the book that made me stop reading and think, like Oblivion, being a grenade, not having to leave behind a legacy, pain demands to be felt, etc. Its one of my favourite books not because of the whole boy-meets-girl-and-one-of-them-dies plot but because of how beautifully their stories were written. The part of your video that i absolutely did not agree with was what you said about All the bright places. It wasn't like TFioS at all. It helped a lot of people with mental illnesses. If you don't have any, you probably won't relate to the book, but if you do, you'll understand that the book is brilliantly written and very educational. This was a long comment, so thank you for reading it to the end.
i just completed the girl in room 105 and though it bored me for the first half later i kind of liked and now i was hoping to read one arranged murder will you suggest me to go ahead??
Yeah.. I agree, John green's books have some boring plots.. But in overall perspective, he is a great writer. He writes incredible stories that are really reliable. To be fair, "The fault in our stars" is one of the greatest books in YA genre... I always amazed by the way he writes and the words he chooses are so meticulously chosen...!!!!
You mentioning "some boring plots" gave me a very different perspective about his books. He is one of my most fav authors, but your opinion was useful. Thanks. P.S.: I want to add some positive comment about JG, but I don't need to
Helly hahaha😂😂 till yesterday I had to pretend that I liked the book. But to be honest even paper towns is better(though not great) than The Fault in our stars.
I think fault in our Stars is a good read & it has more than just the ending...the egg throwing part...we don't need thousand people to like us & the Metaphor part is great ...The book has a great story...i really like the "little things" that the author potraits ..apart from the ending অনেকটা যেমন সে গন্তব্য নয় রাস্তা ভালোবাসের মতো ব্যাপার 😅 ।।
Omg ! The ending was the most beautiful part of the book although I cried the hell out of my self ! The ending was showing the irony in case u didn't understand of the book that hazle was reading
The first english book I bought was Half Girlfriend. Lmao. Bhagat doesn't write for the sake of writing, he writes so that another typical bollywood movie can be made from that story.
Oh my God I feel the same about fault in our stars. Finally somebody I could relate with, because I was the only odd one out among everyone else who was raving about this book.BTW great job with the channel. I wish you all the best!
The fact is, new readers like stories with stories and when you become an avid reader, you start to look up into the writing style plot and characters, the way they influence you. So basically I being an teenager read all of these and liked it. But when I turn back into those pages I wouldn't like it.
When she said "I only bought this book because I liked the cover and you know that famous proverb that looks can be deceptive," I thought she would say that don't judge a book by its cover. She really missed a good chance.....oh girl future of you being a good writer seems bleak.
Wait what?!! All the Bright Places is a copy of Fault in our stars!! Well first of all I know art is subjective so I don't wanna talk about how three of my favourite reads appeared on this list back to back. But to call All the Bright Places a copy of The Fault in our stars is a really lame statement. Okay, thry both are a boy meet girl stories concerning a lot about death but then every other coming of age story is a copy of one another. In YA fiction the storyline is a mere vessel to show journey and change in outlook of its characters, being a teenager it only enhances your vision. So I think, ATBT and TFIOS both convey a very different message. And ATBT really made me realise i too was suffering from bipolar symptoms
Okay....what I want to tell is Jenny Han's book To All the boys I've loved before was not about 3 girls falling in love with the same guy....it was about Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky falling in love....it's a series of 3 books.....give them a try
I think what your trying to say was 'looks can be deceiving' hahaha.... I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but I disagree about your opinion on John Green's 'The fault in our stars.'
Btw, I too had a love story is good for someone who has no clue that the main character can die, like never read or watched Fault in our stars. If I remember correctly the name of girl was Khushi. And guy was the writer himself. Maybe a good change for people who only read indian easy-to-read novels
Well if you have read To All The Boys I Loved Before, that's not the plot at all, LJ was best friends with Josh (btw he as their neighbour), but her sister Margot started dating him, and they break up in the movie, and her younger sister much liked him like as a neighbour as you are a fan of an adult in your neighbour. It wasn't the main plot at all if you have understood the book a little bit also.
