Russell is one of the few people who posesses the ability to have an honest, respectful and insightful conversation with literally ANYONE regardless of their beliefs and political views. It's so powerful. This is the type of human interactions we need a lot more of in this world.

This is what real diversity of opinion looks like. Engaging, insightful, humorous and argumentative. A brilliant discussion.

Thank you for showing people that genuine conversation can still occur. No name calling, no hate towards each other, just conversation on topics. They agreed on some things and respectfully disagreed on other things, perfect conversation.

We need more of these kinds of conversations. Everyone is so polarized but no one is talking…like adults…who can disagree and still converse. Reasonable minds can differ and we’re living in unreasonable times. Thank you for this 🙏🏼

Candace is too smart and strong that she lacks empathy. She doesn’t understand that not everyone can be smart, mentally strong, driven and solve their own problems like her, not everyone have parents and community that can guide or support them. I do agree with her that anyone who works hard can improve their life but at the same time those who are in the lower rung of society are working hard but their earnings cannot get them out of poverty or afford them better opportunities. Russell is a kind and compassionate soul. Bless him.

Russell possesses the rare ability to LISTEN during an interview. Its genuine, very appealing and intelligent. Extremely inviting for any interviewed by him. Bravo to you Russell.

Hating someone is self destructive and counter productive. I can hate what people do, but hating a person is something entirely different.

Humm being older than both of you and growing up with no parents and a drug/alcohol family background. From the age of 2yrs I remember all that happened. I went to a foster home. I was 2. I don't remember anything before that, but I remember entering that house and everything thereafter. I never knew my mother and my father would visit me 5 times from my age of 9 til 16 when he suddenly died. I left my home town at 18 when the system released me. I grew up in a strange world of mental anguish and being denied when others got favor. Let me explain this I grew up in a foster home where I was a small means of support for a family that needed to make ends meet for their children and their mortgage. I suffered no physical abuse. They were not bad people they were just making ends meet through the check they got for keeping a foster child. And I lived in a nice neighborhood. But I was ALWAYS on the outside looking in. I was small, extremely thin and always depressed. Yes they fed me but I never had much of an appetite. I also was not smart. I grew up at the end of the illegitimate era and the stigma that comes with that. I watched for the 16yrs I was in that foster home all the favor children received from their parents in the neighborhood and didn't really appreciate it. I had to fight envy, jealousy, hate and despair from an early age. I was treated like a nobody and given no love. I was just there. I was often told " you'll be just like your parents." That statement confused me cause I didn't know my parents. If I had any talent or wanted to learn something to better myself for the future it was ignored at home and at school. Everyone knew I was an orphan and no one cared. I was just there. I saw so much, I learned so much that made me angry as I grew up. But I had faith, I had GOD. Eventually I took the negative and turned it positive through GOD's guidance and learned how to survive and be stronger for myself by the time I was 27 and far away from where I grew up. Coming off of homelessness then welfare. To go to job training and getting a job which I worked for 28yrs. It was the anger and being denied and being told what I would be that drove me to finally change my life. Never liked drugs or alcohol thank GOD. And when I dumped going no where people out of my life I finally went somewhere.

There's a BUNCH to take away from here. Strangely enough the biggest thing is that these two are friends and they totally planned on going after each other from the beginning. So awesome! I love both of these people!!! haha

I think these two need to have a conversation again. How the world has changed since this happened.

The wonderful thing about this conversation is that the Yang values are espoused by a woman and the Yin values are espoused by a man. That is refreshing. And of course, the truth lies in the balance between Yin and Yang. It’s a cosmic dance that we’ve been watching. Love it

I watched this years ago and it was my first introduction to Candace Owens. This podcast started to change the way I see a lot of things.

These two should have a weekly primetime television show.

I have completely misunderstood Russell over the years and he's made me realize that putting people in a 'left-wing' or 'right-wing' category is not only simplistic and ignorant but extremely unhelpful for our society. Although I am conservative-leaning, it's refreshing to hear Russell's perspective on politics and life in general. I think we could all do with branching outside of our social media echo-chambers to listen to other perspectives.

This is such a great conversation. I don't know if you've done this again .. but do it again. I'll be immediately searching for more with Candice

The way I clung to one side or the other at any point in this conversation prooves that civil conversation is at the forfront of our society. Likened to conversations I've had with friends and family. How beautiful. ❤

Russell has developed a lot as a critical thinker over the last five years at this point in his life. He’s talking about a lot of nonsensical platitudes that sound good and feel good and are exactly why we have gotten to where we are. Candace is razor-sharp and her responses to him, and some of those ideas. Let’s face it she kind of ate his lunch. He is much wiser now

The comment section in this video is as enjoable as the video itself it gave me real comfort to see how so many people enjoy a civilzed political debate. It restores my faith in humanity.

