2:13 i do this!!! i am a 15 artist in washington and i love going to value village (local thrift shop) and shopping for dolls that havent been well taken care of then i restore them :) edit: OMG!!! I have this huge repaint on this toddler sized ball jointed porcelain doll. I absolutely love her, but her face is so awkward and I just know she has true hidden beauty. I wish I could send you a picture of her. I really look forward on your future repaints🥰 thank you so much.

I was in Goodwill the other day and I was tempted to pick up a few porcelain dolls. I want to do repaints, but the vinyl dolls don't appeal to me. I found your video because I want to start a new project or even a new hobby! Thanks for this video!

Yay someone also repainting porcelain dolls! I do like the vinyl ones, but it’s so hard to find a sealant that works on them in my country, so I don’t work with them a lot, but I have a few porcelain dolls that I am currently customizing and one that I’m restoring, I’m even giving one an articulated body and modifying the expression of another (I have two of the same, so I’m experimenting). I was thinking about how would be the best method to make a wig (if sewn or glued) and I wasn’t sure about using only glue, but watching this I will definitely give this mix of gluing and sewing a chance. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I should have commented this of the previous video but I only just thought of it, sorry. A good way to prepare the the porcelain for paint is with Comet cleanser! You wet the surface, sprinkle on cleanser and rub with your fingers until it feels smooth, then rinse. It works great. You get a smooth surface without it being slick.

Oh, I know, I'm sorry. Sadly my camera stopped recording while I was too focused on that part of the wig and I didn't catch it in time 😅 so I lost that footage. But here's how I did it: I left a small bald spot up top, then I took a separate short strand of extension, rolled it up into the size of that bold spot, secured it with thread so that it wouldn't come undone, then spread the hair out into sort of a 'flower', flattened it out with my straightening iron, the sewed it into that bold spot. Pretty simple 😊. I hope that helps 😅. This was my first recording of me making a wig, so it wasn't very successful footage. However, it's not my last, so I'll try to be a bit more specific with my steps.

Hi i'm looking for new hear for my porselin dols i got 10 very old dols and there hear falls out and is very fragile, what do I do?

Hi, I am actually not an expert on vintage dolls, everything I did was purely experimental. But one thing I can tell you for sure, is that once old doll hair or wig becomes weathered, damaged, or starts falling apart, there is no way to restore it. You have to replace it completely. And for that, you will have to search online for someone who sells ceramic vintage style doll hair replacements, or wigs. But, that might be tricky because most old ceramic dolls are odd shapes and sizes, so it would be tricky to fing a wig that would fit it exactly, so you will need to make sure you know the head size of your doll, and the size of the wig for it, matches. That's all I can say.