Most of the English books written by Indian writers are very bad actually. I mean just think Cb, dd... All are very bad writers 😅 Also now when I think about TFIOS, I have so many mixed feelings about it. Like I don't like Gus's character at all. But, when I first read it, my little heart got overwhelmed. Maybe the book can be predictable but still I think it has so many different aspects to it and I like John's writing although some people argue that they are overly poetic and blah blah blah. But yeah the book gave me so much when I needed it, when I was depressed maybe. So,... Yeah. And the last thing I wanna tell u Helly that his last book TATWD is pretty good actually. It's not the best book but it really portrays mental health in a very good way which I didn't see in any other books. And I think it's kind of the book that makes u think about your whole existence for an entire week or so. So, u should try it and Noone dies in it😉
I totally agree with you about Fault in our Stars because the story becomes predictable after half read and every sentence said by Augustus looks like rehearsed and I didn't feel the connection with the characters while reading. My friend was like so shocked that I did not like fault in our Stars but hey that's my personal opinion. John Green is not for everyone I guess!
Hey, you are amazing! So upfront, so bold... Superb! I do not like Sudeep Nagarkar's books at all. I read one of Durjoy the name of which I don't remember and left it midway. Couldn't handle it more. And Chetan has brought a mass revolution in the reading habits of Indians with his books replete with shitty plotlines, love sequences, sex, and everything that just appears inappropriate. Thanks for coming up with such amazing videos! :)
I agre durjiy book was damn irritatiting ....he himself in a interviiew said that he just write any mess put a cover and sold ...i mean he himself agree that his books are shitty
I liked the book "To all the boys I have loved before". I do agree it is odd for the fact of all three sisters falling for the same guy like there are no other guys in the world. Though I relate with the main lead is that she was a reader and to top that she was afraid to drive. And I loved the fluffy feeling that the book gave me when I read. And I totally agree with "Insurgent". It was a total drag for the story. And for "Allegiant", I hate the ending of it. And totally hate Everyone has a story. It is in the top of my most hated books. A book about a story doesnt have a story of itself. How ironic.
The Kite Runner- I won't say that I did not like this book ,but Somehow I feel the ending of this book was quite dramatic. How Amir goes to Taliban camp and rescues the child that doesn't really go with the entire build up of the book. The suicide attempt of the child - ugh I didn't really get the ending.
I like the way u stand by ur opinion but I disagree on the fault in ur stars review... there is a famous proverb " its not the destination but the journey that matters". The book is not a suspense thriller about whether hero lives or dies. It's in the small small things along that journey to deathbed that matters & John green' S genius dialog can make anyone cry..
To me even Fault in our Stars seems like rip off from A walk to remember because it has big symbolic gesture to their lover like with eulogy and the wedding...even A walk to remember is a total rip off from Love Story by Eric Segal
So weird, you included" the boys i've loved before" in this video as well as in the recent one where you mention the books which have been adapted into awesome movies. The second book of this series is amazing. The first is good too though the second one is just superb....🥰🥰
I would like to recommend u a book which is written by a Kerala writer is "BURIED THOUGHTS " by Joseph anamkutty Jose ,he is a famous RJ in Kerala and it is very simple language ,it consists of short stories which all are his real life experiences .I assure you won't regeret after reading that...it's really worth the time..and one of my favrt books... Hope u will post a review video after reading that
vishal jha i just loved the way he introduced a character peter van huston. Which seems so real that i end up googling it. Lol. N guess what i whout a article by john green in which he describes about peter van huston. U guys probably look at that.
Question, I don't read alot of YA but do all of them really end with one of them dying in the end? I've only heard of fault in our Stars and looking for Alaska ending that way.
First of all i think that every author has a unique way of writing and if a book gets popular it's probably because the readers have found it kind of different from other books. And because of that, saying two books are similar to each other is an insult to the writers. Writing is a brilliant talent which very few people are really good at it and by saying you find two different books from two different authors, it's just underestimating the authors and their work. Second of all, if one out of million finds something popular not interesting, it doesn't make it "overrated" or "overhyped". You don't like it and it's ok. You're free to say your opinion about it. But you can't define it by your own opinion. It's possible if we don't like what most of people like, and it's totally ok, but it doesn't mean that we have the right to "define" it with our words; especially when it's about other's belonging.