Funny enough, I took a deep test to find out where I stand politically...I have never BEEN political, and never was, pre-Trump, and I always thought I was a conservative. I'm not, according to the test. According to it, I qualify as a "left-leaning libertarian." I don't see that, really, but there are things that I believe in that are not in our present fabric. I believe that your ENTIRE education, even throughout college, should be free. Not paid for by the public, JUST FREE. That's not socialistic, that's common sense. Candace speaks of ensuring everyone has an equal chance at success, and that would be one way to ensure that happening.

I’ve only watched half of the podcast at this point but, I believe in the power of the individual but it took me years to find my own strength. I became unemployed when my kids were young and I started receiving food stamps. For several years I was employed on and off always ending up back on government assistance. It wasn’t until a new government policy threatened to revoked my ability to renew my food stamps unless I actively sought gainful employment. The requirements were similar to those of unemployment where I had to provide the contact information where I applied for jobs and the outlets I used to do so. It was a full time job seeking a job. It was such a successful program that I actually found employment and have been off government assistance ever since. With that said, had I not been forced into it, I would not have believed I could do it. I did need the government help, but I become dependent on it and developed a mindset that I wouldn’t be able to survive without it. It was a necessity, but it needed to be a limited time frame for me.

This is what kind of conversations that need to take place to solve the world's issues. Bravo Candace and Russell....

I would love for these two to revisit this conversation after seeing what’s going on today. The best thing Candace said was, it is not the responsibility of the government to take care of the poor, that is actually the responsibility of the community and the church. That’s biblical!

There is a Persian anecdote that is about a king that sees many people on the street. he talks to his council and comes up with a plan. he builds a building and lets people who cant work in. there is free food and people lay around and do nothing. after a while a couple of people turn into thousands of people. the king saw a problem again for the situation. so they set the building on fire and then most people ran out of the building. only people who were really sick and had no where to go stayed. moral of the story: there are extreme cases of people who neither can nor have the means to create good condition for them selves. i think the government should in fact care for those individuals.

Candace is such a smart woman. She should run for President.

I’m only 40 minutes in, but I *love* this. It reminds me of two best friends or a married couple with different beliefs. Humor and respect, but also not short of passion.

As a conservative I just have to say I’m beyond impressed with russel brand he’s the first person who can vocalize the other sides argument that does it without name calling and degradation and it’s the first time I’ve actually digested some valid points from the other side of the aisle. Thank you sir for creating a space where you both were able to have a valid logical argument.

CSA survivor and anorexia was my way of exerting control 100%. I found my way out of it too. Great conversation!

It’s not just black women in the system that are incentivized to be single mothers living off the system. I was a white single mother receiving government aid while working 6 days a week to support myself and my daughter. The moment I got remarried, all of the aid that I had received came to a halt, even though our combined income was lower than what mine had been as a single mom receiving aid. Fast forward a few years, I was encouraged to “get a divorce on paper” so that I could receive benefits again in order to get the added support needed. Women in general are encouraged to be single mothers, and they’re incentivized by the great amount of aid given to single mothers only.

Candace shows an extreme level of maturity and massive amount of compassion as she forgives her school mates for the racist voices messages. Amazing clarity to distinguish between being a racist and saying racist things. That distinction is not easy to make.

Though I find Candace Owens incredible and refreshing, I was impressed with Brand able to carry the interview with dignity, grace and respect. Very admirable.

Russell you need to listen to what Candace is saying, so you can understand. Candace is that true friend who will tell you those jeans don’t look nice, try these jeans. Not like most people who lie to you and say how nice you look when their thought is completely the opposite! I respect and embrace people who hold the truth. Thank you Candace 🙏🏼

I disagree with Russel Brand on nearly everything he says but he is sure a nice guy who is open minded and exemplifies how to have a rational debate.

So…. 4 years later … we gave “compassion” and we got adverbs. We gave “understanding” and we got entitlement…. This is what she was trying to say. We need limited government and bring our households together to bring change. There is such thing as too much love. And I feel if you understood her, you would have seen she does love people she just believes in tough love.

Massive props to Mr. Brand for having this wonderful young lady on his show and than having the proper respect in allowing her to speak with zero interruption. Mr. Brand is a far better interviewer than the paid professionals you see on cable. This was a fantastic conversation and gives hope that both sided can speak to each other in a civil manner. I would love to see these two debate again. I just finished watching all of it. They are proof people can debate, agree, disagree, and still hear each other and treat each other with kindness and respect. Awesome!

I remember Candace saying in another video that alot of African American students struggle in colleges like Harvard...but she never said why this is, it's because different curriculum are taught in different schools and I've experienced this personally with my daughter she attended a suburban school( predominantly white) and an urban school (predominantly black ) and it was so different that my daughter which was 6 at the time was tutoring her cousin which was 9 in math because they went to different schools in different arreas...she needs to listen more than she talks

Mostly at 1:08 minute is when Candice ideology gets unsustainable. I’m an jock that some people thinks this was a completely intelligent conversation . Poor Russel spend the the whole conversation trying to educate Candace on the role of the government, the meaning of love, community and serving others. To me Cadence as eloquent as she is she carried a lot of trauma.
