I've never heard music like this before in my life. And so when I hear this, I just get goosebumps all around. It's fucking.... euphoric. I don't have the words to describe this otherworldy feeling.
My thoughts exactly. This was the first track I ever heard of this band and by the end of the day, I had purchased five albums. I kept waiting for a bad track. I'm still waiting.........
Something very significant about how this band shaped my youth. Going my own way and owning my own fucking life. Wilson is a true gentleman with his own voice. This shit is treasure I’m so glad I found and don’t even know how I did .
A body is washed up on a Norfolk beach He was a friend that I could not reach He thought I was cold but I understand But for the grace of God goes another man And I may just waste away from doing nothing But I'm a martyr to even less A choir boy is buried on the moors Where we used to go dreaming when we were bored Some kids are best left to fend for themselves And others were born to stack shelves And I may just waste away from doing nothing But I'm a martyr to even less Fuck you and your book too You can have it back When I'm gone these songs will Will be my tracks And I had a stupid dream that I could change things But I'm a martyr to even less I hate the ground that I have walked upon Nothing I've done has ever mattered long
This has got to be one of my favourite of their songs. It's so utterly plaintive and hopeless sounding, (and angry) especially the way he sings it at the end.. It is often how I have felt.. I'm feeling better now.. But this song will forever haunt me I think.
Other favorite songs - .3, Blackest Eyes, Glass Arm Shattering, Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, Anesthetize, Kneel and Disconnect, Flicker, Buying New Soul, Russia on Ice
I saw Porcupine Tree live twice. Amazing band live. I saw them in a small club which made even better. Porcupine Tree does have a live dvd called "Arriving Somewhere but not Here"
They were the first band I saw live! Unfortunately that also means that I barely remember it, and I had only heard Deadwing and Anesthetize at that point in my life.
I listen to anesthetize and absolutely loved it, so now I'm trying some of their others song. And I'm so pleased that I started with this song. Shame their not making new albums anymore.
+Nesheny _ i also started from anesthetize. then i slowly listened to the whole discography, track by track. and dude, i swear, right now i can t choose my favourite album. they are all absolutely outstanding.
Porcupine Tree Like No_Man will Back When Steven is ready to resurrect them. Keep the Faith and in the meantime we have All the Wonderful music they already recorded like the Awesome Even Less And Buying New Soul. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
AtrolinK I'm always debating between "The Sky Moves Sideways", "Deadwing", "Fear of a Blank Planet", and "Voyage 34". All of them are really just fantastic, though.
there used to be a small CD store not far from my place with a really cool owner, every time i would come and he would give me headphones and let me listen to good music he got. one day i came and he put this one on (porcupine tree - Recordings limited edition) after listening to it, my mind was blown. still got the CD :)
Oh, how could I forget Flicker, Lazarus, and Remember Me Lover?! All ones that at least start nice and peaceful. But there are so many great songs by them, I could name them forever.
Discovering Porcupine Tree is like rediscovering Pink Floyd, it's like you're just looking at something you can't precisely define yet, but you feel that it's bigger than you and than most things you know.
Y te preguntas por qué no es una agrupación mundialmente conocida que está llenando estadios.... Luego sigues escuchando a PT, a Steven Wilson, descubres más su música y entiendes por qué.... ✨🍷
It is on the two disc re-issue of "Stupid Dream". But, there's another album entitled "Recordings", which is a compliation of B-sides from the albums "Lightbulb Sun" and "Stupid Dream" that also has this version.