I desperately wanted to buy All the Bright places but after you said its like fault in our stars( which is the only book I never completed reading even after buying) I totally lost my interest...thanks to you
I respect ur opinion, but honestly, I loved To all the boys I've loved before..I enjoyed the writing n the storyline pretty much..it's much better than the movie anyway And pls hv a fact check: do all the 3 sisters fall for him? I don't think so :P But Helly, u r a real motivator, love ur content, especially the way u speak!! Keep going!! 👍
Hated Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins(too much 'advertising',death, madness and a flop climax),The World After by Susan Ee,Durjoy Datt & Sudeep Nagarkar books(language🙁!,poor plot)
Helly These were gladly circulated in hostels... I can't believe people actually looove this crap😂 PS: I really like how you include movie scenes in your videos🎥
Helly I read fault in our stars and I too had a love story and it’s my personal experience that these books are the best read ever in my reading journey.
Helly di......John Green also has a book called "Paper Town" and my friends told me its good to read ......if you tell me whether you liked it.....then maybe I will get a copy!!because I love books too and I have exactly similar thoughts about some books that you spoke about.
TBH I did not like 13 reasons why for some reason because the ending was highly abrupt, somehow it didn't make fucking sense and an alternate ending was possible.
I like your videos and reviews but I actually liked Ravinder Singh’s book “ I too had a love story” . It is a true story of his life and his first book so I think you should not be so critical about the writing style😉
Hell yeah she sure has her opinion-- but Fault in our stars? To all the boys I have loved before? Well just let me clear up those who were thinking to pick that trilogy it's an amazing book series and all the three sisters don't like the same guy the first two sisters have kind of 2-3 year gap and one has a crush on her and the older sibling have him as her boyfriend... And the youngest daughter she is 8-9 year old and as always small children grow attractive towards a person who is kind and funny to them so-- No the 3 siblings don't like the same guy. Let's talk about 'All the bright places' it may seem like it's like fault in our stars cause it has some disease and it's fatal but the story is different the plot is different the scene is different and if it includes death then all books like 'Me before you' , 'Before I die' are all copied from fault in our stars? Well just letting you guys know it's worth the read. About Chetan Bhagat books some books are absolutely shitty but some are worth the read like "One Indian girl and Room No. 105" . Some might not like the writing style but it has good plot story. And about divergent series-- I have read it thrice and I swear the first book was worth the buy and second one was the sequel so I had to read it and it wasn't that good but it was not as bad the "Half girlfriend" and it's a YA book so those who are thinking to pick up divergent series do read the first book and if you don't like the first book (which I probably guess won't happen because her writing style is amazing) then don't go for the sequel... (+_+) That's all for today and if you need any recommendations just reply to this comment. 🙂
I truly agree with your views on Divergent series. Only the first one was good. Insurgent was worst. I had even written a letter to the writer stating that she doesn't have the power to play with the emotions of the reader! But I was in love with Four😂
"The Sialkot Saga by Ashwin Sanghi". I love his books and I'm still a huge fan but I was really disappointed when I read this book. Firstly, the plot was heavily lifted from Kane & Abel by Jeffrey Archer, so no points for originality. Secondly, it seemed that the book was jumping from one scheme to another and both men trying to over smart each other which is fine but the way it was told seemed to break the flow, for me atleast. Still I would have given it 4 stars had it not been for the climax which was completely bizarre. Not to give out any spoilers but had it been a mythological thriller, I would have absolutely loved it but after getting a "Kane & Abel" feel throughout the book, throwing THAT climax did not work for me. In the end I just wanted to finish the book only because I had already begun reading it and was almost at the end. Still I am a huge fan and have just bought Keepers of the Kalachakra. I hope this one is as good as Chanakya's Chant and Krishna Key, the reason why I became Ashwin Sanghi's fan.
i love what you do helly, if you dont mind me saying so, i think you need to change your video background . find a park, pretty walls, restaurant , other interesting spots . :) xoxo thank you for daily inspiration :) helly
is pdf is same as real hard copy book? love your videos.. keeping making it.. recently see your vlog motivating didi. any best book pdf downloading sites .becuse i donot have money for buying books (it is wasted on my snacks) and my pocket money is oly 200 rupee ..help help..i love reading
I agree.I also thought what was said about All the bright places was a little insensitive, because a lot of what was written in the book was brilliant and portrays exactly what being bipolar or depressed is like. Writing it off as a copy of The fault in our stars was just wrong. It's not the same at all.
