+Anchovy Run Steven has said that there will more than likely be at least one more PT album, and I hope he adds John Wesley as a studio member when they get back together.
Best group in the past 10 years. PT is perfect. All songs fantastic. And the guys are great musicians. I´m big fan. Remind me PInk Floyd in the early years.
Moved to tears by John Wesley's voice. Must get some of his stuff. Incredible. I arrived late to a Marillion gig a few years ago and missed his set...regret this so much.
The guitar solo in Half light imo destroys all other guitar solos, yes, yes many are much technically and twiddly speed faster, but its the feel and emotion that Steven pours into this solo that make it my all time faveourite :)
If you like that solo, you absolutely love the solo at 4:45 in Deadman by Karnivool. Added bonus of integrating with vocals towards end. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WbLEYQo98t0.html
yes, kids, the ending solo is very reminiscent of Marillion's song Sugar Mice, but it's totally cool. Every great band will sound like another great band from time to time. It's ok
been sitting in the garden contemplating .. the moon was full, shrouded in thin cloud and showing soft rainbow colours , broken clouds over head , cool , calm ... reminded me of the days when I did acid ...I dont need it anymore , just put this on :-)
There´s is a similarity of both solos ( half light of PT and Sugar Mice from Marillion), but is not a plagiarism. Porcupine Tree is absolutely one of the best bands of the actuality.God bless these guys.
It's clearly very deliberate, and I think it's a small homage to Sugar Mice, which deals in a related theme (a troubled relationship, a favorite theme of Wilson's). Wilson borrows all sort of melodic bits and styles from other people (and actually, Marillion has as well, but usually they are tiny snippets, not half a song like this.) Whether it's plagiarism depends on whether Marillion's lawyers care, and this video is still up so I guess not. It's a nice rendition of the melody, maybe prettier than the original.
Looking down, from the silhouette, Reaching far and wide, breathe in deep, Oh, I,m riding the waves of obscurity.... My melody has disappeared, I dont know where its gone, My twinkle has also, gone away, But through all of this despair, I will hold you all day........................I miss you, I want to be with you again, just to hold you, oh, to release this pain...................................
Oh my God I'm so sad that Wesley is no longer in the band, I know he was a session guy but his voice is so beautiful and perfect for Porcupine Tree songs, he's really missed as much as Colin is. Happy they're back with a new album though!
la mejor banda de metal progresivo desde mi opinión, combinan energía, melancolia, potencia, viaje por momentos. ojalá nos regalen otro disco de esa calidad.
What's this Marillion BS comparison. Honestly how small minded are you. they were crap. as for 'done to death', you could say that of any musical genre. we're all trading off influences and what has been passed down to us , what's wrong with that? Elvis and the Beatles were trading on the past...
people that say this sound has been done to death? is it just a fade for you? you a hipster or something? if so you really dont matter. whats hip matters more to you than what is pleasant to hear. go away. or better yet just get over your lil' phase and soak in what PT had to offer. FFS. the radio is full of repitition, and you criticize the minority for sounding like another minority in the music world... gtfo