I read I TOO HAD A LOVE STORY in my early teen age and I loved the book just because it was romantic but now my opinion is contradictory as I am not gonna read a book which is too predictable ...
When I was new in this Reader's community....I had read "3 mistakes of my life" was my 1st mistake....🤔🙄 Then 2nd book was WINGS OF FIRE by my favourite and idol APJ Abdul Kalam After that "incident" i don't read fiction books
Actually , I read 'the fault in our stars' recently .I liked it but the ending was not that much captivating..It should have been better. But I liked the message and the lucid language that is used in the book.I think that it is really easy to read the book . I agree with u that the book was predictable. But what I like the most about this book is certain quotes that are really heart touching and insightful . Various emotions that swirled through my mind when I read the book.. Even though I don't favour romantic books, I liked this one. The major takeaway that I did from this book is, this is the only moment that we own and we have to enjoy it as much as possible and everything in this world is temporary. But, as u said , many people don't like this book. Personally , I really liked the way all the characters have different touching stories to tell and the curiosities that arises in teenage minds and all .. anyway, I really like all your book reviews..keep going..It really helps me to pick the right books.❤️
Not all John Green's books have a girl or a boy die in the end, e.g. Paper Towns, Turtles All The Way Down, Will Grayson Will Grayson. And Half Girlfriend isn't THAT bad, overall. Some of the things that happen and are done are really bad, but the story, overall, is fine. Please try to see the beautiful aspects of it too
I am in 12th so I don't have much time to read novels. I have read only 4 books this year 1) Someone like you by Durjoy Dutta, I left it in between. 2) Twilight, as it was the second book I ever read, I liked that, not anymore. 3) Then I read The Fault in our stars and I absolutely Love that Book. :) 4) The Alchemist. I loved it as well.
Hi dear, digital marketing and social media marketing both are same or different? Can I work as a freelancer if I do digital marketing or social media marketing?. Please am a new subscriber to your channel I loved your vedios and watched each and every videos one by one. Thanks a lot for your content. And by your words I am joining to spoken English classes as well.
I don't like The Alchemist.... I read it only once.... Should I give it another try cuz its a really popular book.... I don't know why but... I kind of got bored
I also didn't like TATBILB. I haven't read ATBP yet but I think the ending of TFIOS is what makes it so beautiful and special. So, maybe ur opinion on it is a bit shallow 😅 I loved reading divergent, I enjoyed only some scenes of insurgent and cringed at allegiant, especially it's ending 😑. Abt the Indian books u mentioned, I haven't even read one and I am so glad for it
What about Durjoy Datta's his every book is like script of new TV soap 😂😂 I hated my bff for giving me that book to read. Also I too hated jenny Han's book but movie version was better because of Noah Centino ❤
Man! That guy is crazy when it comes to writing. I read one of his books, The Boy Who Loved or something like that and according to me, the content was out of the world and do not even get me started on the English of writers like these and of course, Sudeep Nagarkar and Ravinder Singh included! Apparently, girls at my school are crazy for them. 🤷♀
I like I Too Had A Love Story because the his words created the feeling in me he was trying to incorporate...but the one book I wanted to like the whole time but couldn't was Your Dreams Are Mine Now, because the whole story was based on the girl and her family sacrifices and in the end she f**king died 😱 and the end felt so casual that one reading the end only couldn't believe such tragedy had happened just few chapters back
Advice: I Don't know how to select books when only thing..the core thing to read is someone who writes well.lest the content itself sometimes..or most of the time. So most Indian writers don't make my list(expect gitanjali, mahabharata, etc)neither do britishers or American.. But some do..Those special gifted by God,(if u search u ll find many geniuses whether be it science, literature philosophy, lifestyle, yoga, motivation etc) Satya Nadella wrote a book "Hit Refresh" That was just the generic mindset how he felt in Microsoft?what to write then? most don't feel it.. who likes a job better than a salary? very few! but Nadella himself..CEO STUNT.. coz many still will read him..heed him infact biz. Little Helly, Go by author then if he proves it.. Put him in ur library.. So YOU HAVE TO WORK VERY HARD.. AND MAKE THE BOOK CHANNEL(VERY FEW ON YT) Work the purpose..for yourself the youtube subscribers..like me
okay thank u for saving the time just curious since you are a bibliophile do u like collecting bookmarks as well like i do if yes. pls include those in a video sometime
Oh I have a list too...plzz dont read 1.POSTSCRIPT BY CECILIA AHERN, MY VERY FAVOURITE BOOK WAS PS I LOVE U,SO I DID A BIG MISTAKE BUYING THIS BOOK 2. THE WIFE BETWEEN US 3. SILENT PATIENT (NO 2 AND 3 ARE KIND OF SIMILAR AND IT CAN BE UNDERSTOOD)
As per talking about Indian writers , I did not like Our impossible love . Although the concept was new , it was one of the same Durjoy Dutta books with all the ‘obsession’ , ‘forced intercourses’ and what not !
OMG!!!! I accept that... 1. TO ALL THE BOYS IVE EVER LOVED BEFORE - I liked it A BIT... But still, it's a failed attempt of Romance. That was more like a recipe book and I bet foodies will love that. And besides, the younger sister (Kitty) was not more than 10, for god sake!! 2. All the brightest Places - God bless you Helly! You saved me from this major trauma! Well, I hated the movie trailer (same! Because of the Girl! LOL!) in the first place but still, I was thinking about reading that... 3. The Fault In our stars - Of course the ending is gloomy, but still, AMAZING... Periodt! 4. Divergent series - Glad that I didn't buy that series for my Birthday purchase! again, thank you for saving my money!! 5. Half Girlfriend - Its a major sin to call that mushy crap as a 'BOOK'. I mean ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS TO INSULT THE NORMS OF A BOOK BY CALLING IT A BOOK!!! (Eye-Roll) Chetan Bhagat has no other business other than fucking with women's emotions, through his nauseating writing style!! 4. I too had a love story - I have the eBook, still unread. And I'm happy to say that I'm going to delete it right away because I hate it too. The sequel... Hmmm, I will let it survive! 5. Everyone has a story - Well, I don't go Indian when it comes to books (Thanks to Baghat's bullshits). But, why are all the Indian authors are obsessed with this " /* SOMETHING*/ HAVE A STORY" phrase as their title?! Its utter bullshit!
I hated reading Savi Sharma so much, it gave me a bad impression of how badly female Indian writers can write despite the fact that I have grown up reading the works of aspiring female Indian writers who write like Leigh Bardugo or Patrick Ness (nothing much but they’re my favourite authors)
The worst book of my I have read so far is 'One Indian Girl' by Chetan Bhagat, much against the dissuasion attempts of my friend. There are so many things that are wrong in this book and it makes me think if Chetan Bhagat is just another over-hyped writer. Having said that, I don't regret reading it because now I know what a novel should NOT be. In any case, NOT reading Chetan Bhagat anymore.
I have more hope from All The Bright Places and nothing can squash that hope. The Fault in our Stars is not something I liked very much, there was just a couple scenes I loved in the movie and I hoped I’d like the book too but too bad, it didn’t happen.
I absolutely loved All The Bright Places. I feel sorry that you didn't like it. It was not like The Fault in Our Stars at all except the end maybe. I didn't like Violet too much but I instantly fell in love with Finch. Reading from his POV was a great experience and I found myself relating to him quite a lot. The Fault in our stars was a crappy book with unrealistic characters. All the Bright places was realistic and just beautiful. And Violet being self centered and not noticing Finch needed help was actually what happens in real life. People rarely notice other people that need help, especially when they mask it as good as Finch. The honesty in this novel was what I loved the most and I am thankful that it didn't end with Finch 'being cured of his sorrows because love redeems all' and that crap.
